Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Mew Is Here Again

Pichu didn't just possess raw strength. Its mastery over Electric-type energy had reached an extraordinary level of perfection.

Its Nuzzle attack not only inflicted considerable physical damage on Ursaring but also left it paralyzed and unable to move freely.

The paralyzed Ursaring roared and swung its massive right fist toward Pichu — a desperate final counterattack.

Unfortunately, it was useless. Pichu's speed far surpassed Ursaring's. Even in normal conditions, Ursaring would've struggled to land a hit, let alone while paralyzed and slowed down.

Its fist crashed into the ground, shaking the forest and creating a deep crater.

Pichu flinched slightly at the impact. That kind of power… if it had been struck, the consequences would've been unimaginable.

Thankfully, that was no longer possible — because now, it was Pichu's turn.

Sweet Kiss, Tail Whip, and other status-altering moves were unleashed in rapid succession, completely overwhelming Ursaring.

[Volkner: Pichu's move set is downright devious.]

Paralysis, Attack reduction, Confusion, Defense drop — this combination could dismantle nearly any Pokémon.

[Gary: That's completely different from Ash's usual fighting style.]

[Misty: Yeah, our Ash only knows how to charge in recklessly.]

[Daisy: "Our"? Moving a bit fast there, Misty.]

[Lily: Hehe, I'd say "my" Ash sounds more accurate.]

[Misty: You two—!!]

But Gary and Misty's claim that the two Ash's battle styles were completely different wasn't entirely true.

The Ash from the Parallel World also preferred overwhelming force.

However, his Pichu wasn't yet strong enough to rely purely on power, so he had to develop a more tactical, adaptive style — one perfectly suited for Pichu.

After defeating Ursaring, Ash and Pichu prepared to leave.

"Mew."

They froze.

Ash frowned and turned around. Another Ursaring had appeared out of nowhere.

"Mew," the Ursaring said again, its mouth curving into an unsettling smirk as it raised a finger and wagged it between Ash and Pichu — a clear provocation.

Ash's expression remained calm, unreadable. But Pichu? It exploded with rage.

Someone dared to provoke it — the Overlord of the Beginner Village?! Clearly, this thing had a death wish!

Pichu turned to Ash, waiting for just a single nod — one command — to rush in and tear this fool apart.

"Go."

That was all it needed.

With a confident spark in its eyes, Pichu charged straight at its opponent.

It was the same battle formula as before — opening with Nuzzle.

But this Ursaring was different. Its strength was clearly above the last one.

It took the Nuzzle head-on without flinching. Not only did it shrug off the attack, but the usual paralysis effect didn't even activate. Nuzzle had completely failed.

Pichu didn't yet realize how serious this was. Fine — if Nuzzle didn't work, it had other tricks.

It gathered its energy, preparing to use Charm.

Pichu brought its little hands to its lips, ready to blow a kiss — but suddenly, an unexpected scene unfolded.

The "Ursaring" waved its finger.

Pichu's Charm was instantly interrupted. Then, as if possessed, Pichu charged forward uncontrollably.

Huh. Huh? Huh?!

Three consecutive "huhs" captured Pichu's confusion perfectly. What was happening? Why was its body moving on its own?!

Before Ash could react, "Ursaring's" massive fist came crashing down —

The Overlord of the Beginner Village was defeated.

[Will: Speak up, Ash, speak! Haha, just as I said! This Pichu can only bully weak Ursaring. Against a real one, it's totally useless!]

[Norman: The first Ursaring was an underdeveloped Ursaring? That's your insight, Will? No wonder you're still just a candidate for the Elite Four — your judgment's a joke.]

[Volkner: If your eyes are that blind, go get them treated. To slander Pichu like this, you're even ignoring the obvious truth now.]

[Diantha: Wait, was that move Encore? That's… strange. I've never seen an Ursaring use Encore before.]

[Norman: Now that you mention it, yeah — Ursaring shouldn't even be able to learn that move.]

[Cynthia: And another thing — since when does an Ursaring say "Mew"?]

Something was off. Way off.

With suspicion rising, everyone stared at the black-bordered screen again.

Something wasn't right — and they were about to find out what.

"Long time no see, Mew."

Mew…?!
