Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Enigmatic Shopkeeper

Li Yang, equipped with Level Two Mental Power, has keen observational skills.

He noticed a middle school student and some hooligans constantly tailing Xiaocheng.

The middle school student exudes a fierce aura.

He was there to cause trouble for Xiaocheng.

Suzu paused for a moment, then burst into laughter, her eyes curving into crescents:

"Do you really intend to help him?

You've already obtained what you wanted, why bother with him?

Besides, wouldn't it be better if he were dead?

This way, no one will know your secrets."

Suzu spoke, leaning closer to Li Yang:

"I know you well, you're not a good person, you wouldn't hold promises in high regard."

Suzu's pupils turned slit-like, emitting a faint purple glow, her tone filled with hypnotic allure:

"Did something happen in the past that makes you sympathize with this child?

Tell me about your past, and I'll soothe your wounded soul...

Your past, it must be quite delicious!"

Li Yang slowly turned to a new page:

"As a cat, you sure talk a lot.

Oh, remember to erase that child's memories when we're done."

How would a cat understand the process of collecting desires?

Having promised to resolve his dilemma, resolve it, he must.

If he broke his word during the 'desire transaction,' he didn't know if it would bring misfortune upon himself.

Suzu giggled:

"Just joking, you're so easily teased.

I'm off, remember to get me a tablet tomorrow!"

With that, Suzu disappeared from the pharmacy in a flash.

...

After leaving the pharmacy, Xiaocheng headed towards home.

His living expenses were scarce, so he was accustomed to walking.

As he reached a dark alley, several hooligans blocked his path, each looking hostile.

Xiaocheng panicked, attempting to turn back, but several more emerged behind him, armed with sticks.

He was surrounded by them.

The leader of these hooligans was named Zhou Hang.

Xiaocheng's face became grim:

"Wha-what are you doing here?"

Zhou Hang fished out a cigarette from his pocket.

A lackey quickly offered him fire, mimicking the demeanor of a big shot.

Zhou Hang spoke:

"Loser, that chick jumped off the building because of her own stupidity.

If she had spent some fun time with me, it wouldn't have come to this.

How dare you report this to the Public Security Bureau?

Do you have any idea how much trouble your foolishness has caused me?"

Xiaocheng understood now; someone had informed Zhou Hang of his complaint.

He'd heard that Zhou Hang's father was powerful, an underground syndicate boss.

This was why Zhou Hang could gather a bunch of thugs around him.

But he hadn't expected his father to be so influential, even having ties within the Public Security Bureau!

Xiaocheng clenched his fists, his pent-up anger exploding:

"Zhou Hang, what did I ever do to offend you?

Why do you treat me this way, why attack those around me?!"

Zhou Hang exhaled a puff of smoke, sneering:

"It's just amusing.

If not you, it'd be someone else.

It just so happened that it was you.

Actually, I don't even like that chick who jumped.

I just wanted to see what you'd do when she became my girl."

Xiaocheng stared at Zhou Hang in disbelief:

"Just because of this?

Aren't you afraid I'll take revenge on you someday?"

Zhou Hang spoke in a chilling voice:

"Someday?

Ha, you won't have a someday.

Who knew you'd have the guts to tell someone about that day's events?

My father taught me that to seal a mouth, one must eliminate completely."

Xiaocheng was dumbfounded.

What did that mean??

Was Zhou Hang capable of murder?

Xiaocheng slowly backed away, leaning against a corner, breathing rapidly:

"Zhou Hang, if you kill me, you won't get away with it!"

Zhou Hang scoffed:

"Someone will cover for me if anything happens."

Zhou Hang moved closer to Xiaocheng, menace evident in his eyes:

"Besides, these brothers around me are professionals.

The cameras around have all been smashed by them; who would know it was my doing?"

At that moment, a melodious voice came from the alleyway entrance.

"So it was you who broke the cameras, that's a relief for me.

I'm not particularly fond of killing.

As a graceful Witch, the scent of blood is too bothersome."

Zhou Hang's face changed as he shouted:

"Who's there!!"

He abruptly looked towards the alley's end, his expression turning peculiar.

There was a black cat, elegantly walking towards them.

Yes, elegantly, in a way a human would walk on two legs.

The black cat's two front legs were crossed, like a human folding their arms.

"Dem...Demon!"

The hooligans were petrified by this sight.

Anyone spotting such a creature would feel a chill at night.

Shocked, Zhou Hang gripped a stick, aiming it at the black cat:

"Help me out, guys, capture this thing, I'll make sure my dad gets a high price, and you'll all benefit."

The hooligans exchanged glances, desire for money gleaming in their eyes.

Indeed, this strange cat must be worth a lot!

Greed overshadowed primal fear.

They charged toward the black cat.

The black cat's eyes expressed a human-like mockery as its form began to grow, turning into a black panther.

"Miaow!"

The black cat shrieked sharply, transforming into a black Death God, mercilessly taking the hooligans' lives.

In a brief moment, the hooligans were disemboweled, the dark alley turning into a hellish scene.

And Zhou Hang?

After encouraging the hooligans to capture the black cat, he dropped the stick and fled.

Face a Demon?!

What a joke!

Let those hooligans hold off the cat, so he could buy time to escape!

The black cat looked playfully at Zhou Hang's retreating back, smearing its bloodied paw across the ground to draw a pattern.

Then, the black cat placed the stick Zhou Hang had dropped in the center of the pattern.

Zhou Hang halted, ensnared as he began to bang his head against the wall, smashing it to pieces.

Having done all this, the black cat's purple eyes fixed on the petrified Xiaocheng.

Xiaocheng found the black cat's gaze familiar.

Wasn't this the black cat from his recent dreams?

Could it be the pharmacy owner's pet?

The pharmacy owner had struck a deal with him, trading his desires for the resolution of his predicament.

The resolution—was it to use a terrifying monster to kill Zhou Hang?!

The black cat's eyes emitted a purple glow, Xiaocheng's gaze turning dazed as he continued walking toward the alleyway entrance.

Waiting there was a taxi, with the driver also under hypnosis.

After picking up Xiaocheng, the taxi sped toward Xiaocheng's home.

Once Xiaocheng was home, they would forget what happened.

Suzu's Spiritual Power was only Level One; maybe in a decade or so, its Hypnosis would wear off Xiaocheng.

Then Xiaocheng would vaguely recall today.

He would faintly remember a mystical pharmacy, an eerie cat.

And a certain...store owner fond of collecting desires.
