Having someone worry about you felt damn good, and I savored watching Phoebe scramble to find ways to convince me to stay.
Sure, it was twisted to feel satisfied seeing my mate's concern, but hell, it made me feel like I actually mattered to her. Like I held weight in her world.
Phoebe had pulled every trick she could dream up, even the most shameless ones.
Because one afternoon, while I was preparing for the southern mission, I caught her glued to some erotic film.
Her cheeks blazed crimson, and she looked mortified. She'd practically pressed her nose to the screen, volume cranked down so the guards outside wouldn't catch wind of her little viewing session.
They wouldn't have heard anyway, not unless they barged into the room. Phoebe hadn't expected me to swing by after wrapping up my final strategy meeting with the senior warriors and my royal gamma.
She was so absorbed in what she was watching that she didn't even sense me there.
