Chapter 5 - Chapter 2. Could even she be lucky

What first attracted Mikael to her was the emotion he had sensed from her and as he approached, he was quickly able to say that she looked oddly calm about the entire situation.

There was no tension in her, no visible shaking, no increase in heartbeat, no strong breathing, she was just silent, calm. Almost as calm as him. And this only caught his curiosity more.

Yes, he could finally confirm his reasoning now that he was so close to the lady. It was like she was somehow disappearing from his vision. Like if he looked away, she would suddenly be gone. That was what had confused him initially as he looked in her direction.

'Perhaps a form of Presence concealment ability or skill.' Mikael though but was unsure. The lady could even be a master class member from an assassin clam. They were some of the people in his old world who had great concealment abilities.

Mikael finally arrived at her resting position, and he could see she was covered in dirt, but that did nothing to hide her striking beauty.

She had a light caramel skin tone, and brownish black hair. Standing at about 5'10", if he was being precise, what truly caught his attention finally was the look in her amber eyes as she raised her head to look at Mikael.

It was the same lifeless look he once had—the same anger and hate veiled behind denial. The sort of darkness that made her otherwise beautiful eyes appear like a pool of darkness.

The hate in her eyes was beautiful!

The rage in that gaze sent a shiver down him that Mikael did not understand why. But he knew that hate was not directed at him, it was at someone or something else. And Mikael wondered what had happened. What had caused such emotion?

But that was irrelevant for the moment. While others might see a roadblock, Mika saw an opportunity. And he did feel like he had found a comrade. Only someone with eyes such as herself could understand him. And having an ally early on in this mess he had seen was the tower looked like a favorable thing. And most importantly, his instinct screamed that this was the right choice. And Mikael was once to listen to his instincts.

" Hey, do you want to form a team with me?"

Mikael finally noticed something other than hate from her eyes, it was shock, and soon with that shock the strange concealment that she did somehow disappear and Mikael felt he was suddenly more aware of her presence

'Aha, I was right.' He though while he smiling charmingly at the lady.

...............….

POV: Red Haired Dreamer

He quickly turned away, holding his breath as his body sweated. He tried his best to avoid what he had just seen, to forget what he had managed to witness. How could such terror exist within him.

He did not care; he did not even dare to. But he had confirmed one fact. A monster had just appeared within the tower.

He stalked away quickly, hoping to have not attracted that thing's attention.

But greed was a dangerous thing, and he started to think. How much would it benefit to rope that monster to join him. He thought of the horrible situation he was in before he was reborn, and cold rage rose within his heart. They would all pay!

With these eyes of his, he would make them all pay…

...........

The lady noticed him, as if her mind had just returned from a distant journey. But Mikael could still see the shock in her eyes and was it fear?

But that was odd, Mikael was sure he had never met her, if he had, he would remember. People only showed shock under specific circumstances. Either what they were seeing was too outstanding, or it was through recognition. Mikael had never met the lady therefore the only possibility left was the first one.

Mikael was not arrogant, so he was sure his very handsome visage was not the cause of the lady's shock.

Her body trembled slightly, and her eyes began to search for his own blue eyes for something.

'This lady is truly strange' That was what Mikael though. He was also sure that she was unable to see his stats currently, from the information he had that current function had been blocked among them.

Strange things easily attracted him. Like a moth to a flame.

But Mikael had still not forgotten what had initially brought him to the girl, she knew how to hide her emotions well.

He didn't know if the person who had wronged her was male or female, but given her expression, it must have been someone remarkably close to her—a teammate or a potential lover. It could be either. But he was only making assumptions on his part.

"What do you want? "Her voice was cold and soft, but there were hints of wariness and curiosity mixed in with it. Her initial shock had quickly given disappeared.

Mikael could tell, seeing how her eyes glinted. She looked to have quickly moved past her shock also now remaining calm.

"I want to make a team with you, everyone else looks to be doing it. "Mikael said directly and straight to the point, it was always his style. But it was the truth of the matter, he had noticed how groups had started to form between the other Dreamers.

Most of them crowded around specific people who gave of a strange air of confidence, and smugness. Mikael did not understand why.

"Why do you want to make a team with me? "There was something odd in the girls tone that Mikael failed to catch on to. But what he could understand was that she was more curious about his reason than wary about why he wanted her to join him. And the way she looked at him, a strange sort of wariness and expectancy.

This fact was strange for Mikael; she was not fitting into the profile Mikael had formed of her in his mind and that was quite strange. Her presence was one of anger, hate and vengeance, but the current her was anything other than that. Or could she possibly be just a good at hiding her emotions, that would be interesting.

"You're currently the most interesting person I've seen in this room. "Yes, Mikael for a person who based his action mostly on his desires and somewhat strange logic, this was the best response for him. Because that was the undeniable truth, the lady was too interesting in his eyes. And his ability also seemed to agree with his judgement.

Mikael could see the gears turning in her head, she was coming to her own conclusion that Mikael was unaware of but that was what she wanted. His words implied that he knew something about her and from how the girl had looked at him earlier, she was also aware of something that Mikael himself did not know.

Now she was looking at him, hopefully. No... curious? That was strange, but it didn't matter. Her attention was now on him, and that's all he needed for now.

Then, once again their eyes met, and blue met Amber.

"You can see me…" She spoke in a strange way when she asked that question. As if a realization was just dawning on her.

Mikael made a show of looking around while making an exaggerated expression. "Well, I don't see anyone else around that I would be talking too…or wait don't tell me, you're a ghost and only I can see you!" He made sure to speak in a casual way while adding slight humor, and it worked.

She smiled for the first time. A small smile while her shoulders trembled. She had found it quite amusing.

The tense atmosphere relaxed due to the joke, and the lady was visibly more relaxed.

They soon locked gazes once more and Mikael could she that she was searching for something within his. Mikael had a belief that the eyes were a window. A window that could tell you a lot about someone. His currently were filled with curiosity.

Mikael was not sure what answer she came to, but she took his hand anyway in the end. What he was sure though was she had her reason for doing so.

Mikael sat next to her. Making himself comfortable, ignoring the strange look she gave him.

"My name is Mikael. What about you?"

She looked shocked that he had shared his name, but then her expression relaxed as if she began to believe his words.

"You shouldn't give out your name so easily to strangers. It might cause you future problems!"

She said this seriously—or was she joking? Her eyes were blank, and her face remained stone cold. So, she must have been serious. But what danger could come from a name? Mikael thought but he took note of her warning.

Could this also be her way of refusing to tell him her name? Or was she being serious, like it was a belief from her home planet? He didn't know. There were too many things to think about currently.

He was about to tell her she didn't have to give her name; it was clear he was walking on thin ice.

If he wanted to grow some influence with the person sitting next to him, he would have to be patient.

"I'm Zoe," she finally said, surprising him. But it was good enough; whether it was a fake or real name, progress was being made.

"Good to be collaborating with you, Zoe!" He smiled slightly, and she squeezed his arm in response. There was a short silence, a silence that was quickly broken by Mikael.

"So, Zoe, what do you think makes them so confident? "Mikael asked observing some different groups starting to form. This was his own way of making small talk. It was also the fastest way for a person to grow used to your presence, constantly talking to them.

From what he could hear, the leaders of these groups assured the people gathered around them of an easy and safe route if they followed them.

These words meant a lot of things to Mikael, first, they had information about a future event that was going to happen and secondly, it seemed danger was still in his near future.

"You don't know? "That same shocked look was once again on Zoe, as if she found it hard to understand a conclusion she had come to on Mikael.

But what was this that Mikael did not understand. Mikael showed a clueless expression as he urged her to talk. Zoe was already proving to be quite worthwhile.

Maybe for once he would be the one being carried through hardship.

She sighed, but Mikael noticed a resolve was growing in her. A determination as she looked at him. He noticed the gears turning in her head, the thoughts churning as she made her own deductions about him.
