Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 : Flames in the Void

Deep in space, a massive wave of crackling flames surged across the void, tearing through the silence with terrifying power. Space itself distorted in its wake, splitting with jagged cracks as the flames consumed everything in their path. Any molecular structure it encountered was instantly reduced to nothing—obliterated beyond recognition.

These were no ordinary flames. They shimmered and flickered between three ominous hues—vibrant crimson red, endless void black, and dazzling golden light that flared like collapsing stars.

This apocalyptic inferno tore through constellations and star systems, melting asteroids, scorching celestial debris, and even dimming the faint zodiac lights scattered across the cosmos. It was as if the universe itself recoiled from its approach. And the flames… they were moving toward a single, fragile target—a vibrant blue marble of a planet, with oceans and glowing cities visible from space.

Earth.

_______________

Somewhere on Earth, at precisely midnight…

A colossal, high-security building towered in the dark. Its steel exterior gleamed under the moonlight, and bold letters across the upper wall spelled out: "SPACE MONITOR."

Inside, on the upper floors, chaos danced under the rhythm of urgency. Dozens of professionals in uniform moved rapidly between glowing monitors, transmitting signals, and working in sync with their bonded beasts. The tension in the air was palpable. Everyone understood—they were on the edge of something catastrophic.

At the center of this storm stood a tall man clad in a sharp black suit, holding a transmitter tightly in one hand. His expression was grim, lips pressed into a thin line.

Static buzzed through the radio as if some distant voice tried desperately to break through. The man's voice cut through the room sharply.

"Special Force, do you copy?"

Only silence.

"Special Force, do you copy?" he repeated, his tone more urgent.

A moment passed before a soft female voice answered, slightly distorted through the signal.

"Special Force, Eagle Squad Leader speaking. What's the situation?"

The man frowned. "Eagle Squad is a B-ranked unit, correct? This is an A-rank emergency at the very least. Possibly S or SS. I don't believe your team is qualified to handle this."

On the other end of the line stood a young woman, probably in her twenties. Her long jet-black hair reached just past her shoulders. She stood dressed in white flowing pajamas, wrapped in the soft glow of her room. Her sharp blue eyes stared through her room's towering glass window into the night sky. On her feet—fluffy bunny slippers.

She clenched the transmitter. "Sir, with all due respect, my Eagle Squad may be ranked B, but we've handled multiple A-rank situations due to emergency deployments. I formally request that we take this one."

The man let out a sigh, rubbing his forehead. "Fine. Nothing to lose on my end. Everything to lose on yours."

"Thank you, sir," she said, her voice firm. Her fists tightened.

"What's the emergency?" she asked quickly.

The man hesitated. "I received a distress signal from my void-space satellite beast. It detected something… approaching Earth."

Her expression sharpened. "Approaching? What exactly is it?"

"I asked my beast the same question," he muttered. "Its response… it said, and I quote—'I cannot commit blasphemy.'"

The girl's eyes narrowed. For a beast to say such a thing..., it is almost impossible as a beast usually holds its master in the highest regard.

"Sir, how are we supposed to engage with something we know nothing about—no origin, no exact structure, no weakness?"

"I've got partial data from the vision I shared with my beast," the man said, tapping his pocket. "It's a living entity, or maybe a creature inside a shell. Possibly an asteroid. But it's on fire—coated in multi-colored flames that shift unnaturally. It's coming fast. My calculations say we have about forty minutes before impact."

"Sir… is it going to hit somewhere near us?"

"Yes," he said solemnly. "Based on trajectory estimates, impact will occur in Red Leaf City, just to the perimeter of the White Tower."

Her breath caught. "White Tower…"

"Yes. I want your squad to evacuate the area immediately," he continued. "We can't confront this thing in space. We'd lose half our strength up there. But if it lands… we might stand a chance, depending on how much force remains after impact."

She nodded. "Understood. We'll evacuate the area and monitor post-impact activity."

"Good. You've got twenty to thirty minutes, tops. I've already alerted the major news outlets to broadcast emergency warnings. Now I need you to get everyone out."

"Understood, sir." She ended the call.

Drawing a small glowing circle in the air, a palm-sized, orange, cat-like beast materialized in her hand, purring softly.

"Hey little guy," she said, petting its head. "Time to alert the squad."

The tiny beast lit up in orange radiance.

"All Eagle Squad members, this is an emergency call from your leader," her voice echoed through multiple mental links. "We have an A-grade crisis. Report to my residence in five minutes. Full mission briefing upon arrival."

All across the city, elite agents in pajamas, sleepwear, gyms, and offices immediately sprang into action after receiving this information from a similar cat beast.

In seconds, they transformed—suited up in obsidian black battle armor, moving with practiced speed

On their left chest plate: two shining silver medallions.

The first was a roaring dragon encircled by the words "Special Force."

The second: a massive eagle with wings spread in flight.

Their leader, too, was now dressed. Her black battle suit fit snugly around her lean frame, with golden medallions in place of silver—signifying her command status. Her long hair was tied in a sharp ponytail, and her expression had turned icy cold.

She stepped out of her sleek, modern house in approx. 5 minutes just as the distant roar of massive flying beasts echoed across the skies.

A smile tugged at her lips.

"It's about to get wild."
