The air on Floor 56 was suffocating. It smelled intensely of rotting stomach acid and humid, wet flesh.
Leo's heavy combat boot came down hard, instantly crushing a massive, dog-sized Parasitic-Leech. Thick, foul-smelling yellow ichor exploded across the squishy, membranous floor.
"Gross," Leo grunted, wiping a splash of yellow bug blood off his leather coat.
Floors 56 through 65 were a continuous, disgusting gauntlet. The environment was a biological nightmare. They were walking through the literal digestive tract of a dormant Leviathan. The walls were made of dark red, pulsating muscle. Fleshy, veiny stalactites hung from the low ceilings, constantly dripping warm, acidic fluids.
A swarm of ten Acid-Mites scuttled rapidly down the fleshy walls, aiming directly for Katherine.
