Chapter 8 - Chapter 5: The Braised Prawns Were All Snatched Up

Activity Room, Construction Area.

Qingqing and Weiwei sat side by side on the soft carpet, surrounded by colorful EVA foam blocks of various sizes scattered around.

They cooperated with perfect harmony.

The blocks they handled, under their arrangement, were uneven yet orderly, stacking layer by layer, gradually outlining the shape of a magnificent castle.

"Sister, look, where should this block go?"

Weiwei held a large block in her hand, somewhat puzzled, seeking help from Qingqing beside her.

Qingqing glanced at the block in Weiwei's hand, then took another look at the unfinished castle, smiled, and pointed to a spot: "I think it could go here, what do you think, little sister?"

Weiwei hesitated slightly.

Her eyes wandered between the spot Qingqing pointed out and the block in her hand, as if she were thinking.

Then she tried placing it to test it out.

When she saw that the block fit perfectly in the spot, her eyes lit up, and the previous puzzle vanished in an instant.

She nodded like a little chick pecking at rice, with admiration for Qingqing in her gaze: "Sister, you're amazing, you can even figure that out."

Speaking of which, a soul-searching question popped into Weiwei's little head: Why didn't I think of that earlier?

"Of course~"

Qingqing replied proudly: "Because I'm the older sister!"

Seems like it~

Otherwise, how could Weiwei have not thought of it herself?

Weiwei tilted her little head, thinking and thinking, finding Qingqing's words to make perfect sense.

Of course, she would never admit that she was a bit inferior to her sister in using her brain.

"Yeah, yeah, sister, you're right, sisters are just a little better than little sisters."

"Hehe~"

Qingqing's eyes curved into crescents, her face beaming with a sweet smile: "Weiwei, let's keep building…"

Their childish chatter was full of innocence and joy.

However.

Yang Yuxi, who was sitting nearby to accompany them, had no heart to join in at the moment.

Her attention had long been drawn by the aroma quietly wafting into the activity room.

Earlier, she had caught a faint savory scent, not very obvious at the time, but now the enticing aroma was directly hitting her nostrils.

Her throat involuntarily moved a bit, and she swallowed her saliva, murmuring: "Huh? Such a delicious smell, could it be that Qingqing's dad has finished cooking?"

Dad has finished cooking?

Weiwei immediately stood up from the carpet, unable to hold back her excitement at this moment.

Following right after was Qingqing; upon hearing the word 'dad', how could the little one sit still?

"I want to go find Dad…" Qingqing's eyes glistened with longing.

"I want to too... I also want to go eat the food dad cooked!"

Influenced by Qingqing's emotions and smelling the clear aroma, Weiwei was drooling and shouting.

Seeing this, Yang Yuxi, who was already itching to move, thought that since the food was ready, there would be no disturbance, so she eagerly suggested: "How about Miss Yang takes you to the kitchen to find your dad?"

"Yay, yay~"

Weiwei, holding Qingqing's hand, cheered and said: "Sister, sister, did you hear that? Miss Yang will take us to find dad, let's go now~"

Qingqing also wanted to go find Dad immediately, but upon seeing the scattered blocks on the ground, she shook her head: "No."

"Why not?" Weiwei's beautiful eyes showed a hint of confusion.

Following her dad's teachings closely, Qingqing explained the reason: "We haven't tidied up the blocks yet!"

Oh dear!

How did I forget about that?

Weiwei, belatedly remembering Huang Jun's teachings, thought: "Yes, dad said that after playing with toys, we have to send them home. Sister, I'll help you tidy up, let's send the blocks home first and then find dad~"

"Okay~"

The two little ones half-squatted on the ground and started to tidy up the messy blocks.

This scene filled Yang Yuxi with surprise and delight.

You should know that children's various skills are slowly learned and cultivated in daily life.

Self-management skills are no exception and require patient guidance and training from parents.

However.

Many children do not know how to tidy up toys before entering the kindergarten, often leaving them aside after playing, never bothering to clean up.

After entering the kindergarten, under the gradual guidance of the teachers, they slowly developed good habits for handling things.

Children like Qingqing and Weiwei, who have already developed the good habit of tidying up independently before even entering kindergarten, are really commendable.

Moreover, they organize things neatly and methodically, appearing very experienced.

This indicates that their parents have been very effective in educating and guiding them in daily life, allowing them to exhibit excellent behavior and habits.

Yang Yuxi couldn't help but secretly plan that, after they completed the enrollment procedures, she would discuss with the director to hopefully have these two little ones assigned to her class.

She believes that Qingqing and Weiwei's self-management skills and good habits will definitely set a good example in the class, and they will also become role models for other children to follow and imitate…

In this way, her work would become a bit easier.

She immediately felt this idea was wonderful.

However, the pressing matter at hand was to first help these two little ones tidy up the building blocks, then go to the kitchen for a taste test. She joined in with a smile, "Qingqing, Weiwei, would you like Miss Yang to help you tidy up?"

Weiwei raised her hands in agreement, "Certainly!"

Qingqing politely said, "Thank you, Miss Yang."

"You're welcome."

Yang Yuxi smiled gently with dimples showing, helping pass the building blocks to them, which sped up their tidying process.

...

"Director Liang, the oil-braised prawns are ready, please have a taste."

In the kitchen, Huang Jun placed the plated oil-braised prawns in front of Liang Yinqiu.

The brightly colored, oil-glazed prawns arranged like a flower, with green onion garnish in the middle, had an appearance comparable to dishes from top hotels.

The rich aroma, carrying the unique fragrance of the prawns, rushed into the nostrils of the three, stimulating their taste buds wildly...

Gulp!

The three of them almost simultaneously swallowed their saliva.

"Thank you for your effort."

Liang Yinqiu showed an awkward yet polite smile to Huang Jun, and then looked at the others, "Everyone, feel free to try some."

"Director Liang, we were waiting for you to say that."

Aunt Li couldn't wait to grab some bowls and chopsticks, distributing them to Liang Yinqiu and Aunt Lin.

Liang Yinqiu took the bowl and chopsticks, immediately picked up a prawn and brought it to her lips.

She slightly parted her red lips and took a small bite.

The first taste was of the rich sauce coating the prawn shell, its thick flavor spreading like a warm current in her mouth, utterly intoxicating her.

As she chewed deeper, the crispy texture of the shell emerged, while the prawn meat itself was exceptional, flavorful yet maintaining its fresh, tender, and springy texture, causing her to involuntarily close her eyes and immerse herself wholly in this wonderful culinary experience.

Savoring carefully.

Her mouth was filled with the rich prawn fragrance and slightly salty sauce that made it irresistible to clean off the shell completely, and she even considered licking the chopsticks.

Though always maintaining her director demeanor, at this moment she couldn't help but softly exclaim, "It's savory and delicious, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with even the prawn meat being perfectly flavorful, each bite makes me fall into a trance, even making the prawn shells hard to resist eating too…"

"Indeed, it's delicious."

Aunt Li and Aunt Lin desperately wanted to emulate Liang Yinqiu's eloquent praise, but due to their limited linguistic skills, they could only express it as "delicious."

Nonetheless, they unanimously agreed that none of the oil-braised prawns they previously had compared to this one before them.

Liang Yinqiu felt the same.

During her workdays, she would also dine at the cafeteria, and she had tried Chef Wei's oil-braised prawns numerous times before.

The taste was indeed quite good.

But when compared with Huang Jun's oil-braised prawns...

Truthfully, it was somewhat inferior.

She admitted, she agreed to Huang Jun's taste test, partly because his sincerity made her reluctant to outright refuse, and partly out of curiosity piqued by the adorable Qingqing and Weiwei, giving him this chance for a taste test.

Initially, she wasn't optimistic about Huang Jun.

Thinking that if his dishes didn't measure up to those of Chef Wei, she would have a reason to politely decline him.

But unexpectedly, Huang Jun's culinary skills surpassed that of Chef Wei's.

This made her glad she didn't dismiss him at first just because he didn't have a chef's certificate, otherwise, she would have missed out on such an outstanding chef.

She intended to have further discussions with Huang Jun, but seeing that the oil-braised prawns on the plate were being quickly devoured by Aunt Li and others, she decided to finish eating them first before discussing the hiring decision, and swiftly grabbed a few prawns into her own bowl.

Just as she was about to continue eating, she was interrupted by a teasing voice, "Director, how come you didn't call me for the taste test…"

Then two soft, cheerful voices chimed in one after the other, "Daddy, we're here to find you~"

The tender child's voice fell sweetly in Huang Jun's ears and warmed his heart.

He didn't need to look to know who had arrived.

It's his two darling daughters!
