Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 King cat

The system inventory is a space that does not have time, which means anything in there is suspended in between time and cannot age, neither will it degrade.

Which also mean that, the bodies he store in there cannot drip blood which could form the pool he mention.

At certain intersections of the cave, some cats will jolt out and keep heading in the direction Nil is headed.

But he will quickly stop them and kill them quietly, not letting them raise a voice before he dumps their lifeless body in his inventory.

He did not even remove the mana core from their head and dump them in his inventory directly. As removing it will make him stop for that moment, and in that time frame he might be seen by one of the cat which might raise alarm.

Anyway, he can remove the core from their heads when he have finish the exploration of the dungeon.

After following the footprints for around 30 more minutes, he finally arrived at where the footprints lead to.

Although at some point, the original footprint he was tailing has become a hassle to follow as he couldn't see the trail anymore at some point because the other cats that ate running in the direction have cleaned the one he is following from the ground with their own footprints.

However that proved to be an asset than a liability since the newer footprints are more clearer which made his tailing more fluid and less time consuming.

And there is one more clue he picked up along the way.

Dozens of cats have come to this direction in the last hour. Around forty-fifty of them to be precise.

Looking above where the footprints lead to, he could see a spacious area, the area is so spacious so much so that it 50 humans can stand side by side in there without letting their shoulders touch each other yet there will still be more space to accommodate two two three more.

[Ding!]

[You have activate the skill, Trick light.]

Justin quickly activate his invincibility skill and just like before faded out of perception but now with more ease than the first time he activated it before he went to hide in a corner that isn't too eye-catching.

"What a wide space, in this cave that has been thin and narrow all the while." Nil said astonishingly after securing the position where he can get the best view yet not eye-catching.

But the wide expanse is not what astonished him it was what the cats are doing.

Nil could see cats forming a circle around two individually which are fighting themselves.

Currently both the fighter have lock onto themselves, on pushing the other down as it lock it on the floor while breaking it's legs.

Nil thought the cats are fighting among themselves, that is until he see that the one that was locked in the floor could not fight again and another was called among the standing crowd to enter the stage and fight with the winner.

"Are these cats having a tournament...?" He thought.

The idea of them organizing a tournament is not too farfetched to him, what his confusing him is that—

These cats usually only organize tournaments like this when their king or their queen is dead and they want to choose another one. They chooses their next candidate through duking it out between themselves.

Their king is still alive, so it will mean they are fighting for position of queen. Nil noted noticing that their king is among the spectator and the ones that are participating in the fight are only female cats.

Although the cats king is a spectator it did not simply stay among the crowd that firm a circle around the fighting females, but rather perched atop a raised flat rock 5 feet away from the crowds.

Sitting stop the rock is the cats king which also has a greyish-brown colured fur, but its own fur is much more deeper in colour than the rest.

With a quiet kingly demeanor it raise it's paw which ends in a series of long talon-like nail, much more longer than the cat at the Liquid gathering realm.

Slumbering atop the rock, it gaze at the tournament ongoing like it does not even interest it in the slightest.

Nil continued looking at the cats, watching them as they injured or even kill themselves slowly. Letting their number dwindle as much as possible before he will attack them.

Furthermore he couldn't attack rashly, because the king is at just a step away from the peak of Liquid gathering realm.

The cat king cultivation is firmly at the 8 stage of Liquid gathering realm.

Through watching the ongoing fight though, he notice a flaw in the tournament.

The fighter in stage is to fight any challenger one by one and defeat all of them without losing once, once a fight is lost no more chance to compete.

The flaw he notice can be explain like this; let's assume they are 10 competing for the queen position, two among them is to fight each other first.

Now if one of them win, that winner will have to fight the renaming 8 one by one and if that certain cat wins 7 out of that 8 fight and the last opponent defeat it.

The cat that have win 8 fights already will not be chosen as the queen but the one that won the last fight.

"What a disorganized and impractical way of setting a tournament." Nil almost hit his forehead on a wall.

"That will be no more than cheating the one that have won 8 fights."

He said, however he is not the one that will be going to teach them how to set a tournament and organize it in a more social way.

It ain't the cats fault, at the end of the day, they are just beast with some little more intelligent than earth cats.

'Now let's start eliminating these asshole one by one.' Nil thought as he got into action.

Without letting any of the cats notice, he moved to the back of the line and started killing the ones at the back.

He timed the times of attack before he starts the attack.

Not letting any of the cat notice him, not letting his target suspect him, targeting the wounded only, picking his targets at a position where the cat king eyes did not reach.

And more importantly he attack only when the cats suddenly make a loud shout, which is perfect for masking the yelp his victim made before he toss their dead body inside his inventory.

And like that, the number of the cats start plummeting without anyone noticing.
