Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Caged Beast

Not long after, the car slowly pulled up beside an abandoned warehouse.

Cipher opened the door from the passenger seat and got out. She looked at the abandoned warehouse, which was almost identical in style to the one where the Fierce Tiger Gang's transaction was disrupted yesterday, and couldn't help but complain.

"Why do so many organizations like to conduct transactions in abandoned warehouses? And they're always the same style of warehouse."

"Because the interior of the warehouse is very large, it can accommodate many people, and even if a battle breaks out, its spaciousness makes it suitable for dodging or attacking."

"As for the style issue... these warehouses in this area were indeed produced by the same company before they were abandoned."

Hearing Cipher's question, Claire explained it to her while getting out of the car.

"I'll get those two from the trunk, then we can go for the transaction."

She glanced at the people with guns standing guard at the warehouse entrance, then Claire turned and walked to the trunk, lifting both individuals onto her shoulders.

After confirming that these two would not wake up or die for the time being, Claire said "Let's go" to Cipher, then walked towards the warehouse entrance.

Cipher also followed her to the warehouse entrance.

But just as Cipher was about to enter, a guard holding a gun stopped her.

"Apologies, Ms. Cipher, our transaction is with Ms. Claire. You cannot enter."

Hearing this, both Cipher and Claire frowned simultaneously.

Claire retorted, somewhat displeased:

"Cipher is my partner. Without her, there would be no transaction. Why can't she enter?"

"Apologies, Commander Chu said that whoever contacted them is the one who will conduct the transaction. He doesn't care who facilitated this transaction."

The guard refused again.

"Let Chu Qingyu say that. You, a doorman who isn't even B-class, how dare you speak to us like that?"

As Claire's impatient voice faded, Cipher, standing beside her, saw a pitch-black crack instantly appear in front of the guard's neck, then quickly vanish.

If her dynamic vision hadn't been good enough, she wouldn't have seen this scene.

Immediately after, a wound appeared on the doorman's neck, and blood flowed down the wound, quickly staining his collar.

Claire originally thought the person in front of her would be scared and retreat from her action, but what she didn't expect was that the person still stood motionless, staring sternly at the two of them.

"Apologies, rules are rules. Even if you kill me, my other comrades will come to stop you."

"How many credit points do you earn in a month? Is that enough credit points to buy an urn? Is it worth fighting so hard for?"

Hearing the guard's reply, Cipher asked with a frown.

"credit points? Who would fight for that?" The guard heard the term as if it were a joke.

"We are all gathered here to overthrow the company's tyrannical rule! For this noble ideal, we will not hesitate to sacrifice our lives! How can you, the company's lackeys, understand our feelings! Hahaha, uh..."

A pitch-black crack instantly severed the guard's neck in front of them. The guard's eyes widened, and he clutched his bleeding neck as he slowly collapsed.

It was Claire, unable to resist, who had acted.

Looking at the guard lying on the ground, the fanaticism in his eyes never faded until death, Cipher felt a sense of unease.

What kind of organization could brainwash a living person into this state? This is not much different from a cult, is it?

"Let's go."

Claire's eyes flashed with disgust, then she lifted her foot, intending to step over the guard's corpse and continue forward.

Seeing this, Cipher also wanted to follow her in.

But at this moment, another guard walked over from the side, blocking Cipher's path.

There was no fear or sadness for his comrade's death in his eyes, only a calm determination to carry out orders.

Claire was getting impatient and was about to use her ability to kill this guard again.

However, Cipher stopped her.

"Claire, wait a moment, you go in and do the transaction yourself."

Hearing Cipher's words, Claire looked at her, somewhat confused.

"They've already been brainwashed into death warriors. No matter how many you kill, it's useless. Since they don't want me to go in so badly, then I won't go in."

"I want to see what kind of tricks the Reverse Current Alliance is up to."

Cipher spread her hands helplessly, but upon closer inspection, in those azure blue eyes, what was revealed was not helplessness, but indifference and disdain.

"Cipher, if you stay outside alone... isn't that a bit unsafe?"

"First, you're the one doing the transaction, inside the warehouse, while I'm outside the warehouse, so I shouldn't be more dangerous than you, right?"

"Besides, my strength is even greater than yours, so I should be the one reminding you to be careful."

"But..."

"Oh, stop with the 'buts', the transaction is important."

Before Claire could finish speaking, Cipher pushed Claire directly into the warehouse.

Immediately after, two guards came forward and very consciously closed the warehouse door.

"Phew... Finally got Claire in. Next... it's your turn, isn't it?"

After seeing Claire completely enter the warehouse, Cipher exhaled and turned to look at the residential building across the warehouse street.

"Clap, clap, clap..."

A round of applause came from inside the residential building, then the door opened, and two people slowly walked out of the building.

One of them looked at Cipher, who was standing with her arms crossed not far away, and slowly said:

"As expected of Your Excellency Cipher, with A+ class strength, you could sense us from so far away?"

"Your voices are too obvious, whether it's footsteps, breathing, or heartbeats." Saying this, Cipher extended a hand and pointed to the cat ears on top of her head, "None of it escapes my ears."

After hearing what Cipher said, the person slightly raised his eyes and glanced at her cat ears, then said with some helplessness: "Alright, I admit I underestimated the hearing of cat-gene modified humans, it's truly sharp."

Suddenly, the person's tone changed, becoming somewhat scornful, "But in my opinion, you seem to have underestimated us as well..."

After speaking, accompanied by the snap of fingers, Cipher saw a curtain of light, like an inverted bowl, instantly cover Cipher and the two figures.

"Since Your Excellency's ability is Time Stop, then the smartest thing to do would have been to turn tail and flee with your friend the moment you discovered us, not stand there like an idiot waiting for us to come to you, as you are now."

"But now? This area has been sealed by abilities like an iron barrel. Besides the three of us, not even a fly can escape. So, you who can't even kill a mere B+ class healing ability user..."

"How do you plan to perform this caged beast act, Your Excellency? Will you bare your fangs and put on a show of bravado, or... will you obediently lie down and wait for death?"
