Su Xiuqin said with some emotion:
"The thing I remember most clearly in my life is when my husband went to the construction site to ask for his wages. I thought the mine was dangerous, so I told him to see if anyone in town was hiring.
"The construction site had a sign saying meals and accommodation included, 200 a day.
"He was very happy, my pension at the time was only a thousand, and he told me this job paid well, so I didn't have to worry.
"Carrying bricks, carrying cement, whatever they asked him to do, he did. At the end of the month, he had worked 13 days, so he went to find the boss to get this month's wages.
"The boss said, we don't pay wages monthly here, you have to wait until the project is completed.
"My husband was stunned at that time. When would he get paid?
"The boss told him not to worry, saying, I am such a big boss, would I shortchange you out of that little money?
