The door to Sierra's apartment clicked shut. Suddenly, the apartment she had lived in for six months, the one she had carefully decorated with string lights, thrifted pillows, and a growing collection of indoor plants, felt half its original size.
Theron stood in the center of her living room, his presence so overwhelming that the mismatched furniture and the modest bookshelf seemed almost toy-like by comparison. He didn't sit down immediately, he stood with his hands loosely in his pockets.
"Nice place," he said. "It has... personality. It's very much you, Sierra."
"It's an intern's salary budget special," Sierra said with a nervous laugh, heading for the tiny kitchen nook to hide the fact that her hands were still shaking from the day's residual adrenaline. "And it's a bit of a mess.I have beer or... I might have some bottled water if the beer is too much."
