Chapter 556 - Chapter 214: The Death God's Gift, and Harry's Greatest Desire... (12,000 Words)

The argument among the little elves didn't catch everyone's attention; after all, it was just some banter, not escalating into a fight.

Ron's attention was completely captivated by the large chicken leg on the table, roasted to a golden hue, making one's mouth water at the sight.

Especially someone like Ron, a level ten chicken leg connoisseur, had absolutely no resistance to these little guys.

As for the big turkey on the table?

Who in their right mind eats turkey for no reason...

The meat is dry and not tasty, just placed there for appearances.

On a small table not far away, there were gingerbread and eggnog.

Even as minors, Hermione and Ron could enjoy a bit of eggnog during this holiday.

The Christmas tree was adorned with an array of small gifts, but most were decorative; Little Sirius didn't intend to gift them to anyone.

They looked nice hanging on the tree, adding a festive Christmas atmosphere.

Even wizards, now influenced by Muggle holidays, began to celebrate this holiday.

Not only did the Prophet Daily unprecedentedly not report a secret history of the Black family, they even used a large portion of their space to advertise for various merchants.

For example, various promotions at Zoko's Joke Shop, and announcements of new products at Duke Honey.

"I really think Zoko's Joke Shop has started to decline," Ron said, pointing at the newspaper. "Their joke shop is living off past glory with no innovation... Ever since I can remember, that store has had the same things, never changing over the years."

"Actually, they've had the same products since we were in school," Little Sirius said, crossing his legs. "I can recite their stock backward..."

"Yeah, but there's still no joke shop in the Magic World that can compete," Hermione said, crossing her arms over the open book on her lap. "I think that's one reason for their complacency... Also, their things aren't cheap. I remember Lavender Brown complained to me about it."

"That's why I think your two brothers should consider developing something in this area," Little Sirius said with a grin. "I remember... they invented a fun candy called 'Instant Escape Candy,' right? It's a nice little thing that causes a quick nosebleed—reacts quickly... Several students tried to use it to skip class, but I saw through it."

"They don't think about much else every day," Ron said, spreading his hands. "I find they're very keen on pranks, wanting to be joke shop owners more than becoming outstanding wizards."

"But we can't expect everyone to dream of becoming an outstanding wizard, Ron," Vivi said. "Society is made up of different levels of people, that's an undisputed fact. Someone has to do other things—besides, becoming an outstanding wizard isn't the only path, of course, it might not lead to a good life either."

"That's true," Ron nodded hesitantly. "But my mom always thinks students should behave like students. She hopes George and Fred will graduate step by step like Bill and Charlie, then find a job and live a stable life."

"That life might suit Percy, but definitely not Fred and George, trust me," Harry patted Ron's shoulder. "Those two have restlessness in their bones; I don't think they'll be the kind of obedient kids who follow the path your mom set for them step by step."

"You're right, I think so too," Ron agreed, nodding.

Outside, Luqi came in with a stack of newspapers.

"These are the latest newspapers, Madam,"

Luqi approached Vivi and handed over the newspapers.

Vivi took the newspapers but didn't hurry to read them; instead, she placed them aside.

Seeing that the Madam didn't read the newspapers, Luqi hesitated to speak.

Noticing Luqi's unusual behavior, Vivi curiously asked, "What's the matter, Luqi? Is there something you want to tell me?"

"Just now... Luqi saw some news in the newspaper," Luqi stammered. "Of course, Luqi didn't mean it, she just glimpsed news about the young master..."

The "young master" in Luqi's words referred, of course, to the white-haired Gellert Grindelwald.

Little Sirius didn't catch on at first; he thought it was some younger member of the Grindelwald family.

"It's Gellert? What's up with him?" Vivi reached over, picked up the newspaper, and scanned it carefully.

Little Sirius finally realized and exclaimed, "Wow," he said in a low voice, "I thought it was someone else. Who would've thought the 'young master' of the Grindelwald family is that Gellert Grindelwald? My Melina!"

"What's so strange about that?" Ron raised an eyebrow, saying, "With a sister who's half a senior, no matter how old Mr. Grindelwald gets, he's still the young master of the family—after all, he hasn't married yet."

Hearing this, Dumbledore pretended to be very interested in the chandelier above, carefully examining the patterns on it.

Little Sirius unobtrusively glanced at Dumbledore, knowing, of course, some little anecdotes between Dumbledore and Grindelwald—though knowing didn't mean Little Sirius understood them.
