"I guess I really felt the magic."
Anastasia turned around excitedly, looking at Lucian with a face full of admiration.
Their bodies were already very close, and after Anastasia made that move, her face ended up right in front of Lucian's.
They looked into each other's eyes.
That handsome face was right in front of her, so close that Anastasia could even feel Lucian's breath gently blowing on her face. The warm feeling made her a little dizzy.
Anastasia was a bold girl, but she was still a girl with no experience.
Although she had gotten to know Lucian over the past two weeks and didn't think too badly of him, this close contact still made her feel nervous, like a deer running around in her chest.
"Just wait!"
Suddenly, there was a soft cough at the entrance of Harrow Manor.
Raymond walked in from outside. As soon as he came in, he saw his daughter so close to Lucian, and he felt that things were moving too fast. He quickly spoke up to break them apart, so he wouldn't see anything bad.
But what Raymond didn't expect was that his daughter was so bold. From the way she just acted, it looked like she had been the one to start it.
The thought made Raymond feel even worse.
He could only look at Anastasia, who was very confused, with a complicated expression.
Anastasia never thought it would be this lucky, that her father saw this moment. She didn't have time to explain much. She quickly fixed her clothes and stood up from Lucian's arms, looking down at her feet.
She knew exactly what her father's look meant, which was why she was so nervous.
But she had also felt something new, like a shock of electricity.
Was this feeling because she was starting to like Lucian?
Anastasia slightly raised her head and looked at Lucian. Coincidentally, Lucian was also looking at her. Their eyes met, and she felt a teasing look in Lucian's eyes.
Anastasia felt both embarrassed and angry, so she turned her head and gave Lucian a sharp look. That look was very sexy.
Oh my gosh!
Raymond, who was standing nearby, felt like hitting himself in the chest when he saw this. In just two weeks, they were already flirting in front of everyone. What would they do if they were together for longer? Raymond couldn't even imagine.
Lucian, on the other hand, stayed calm and said, "Mr. Raymond, what's the reason you came to my Harrow Manor?"
Raymond slowly spoke: "I was just passing by, but I wanted to check on how my daughter's magic studies were going."
At this, Anastasia excitedly raised her hand, and a few tiny sparks once again gathered from her fingertips. She spoke like a happy lark: "Dad, look! I've learned how to control magic. Soon, I'll be a strong mage!"
Anastasia put her hands on her hips and said proudly to Raymond.
Raymond sat down on a garden chair and said with a pleased look: "Well done. That's all thanks to your teacher's teaching."
After saying that, he spoke with a little helplessness: "Lucian, I owe you a lot. My annoying daughter is actually very happy here, and she's made a lot of progress."
That made perfect sense.
After half a month, Anastasia had changed almost completely. She was nothing like the daughter he remembered-who used to throw a fit because she couldn't learn magic, and who had resisted the arranged marriage with all her might!
Being around someone you like does make you happy, and how could Raymond, as a father, not be happy about that?
"Miss. Anastasia is naturally very smart," Lucian smiled. "It's just that the elf's body is different from humans, which is why she needed so much practice."
Raymond waved his hand. "Haha, don't be so modest for her. I know her personality better than anyone."
"Lucian, as her father, the one thing I want most is for my daughter to be happy and have a good future. I've been busy lately and haven't taken good care of Anastasia, but I can still see how she feels."
He paused, then got to the point: "The thing you asked for, the Acheson family agrees to it!"
When he heard that, Lucian was first surprised, then realized at once-his request to the Acheson family had only ever been one thing: to marry Anastasia.
Now, this had been agreed to so easily?
Lucian thought for a moment, then said: "I'm naturally very happy about this. But didn't we agree that we'd talk about this after I fixed the trade route problem in the second half of the year?"
Raymond sighed.
He would have liked to hold off, but looking at Anastasia like this, if they waited any longer, there might even be a baby in a few days.
It was better to be open-minded and just give Anastasia to him. In this time, Raymond had also figured out Lucian's character. He believed that even if he married Anastasia, Lucian would still help them with the trade route issue.
"Anastasia marrying you is her good fortune!" said Mayor Raymond, his voice firm. But then, his tone changed, and his eyes turned sharp again.
"As a father, and as the mayor of Ironforge, I also want my daughter to have a worry-free future. Her husband should be strong enough to protect her and run a home."
"The Blackstone Trade Route in the second half of the year is crucial for Ironforge. The profits are huge, but it's also dangerous. Michael's mess hasn't been fully cleaned up yet, and the road isn't exactly safe."
"I want to give this trade route as part of Anastasia's dowry, along with the marriage to the Harrow family. This is both the Acheson family's sincerity and a test for my future son-in-law. What do you think, Lucian?"
Lucian took a sharp breath.
The trade route was definitely a tough job, but how much profit you made depended on your own skills. If you were lucky, you could make three or four times the money. And Raymond was just handing it over to him?
This dowry was way too valuable.
Unlike the previous arrangement, where Lucian was just a guard and didn't care how much money was made on the trade route, he had no stake in it. He only got the Acheson family's marriage promise, no matter if it was a profit or a loss.
But now things were different. He not only got the marriage promise, but also got the trade route for free. As long as he made back the investment, everything else would go to the Harrow family-and to him!
How could Lucian not be shocked? Raymond was being way too generous.
"If the mayor of Ironforge is willing to trust me, then I'll take on this task. Don't worry, I promise not to fail you."
Mayor Raymond chuckled: "At this point, still calling me Mayor Raymond?"
Lucian smiled knowingly: "Father-in-law!"
Anastasia stood nearby, her face already flushed red like a ripe apple. Even though she was shy, she didn't look away. She raised her head bravely, her blue eyes full of hope for the future.
After all, she was going to get married anyway. And marrying
Mr. Lucian was definitely a good thing!
The deep autumn of Ironforge was unusually lively because of a coming wedding. Lord Harrow was marrying the mayor's daughter. Their banquet invited all kinds of people, not extravagant, but full of respect.
By midnight, the guests outside were having a great time. And in the bedroom, the newlyweds slowly took off their clothes...
