Chapter 24 - Dissect

Chapter 24

Back on the battlefield, Zain was gone from his spot, leaving a lightning afterimage. He appeared beside Dax, stabbing with his spear.

How troublesome. Can I use telekinesis to block lightning? he questioned Inerous, but there was no time to think. He blocked with his palm, propelling the spear.

His judgment was right, but his hand was blasted back by an intense shock. Pain traveled through his body, stunning him.

An opening.

Zain gripped his spear, taking a step back. In a split second, he stabbed a hundred times. Though the spear didn't pierce through, the chain of lightning attacks damaged Dax.

Arg! . This lightning is not normal. Its intensity is outrageous. He took close notes from the damage taken.

This is why I reduced my realm—to experience this battle to its fullest. Dax was ecstatic.

"So this is what mana and aura can do? Ohh, I wish I had it." An old friend returned to him: his greed. "I… I want to study you." Dax's body began to shiver with madness.

Show me more of your capabilities. I want to understand.

Dax's heart beat with vigor. Gently, energy seeped from his Killing Seed, covering his being. He was truly happy, but his face revealed no emotion. He stretched his hands apart, and a demon with six hands and three faces took form.

Instantly, the Killing Demon manifested, kicking Zain and sending him flying.

Cough. Blood covered his lips.

What was that?

He stabilized himself, focusing his gaze on Dax. That was when he felt it—the oppressive aura of killing. He couldn't move. Suddenly, his vision turned dark. Before him was Dax, his face half-hidden, his eyes glowing demonically.

Behind him, a terrifying figure of unforgiveness stood menacingly, arms spread apart, imitating Dax. Two hands stretched down, one stretched horizontally, and the other pointed up to the sky. Etched on each face was the dreadful scream of the lost.

Is that some sort of summon? Zain questioned himself, but sensing the pure aura of killing, he shook his head.

He is too dangerous.

Zain took a stance. Thunder blast.

He drew his spear back like a bolt. Less than a second later, afterimages of himself shot toward Dax.

That moment, the demon behind Dax split into four figures, blocking the attack with grace.

Dax stretched his legs apart, stretching one hand forward and dragging the other back. His presence became cold and oppressive. His form like that of a master of death.

"One doesn't need a blade to kill. The body alone is capable. That makes us weapons in our own right."

"Killing only knows one thing."

Dax blurred, then vanished.

Where did he go? Zain looked around. His senses screamed at him.

Move, damn it!

Dax appeared before Zain at an impossible speed, blasting him toward the edge of the ring. But before he could be thrown out, the Killing Demon appeared, striking him with two palms. That instant, it held him in place as two more demons appeared.

Death! Zain's senses screamed. He wasn't joking about killing me.

In that moment, his surroundings slowed down. His mind raced. I need to move. His eyes traced to the demon's hand clamped onto him.

Shining brighter than ever. "I will not lose!" he screamed.

Multiple paths appeared before Zain. Currently, thousands of movements—from him, from Dax, from the demon—were laid bare before him. Suddenly, he phased through the demons, his body turning into lightning.

He appeared meters away, taking deep breaths.

I'm almost out of energy. He adjusted himself, but in a blink, Dax was behind him.

"Foresight." Dax murmured, his Origin Eyes drinking in the fading afterglow of the ability.

"Such special eyes..."

Zain eyes widened in shock. His trump card was exposed.

"It's a shame.

The dataset is complete. I have to end this now."

Killing Series, 2nd Form: Blood Flow.

Dax squeezed his fist. Killing intent burst from his body with brilliant force, covering the sky. Clouds gathered, and all wyverns descended in fright. Currently, Dax looked like death himself. All the demons scattered across the ring gathered, entering his body.

Zain felt naked before Dax, as if he were dissecting his every move.

What is this? Is this what it feels like to be toyed with? Zain felt defeated.

"I am not going to beg for my life," he said, halting Dax's attack. This is probably the punishment the ancestor spoke about.

He closed his eyes. At least I get to die in battle. But tell me… how did you find out about my eyes? Zain suddenly grew a humble nature.

"Such rugged will." Dax smiled, instantly canceling his attack. "You don't fear death," he said in a calm tone.

Zain paused, suddenly silent.

"If you become my slave, I will tell you how I know about your left eye," Dax smiled innocently.

"Then please, kill me." Zain dropped his head, embracing death.

"You give me no choice."

One of the Killing Demon's lower hands shot forward, fingers melding into a single, ghastly point that pierced through Zain's chest from behind.

Thud.

Zain fell to the floor, lifeless.

"Don't worry death has nothing to teach you."
