Chapter 10 - The price of inaction

Yushai put the phone in his jacket pocket. He looked ahead, where several monitors were heading in front of him, resembling mantises only coated with black metal.

The sound is in the bushes, there are also several praying mantises. Yushai creates golden spears out of thin air and cuts the mantis that was right in front of him. After turning around, he cuts two more at once.

Yushai's palm opened and threads began to appear in it. Strong as steel but thin as real threads.

He connected all these creatures and subsequent monsters in his path with these threads. Yushai was dragging me in one direction. From the throne of Mount Yach. It is located on the opposite side of the Fiti River.

The forest is rare. The air was getting drier, warmer. Gray rocks were already rising in the distance - the foot of a dormant volcano.

Once it erupted so much that the earth trembled for tens of kilometers around. Now it was just smoking quietly, covered with frozen layers of lava.

Yushai climbed the trail. Behind him were the bodies of defeated creatures, tied with threads in a long, rustling tail.

He threw them into the cracks leading to the center of the volcano.

No reaction, just a little noise and a crackle.

"That's not enough," Yushai gritted his teeth.

Yushai started throwing his spears at the edge of the volcano. Thereby causing the edge to fall from the tip of the earth tower into the lava.

"And there's nothing to do again," Yushai rubbed his face with his hands.

Yushai closed his eyes, a memory of yesterday's memories surfaced in front of him. More precisely, 72008th 'Today'

Saigid, on the contrary, is silent, tired. He said the same thing every time. You don't do anything, Yushay.

"I do," he answered, as always. "You just can't see it right away."

Saigid sighed.

"You call it 'waiting for the moment', but in fact you're just afraid.

You're used to considering yourself a victim. Every day is the same and you still choose to suffer rather than act."

Yushai remembered these words by heart.

He could say them before Saigid opens his mouth.

He even tried to change the answer once, but still - at the end Saigid said the same thing: "You're a coward"

He's on the edge of a volcano right now. "no... I have no idea what will happen next, but.... I will implement the most unrealistic options until I get the desired result!"

Yushai's palms shone and golden threads began to spin from them. Yushai began to show their strengths.

Crystal walks around the crowd, his amber eyes focused on Saigid. He recognized him. Through the black mask of the crystal, his eyes were visible, they were like real amber. He left as if nothing had happened before.

Saigid doesn't move. Not a muscle.

He feels the weight of Crystal's gaze like a blade pressed to his throat—amber eyes locking onto him through the mask, knowing.

A beat. Then another.

And just like that… Crystal turns and walks away.

Saigid exhales slowly, jaw clenched so tight it aches. The air around him hums faintly—his power reacting to instinct, begging to be unleashed.

"He knows," he murmurs under his breath, voice low and dangerous. "And he's playing games."

He pockets the phone and moves swiftly toward an alley exit, motioning sharply for Lyutich and Kakhach without looking back.

"We're leaving. Now."

The three men move quickly, slipping out of the alley, their footsteps echoing off the walls.

Saigid scans the streets, eyes narrowed, every sense on edge. He can't shake the feeling that Crystal is somewhere nearby, watching, waiting.

"I swear," he mutters through clenched teeth, "Yushai had better not have done something stupid."

Saigid stops short as the news blasts from a nearby street monitor, every muscle tensing.

"Volcanic eruption?" he mutters under his breath as he reads the text, an edge of disbelief in his voice. "Now? Of all the times for the damn volcano to start spewing...!"

He scans the street again, every nerve taut. "Of course. Because this place didn't have enough chaos already."

Kakhach looks out the window at the buildings. Crystal is looking at him there. "He's provoking me!" he shouted and activated the ability.

[Words of truth]

"Stronger hands!" Kakhach beats with his fists.

His hands seemed to be covered with glitter and became crystal. He grabs the car by the wheel and throws it right at the masked man.

Lyutich looks at Saigid and does not understand what he is doing in this case

The car does not have time to get into the building as a wave of crystals appears from the building.

Saigid just... watches.

His eyes follow Kakhach as the man throws a damn car like it's nothing—the force of the throw echoing like a cannon blast. He blinks. Then, after a beat:

"He's... using a goddamn car as a projectile...? Seriously?"

Then the wave of crystals appears, and Saigid curses under breath.

"And because why would this not be any crazier."

Saigid watches Loku and the raven vanish into the sky, leaving behind only a trail of smoke and feathers.

"Great," he mutters dryly. "Everyone's running except us. Classic."

He glances at Lyutich, whose face is pale with confusion—clearly still wondering why he's standing in a city that's falling apart.

"...We're not dying here," Saigid says sharply, voice firm. "Not today."

He turns toward the exit—the Fiti River is now both a destination and an evacuation zone.

"Move. If Yushai's already there... we might just walk straight into whatever storm he's brewing."
