Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: My turn, draw a card!

"So they're currently in a state of financial shortage?"

Listening to the discussion outside the door, Cipher pondered thoughtfully.

"Should I go rob the rich to help the poor later? With the power of a Trickster Demigod, it shouldn't go wrong, right?"

"Besides, the system previously said I needed to earn stellar jade for gacha pulls through 'influence.' So, if I transfer the wealth of those rich people to the Spark Team, wouldn't that also count as a form of 'influence'?"

Thinking of this, Cipher began to silently call out to the system, but after calling for a long time, the system showed no reaction.

"It looks like a system without intelligence." Cipher frowned and finally concluded, "But if this system doesn't respond, how am I supposed to do gacha pulls?"

Just as Cipher uttered the words "gacha pulls," a familiar mechanical voice rang out again.

[You currently have 1600 stellar jade (newbie gift pack). Would you like to do a gacha pull?]

"Hmm? The system responded? Is it because of those two words, 'gacha pulls'?"

Cipher suddenly realized. It seemed this system truly was unintelligent, but as long as she mentioned gacha pulls, the gacha option would appear.

"The newbie gift pack actually gave so much stellar jade, so… let's just do a ten-pull!"

Hearing that she actually had 1600 stellar jade, just enough for a ten-pull, Cipher immediately got excited.

[Okay, 1600 stellar jade consumed. Drawing for you now…]

She stuck out her tongue and licked her lips, her eyes shining as she stared at the subtitles in front of her. Even her tail behind her stood up straight, and the tip of her tail began to tremble slightly.

If her luck was good enough, maybe this ten-pull could even glow gold!

Cipher thought this, her heart full of anticipation.

Then the subtitles began to glow with a purple light.

Well, her luck still wasn't good enough.

Seeing this, Cipher's eyes instantly dimmed, and even her previously upright cat ears and tail drooped.

"Sigh, I should have known. How could a gacha game easily give gold early?"

After a frustrated sigh, Cipher looked back at the system's subtitles, wanting to see what she had pulled.

[Congratulations, Host, you have obtained: Box of Packaged Dried Fish x5 (Blue), Box of EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) Grenades x1 (Purple), Box of Nougat Crispy Balls x2 (Blue), Box of SoulGlad x1 (Blue), Quantum Storage x1 (Purple)]

"Hiss… System, tell me, do you call this a Honkai: Star Rail gacha system?"

Looking at the pile of items displayed on the subtitles in front of her, Cipher felt her mind was a bit muddled.

Leaving aside the Nougat Crispy Balls and SoulGlad for now, at least they were Honkai: Star Rail items. But what were Quantum Storage and EMP Grenades? What did she get them for, Escape from Tarkov or Call of Duty?

[Items have been placed in system space, available for use at any time]

However, the aloof system ignored Cipher, and after finishing this sentence on its own, it vanished without a trace.

"Alright, let me first see what these two purple items are for."

Saying this, Cipher silently thought 'system space,' and as she expected, a screen resembling Honkai: Star Rail's inventory appeared before her eyes.

However, unlike Honkai: Star Rail, this inventory did not have other categories, such as for Light Cones, character ascension materials, mission items, and so on.

All the items Cipher had just obtained from the gacha pull were now in this inventory.

As soon as she opened the inventory, Cipher's gaze focused on the item named "Quantum Storage."

Then, a description appeared before her eyes.

[Quantum Storage] (Purple Item):

"This is a small red item from a certain game next door that you can't search for, can't beat, and can't extract from, which a certain rat extracted via a 'Ujidan' extraction. After being modified by mysterious power, it has arrived in this system's gacha pool."

Effect: After inserting the Quantum Storage into a terminal, you can quickly transfer the credit points from the terminal owner's account into the Quantum Storage. At the same time, the user can also transfer the credit points previously stored in the Quantum Storage into it.

"Uh… it really is Escape from Tarkov, and also, what the hell is 'Ujidan' extraction? Just say 'humiliating extraction' already."

Looking at the description above, Cipher muttered a speechless complaint, then looked down.

And then… her eyes instantly turned into the shape of gold coins.

"Does this mean I can directly use this item to steal other people's money?!"

Cipher muttered excitedly.

Although she didn't know what a personal terminal was, based on the Spark Team's conversation she had just overheard, credit points should be the currency of this world. Adding her experience from reading some sci-fi novels, she inferred that a personal terminal was something akin to a mobile phone, bank card, and ID card all in one.

To put it bluntly, the effect of this item was that as long as she got her hands on someone's phone, she could take all the money from their bank card!

What cat wouldn't be tempted by such a good thing?!

Calming her excited heart, Cipher shifted her gaze to the other purple consumable.

[EMP Grenade] x50 (Purple Consumable):

"Don't look, I haven't played Call of Duty. This is just an ordinary electromagnetic pulse grenade."

Effect: Temporarily disables all electromagnetic devices within a ten-meter radius and causes irreversible damage to certain circuits and similar items.

Cipher rolled her eyes, not wanting to comment on the description.

After reading the effect, she closed the system inventory, then put on the appearance of a college student and looked towards the door.

Because the Spark Team's discussion had ended, and they were walking back inside.

Lauren first walked up to Cipher. She smiled, then extended her hand and said to Cipher:

"Do you want to join our team? After all, you've lost your memory now. If you don't know where to go, come to our team."

"Okay."

Looking at Lauren's outstretched hand, Cipher pretended to hesitate for a moment, then agreed to her proposal and took her hand.

"If you don't want to… Eh? So quick to agree?"

Lauren had originally wanted to persuade her, but she didn't expect Cipher to agree so quickly. Was she that simple?

At this, Lauren actually started to worry.

If Cipher was that simple, wouldn't she easily be tricked by those strange uncles later… and Cipher was so pretty… Thinking of this, Lauren shivered, then quickly tried to persuade Cipher to think twice.

But before she could speak, Cipher directly said:

"Although I've lost my memory, my strength is still very strong!"

"Also, I can distinguish between good and evil. You are all good people, which is why I agreed so quickly. Don't underestimate me!"

'Although, even if you really were bad people, you still wouldn't be able to beat me.'

After speaking, Cipher crossed her arms, striking a pose that conveyed, 'I'm really strong, don't underestimate me.'

Although in others' eyes, this gesture was probably more cute than anything else.

Seeing this, the members of the Spark Team exchanged glances, and finally, Lauren reacted.

She directly hugged Cipher, and while Cipher's cat brain temporarily glitched, she happily said:

"Welcome, Cipher the cat, to the Spark Team! One more member joins the team!"

[Joined Spark Team, stellar jade +100]
