Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Changing Sides

If seven people sit down at the gambling table each relying on their own skills, the final result is unpredictable.

Those who are good at gambling and have good luck are likely to win everything.

While Jiang He and her two companions have neither gambling experience nor special confidence in their luck, which is clearly very disadvantageous in such a situation.

Jiang He's plan ensures that everyone can take turns winning the ante, and no one will have significant losses, achieving a win-win situation.

Of course, this plan also carries risks.

If someone changes their mind at the table and stops following the agreement, refuses to fold when it's their turn but instead raises the bet with good cards, the plan will no longer be executable.

However, as Lu Xinyi said, this possibility is not high.

Because according to the rules, the poker game is fair, and no player is certain to beat six others.

For Community 3's four member collaboration strategy, two issues need resolution:

Firstly, even if they set up the game, only one person can be the winner, and the community rule prohibits trading visa time freely, meaning they cannot share the spoils, which doesn't align with the interests of the other three.

Secondly, Jiang He and her two companions are not entirely without defense, as cooperating could result in one of them having relatively good cards, so they're not completely without chances to win.

Even if things fall apart, it's merely reverting to the initial situation where everyone plays individually relying on luck, without incurring extra losses.

Most importantly, if not using this plan, others cannot temporarily propose a better one either.

Ideally, only one person from the opposing community would gamble against them, but the opponent isn't foolish and won't agree to this condition.

If the stalemate continues, nobody can get on the gambling table, resulting in everyone being deducted money together.

After brief consideration, everyone can only accept that it is the best solution they can currently think of.

Qin Yao was still a bit worried: "One last issue, we are three people, you are four people. If it really comes to breaking faces at the table, we would be at a disadvantage.

"Can you also have only 3 players, so we can play 3 on 3 for fairness?"

However, Lu Xinyi shook her head and decisively rejected this proposal.

"No way.

"According to the game rule, each player must play ten games with players from the other community; otherwise, one would be docked ten thousand minutes of visa time when leaving.

"If we are 3 on 3, what about the remaining person?

"Playing solo with you would be 3 against 1, unfair to our player.

"Finding another two for another 3 on 3 game doesn't have enough time and isn't necessary.

"Moreover, if you refuse to open the next round after the first 3 on 3, the person we have left would be at a loss.

"Having only three people is your own issue, unrelated to our Community 3. We accepted this plan with sincerity, so you should also demonstrate yours.

"Otherwise, we might as well choose not to cooperate, and when leaving, we'd all have our visa time docked together."

Lu Xinyi paused slightly, her tone turning somewhat calmer: "Apologies, though I prefer cooperation, as a player of Community 3, I must prioritize safeguarding my own interests first."

Qin Yao hesitated for a moment, then glanced at the other two, and could only nod at last: "Alright, then let it be this way."

With time pressing, everyone found a gambling table and took their seats.

The countdown on the large screen continued to click down second by second.

This multiplayer gambling table also has mechanical arms for dealing and collecting cards, allowing players to simply sit at their positions, observe their cards, and place bets.

The mechanical arm extends from the center of the table, additionally changing to a new deck each round, likely to prevent card marks or other forms of cheating.

As stated in the game rules, the table ensures absolute fairness for the game.

Qin Yao carefully reviewed the multiplayer rules and card layout for 'Simplified Three-card Brag' at the table.

Similar to when playing against the Chips Exchange Machine, with slight differences, such as:

In multiplayer games, the first banker is randomly selected by the table, and thereafter, the winner of each round becomes the banker in the next;

The banker places the last bet;

Each person has three cards, without the option of the Chips Exchange Machine to draw a fourth card;

If only one person raises, while others call, cards reveal automatically; if two or more raise, no reveal, a new round of betting starts, betting without a ceiling.

Qin Yao eased a little, evidently in this set of rules, each person has a roughly equal chance to win, purely luck-based.

The banker placing the last bet holds a slight advantage, being able to observe others' behaviors to roughly estimate card values, though not too significant.

Soon, everyone placed 1000 worth chips in their betting area, and the mechanical arm dealt cards to the players.

Jiang He looked somewhat delighted, as her luck was good, not in terms of card quality, but in terms of being the banker.

The mechanical arm began dealing cards from the left of Su Xiuqin, indicating Su Xiuqin as the banker for the first round.

According to the previously agreed plan, after each round starts, the player to the right of the banker calls first, chooses to raise, while others choose to fold.

Thus, the player to the right of the banker wins others' ante and becomes the banker for the second round.

The second round follows the same principle, with seven people taking turns counterclockwise, each becoming the banker once, winning others' ante once.

Of course, the game must last at least ten rounds, meaning three people will be the banker twice, making an extra gain of 6000 chips.

The others would lose an extra 3000 chips.

But there's no choice, as the ante is 1000, and seven people can't evenly split ten rounds, so luck must be relied upon.

Thus, everyone agreed to this plan.

At this time, Jiang He and her right-hand side, Qin Yao, had good luck, and would certainly win once, gaining an extra 6000 chips.

Not a small amount indeed.

"Alright, then, as previously discussed, I'll raise."

Jiang He placed a 1000 chip in the betting area.

And on her right, Qin Yao also followed the pre-arranged agreement and opted to fold.

"Fold."

"Fold."

The two players from Community 3 similarly chose to fold.

Everything seemed smooth, proceeding as scripted.

Soon it was Lu Xinyi's turn, opposite Jiang He.

However, an unbelievable scene occurred to Jiang He.

Lu Xinyi took out two 1000 chips and threw them into the betting area.

"Raise."
