Sandy's POV
I tried to follow the creature tearing through the battlefield, slaughtering warriors as if they were nothing more than fragile toys, but my eyes couldn't keep up. Not until he finished decimating most of them and abruptly came to a halt.
His knees crashed into the earth beside the decapitated corpse of the warrior who had screamed for the others to return to human form.
My heart hammered against my ribs while my mind went blank with shock. I stared in frozen terror as ice crawled up my spine and froze the blood in my veins.
Charles buried his face into the dead man's shoulder and began tearing at the flesh with his teeth. The wet, savage sounds carved away pieces of my soul.
A beast.
A carnivorous, bloodthirsty beast.
The terror forced Taylor to cower deep inside me. The fear, the revulsion, the awful truth was beyond what I could process.
