Nearly two years passed.
One day, two figures emerged from an underground research institute: Android 19 and Android 20 (Dr. Gero himself).
Dr. Gero smirked. "Haha! Android 19, let's go out and stretch our legs. It's time the people of Earth learned just how powerful I am."
"Yes, Doctor!" Android 19 replied with a smile.
But just as they were about to leave, Dr. Gero suddenly sensed several powerful auras moving nearby.
His expression darkened. Someone was watching them.
On the mountainside, the Z Warriors were carefully searching the area.
Krillin scratched his head. "Weird… Goku said there might be androids here, but we haven't seen a single person!"
"Maybe we missed something," Yamcha suggested.
Tien shook his head. "No, Goku wouldn't make a claim without reason. Let's keep looking."
Piccolo narrowed his eyes as he scanned the area. "Goku also said the androids have no Ki signature. That alone makes finding them a lot harder."
The group continued their search, unaware that inside the underground base, Dr. Gero and Android 19 were in shock.
"How could this be?!" Dr. Gero muttered, panicked. "How did they find this place already? Damn it!"
If they went outside now, they'd be discovered instantly.
Though confident in his androids, Dr. Gero dreaded facing Goku directly.
After all, Goku had crushed every opponent before him.
Even Gero, who prided himself on his genius, wasn't certain he could win.
If he stayed hidden, his work might be destroyed. If he went out, Goku could annihilate him.
Finally, Dr. Gero made up his mind. He turned toward the lab's inner chamber.
Android 19 tilted his head. "Doctor… are you thinking what I think you're thinking?"
"That's right," Dr. Gero said coldly. "We must activate Android 17 and Android 18. Without them, we don't stand a chance against Goku."
Android 19's eyes widened. Even he knew 17 and 18 were… unpredictable.
Gero himself wasn't sure he could control them, but against Goku, he had no choice.
The two walked deeper into the lab.
Dr. Gero pressed a switch, and two chambers hissed open.
Inside, Android 17 and Android 18 slowly stepped out, their eyes adjusting to the light.
Dr. Gero grinned proudly. "Yes… magnificent! Android 17, Android 18 — my greatest creations have finally awakened!"
The two androids glanced at him once and immediately recognized him.
"Dr. Gero," Android 17 said flatly.
They knew exactly who he was — and that knowledge came with no sense of loyalty.
"Seventeen. Eighteen. We're under attack," Dr. Gero ordered. "The ones outside are our enemies — especially Goku. Fight them with me!"
"Goku?" Android 17 murmured, turning to his sister. "What do you think, Eighteen?"
"I don't care," she replied with a shrug.
Then 17 noticed another chamber.
Dr. Gero's face paled. "No! Don't open that one! It's incomplete — too dangerous!"
Android 18 smirked. "Dangerous, huh? Sounds interesting."
They moved toward the pod.
Panicking, Dr. Gero rushed to stop them. "You fools, don't touch it!"
Suddenly, a flash of light pierced through his head.
Dr. Gero froze in disbelief, looking down at the smoking hole in his body.
He turned to Android 17. "Why…? Give me a reason…"
"Because you're annoying," Android 17 said emotionlessly. "It's simpler to kill you."
Before Gero could respond, Android 18 blasted him again. His body was blown apart, reduced to nothing.
Android 19 stood frozen in shock. His creator was dead, and he was next.
Sure enough, 17 and 18 immediately turned their attacks on him.
19 quickly raised his hands, his palms glowing.
As the twin blasts slammed into him, his energy-absorbing devices activated.
BOOM! BOOM!
The energy was sucked straight into his body. Android 19 laughed. "Hahaha! You're too arrogant! I've absorbed all your power!"
17 and 18 exchanged a glance, silently acknowledging his trick.
Then, without hesitation, 18 lunged forward, launching a relentless assault on him.
