Chapter 3 - Chapter 3–Journey

An hour later, Liam had finished reading. He put the book back in its place, just as before.

He sighed, because he had been reading while standing for an hour, completely absorbed in the book.

Liam took his watch out of his pocket and gasped, "Huh! It's already half past nine? That was fast..."

He put the watch back in his coat pocket. After that, he hurried out of the library and quickly returned home.

Because yesterday afternoon, when he had just moved into Zavi's body, Isabelle approached Liam, who was in the living room at the time, asking for help to carry her things on Sunday.

At that moment, Liam realised that he was talking to a stranger. But through his memories, he knew that the young woman was the sister of the body he was inhabiting.

To hide his confusion, he agreed to Isabelle's request and asked for a clearer explanation of what she wanted.

Liam hurried to Isabelle's friend's house, which he had been told was located in the Chapena district, No. 10.

The journey there took about seven minutes. Right at the intersection, Liam turned left, running while glancing at and observing the house numbers 1-20.

"Five more," he said softly as he ran, even though his chest felt tight.

Soon after, he arrived. He bowed his head and sighed. After that, Liam stared at the number twenty-five plate attached to the side of the door.

"Is this really his house? But where is he now?" he muttered confusedly as he looked around.

Liam closed his eyes, having no choice but to try. He gathered his courage. He climbed the small stairs, stood right in front of the door, and rang the bell hanging on his right.

Ding! Ding!

The sound of the bell filled every corner of the house, and the residents panicked and immediately checked it. At a glance, Liam could hear faint footsteps in the distance, and the sound grew clearer as time passed.

He swallowed reflexively. The door opened. Standing in front of him was a woman with long black hair cascading over her shoulders, sparkling brown eyes, and a hat that added to her charming appearance.

"Excuse me... I want to see Isabelle, is she here?" he asked, holding her breath.

The woman narrowed her eyes at him, making Liam panic instantly.

"Could you be Isabelle's brother? Mr Zavi?" she asked with a small smile.

Liam nodded with a smile, not knowing what to say.

The woman insisted that Liam come inside her house. Feeling uncomfortable, Liam immediately refused, choosing to wait outside for his sister to come out.

He waited, sitting on the small steps while watching the people passing by in front of him. After about five minutes, Isabelle came out of the house, standing in the doorway with two fairly large boxes under her.

Just by looking at them, Liam concluded that he would have to carry the two boxes all the way home, a distance of about a hundred metres.

On the other hand, he would still try his best to make his sister happy. Meanwhile, Isabelle said goodbye to her friend and her parents.

"I'm going home now, see you later..." Isabelle whispered, feeling happy about her friend's gift.

"Okay, be careful on the road," she replied, glancing and smiling at Liam, who was struggling to carry the two boxes.

Isabelle walked down the stairs, patting her brother on the shoulder to hurry up. Liam smiled cynically after witnessing this cruel act.

The black coat he had been wearing was now folded and tucked between the two boxes he was carrying.

At 10:45... They had both arrived home, although Liam's waist felt like it was about to break. The two boxes, whose contents he did not know, were placed next to the living room table.

His gaze turned to the right, eager to rush into the bedroom and lie down on his bed.

He walked unsteadily, but when his hand reached for the door handle, Isabelle told him to stop.

Liam's hand froze on the door handle, along with the rest of his body. A gust of wind blew in through the ventilation, hitting his body and creating a dramatic effect.

"Take this!" said Isabelle, pulling several banknotes out of her purse.

Liam's eyes widened. He saw two or five banknotes in front of him. He smiled and, without hesitation, accepted the money as a reward for his hard work in lifting the two cities.

Click... the door opened, and he immediately entered his room. Isabelle turned around and shook her head. But two steps later, a faint voice pierced her from behind.

"Thank you for giving your sister this money," said Liam, although Isabelle could only hear his voice faintly.

"Yes," she replied briefly with a smile.

Meanwhile, in the bedroom. Liam lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

Liam took his watch out of his trouser pocket, heard its faint ticking, and watched the hands move.

"It's almost 11:00, isn't it?" he said softly, and Liam spread his arms wide.

It was exactly 2:00. Liam wanted to move to the location that Leo had previously told him about.

"There's still time, I'd better just sleep." After saying that, his eyes were reluctant to open again.

A gentle breeze came in through the bedroom window, making his whole body feel very comfortable. A minute later, he fell fast asleep.

At 1:45 p.m., Liam suddenly woke up, due to the influence of the nightmares he often experienced when he fell asleep. He could see it clearly, witnessing the torment that still lingered even after he woke up.

"Damn! That dream again." Liam wiped his forehead, which was covered in sweat.

He sighed afterwards, stretched his body, and then left the room, heading straight to the bathroom to wash his face.

The dream he had experienced earlier was beyond human comprehension. Yesterday morning. Zavi was home alone, his brother's whereabouts were unknown as usual, and his mother had gone to the market to sell vegetables and other daily necessities.

Meanwhile, his younger sibling had gone to school with a friend who had come to his house that day.

After his sibling left, and his mother had left early in the morning.

At exactly half past seven, Zavi was in his room and was about to go to the kitchen to eat. He ate a sandwich with a gloomy, pale face, like someone who wanted to end his life.

After enduring the pain of swallowing the sandwich, Zavi could no longer bear it and immediately stabbed his chest with a kitchen knife dozens of times.

The stabbing caused his body to bleed out, and at the peak of it, Zavi stabbed his heart. At that moment, he died instantly, his body lying on the floor surrounded by a pool of fresh blood…

Liam stood in front of the mirror, turned on the tap, cupped his hands, and splashed water over his entire head.

The cold water calmed his mind. Liam narrowed his eyes and stared intently at his reflection.

"Suicide? Madness? Or supernatural forces?" he asked himself, confused.

"But, from what I've observed. It seems like he suddenly went mad. I don't know what happened, but he couldn't control his thoughts completely and decided to end his life."

Liam punched the wall just a few inches from the mirror, his hand immediately turning red, but he didn't care.

Afterwards, he left the bathroom and went to his room to get the money his sister had given him.

"Hey, Isabelle. I'm going out, are you okay at home alone?" asked Liam, who was now standing in the living room, looking up at the stairs.

"It's fine." Isabelle shouted from her room.

Liam could leave the house without worrying about Isabelle's condition anymore. After that, he took the coat hanging on the pole not far from the front door. He went out and headed to the meeting point location that Leo had told him about earlier.
