Chapter 14: Zoro: How long are you guys going to keep talking?
1,2250 Words
"Twenty million…?"
The moment Nami heard the bounty amount, her eyes widened involuntarily.
These two people who don't look like pirates at all have a combined bounty of 20 million?
Her first reaction was that Ganyu was deceiving her, but the sight of Zoro fighting behind her made her believe it a little.
He was fighting against dozens of pirates all by himself, and he was still standing after all this time, with more than a dozen pirates already lying on the ground.
"This guy… is Roronoa Zoro, the 'Pirate Hunter' with a bounty of ten million!"
"What! He actually tried to steal Buggy's nautical chart? Is he planning to start a war with our Buggy Pirates?!"
After a brief exchange, the Buggy Pirates recognized Zoro's identity.
"He's that pirate hunter… then could this person be…?"
Nami's pupils contracted. She suddenly looked at Ganyu, who was smiling sweetly in front of her.
A memory suddenly flooded her mind.
A few days ago, she had seen two rookie pirates who were gaining fame in the East Blue in the newspaper.
"Pirate Hunter" and "Frost Arrow." Their first bounties were as high as ten million Berries each!
She glanced at the photos on the wanted posters and vaguely remembered that one had green hair and the other had blue hair.
Now, the green-haired one was the swordsman, so the blue-haired one… wasn't that the girl in front of her?
"That's right. The idiot you tricked is 'Pirate Hunter' Roronoa Zoro. I'm known as 'Frost Arrow' Ganyu. And this is our captain, Monkey D. Luffy."
Ganyu smiled and formally introduced herself and her two companions.
"It's really them…"
As soon as Ganyu finished speaking, the last glimmer of hope in Nami's heart vanished.
However, she reacted very quickly, and soon managed to force out an awkward smile.
"I never expected to run into such important figures as you. I was just meddling in other people's business. I'm sure you don't even consider these pirates a threat…"
As she spoke, she quietly moved her feet backward.
Now that things had come to this, Nami realized how foolish she had been.
Intending to "shift the blame," she had inadvertently led someone else's companions away as well.
Now that these two had realized what was happening, it would be troublesome if she didn't leave soon.
"Wait."
Just as Nami was about to slip away, a small, delicate hand firmly grabbed her wrist.
The strength in that small hand was as firm as an iron clamp, making it impossible for her to break free.
"It's not very polite to just leave without even leaving your name."
Ganyu held Nami's wrist firmly, secretly marveling at how tender and soft it was, while staring at her with a half-smile.
This "little thief cat" naturally wouldn't have the chance to escape in front of her.
"I…"
Nami tried to struggle several times to no avail. She could only put on a pitiful look and whisper:
"I'm just an insignificant nobody, you… you don't need to know my name…"
"It's necessary, because our captain is very interested in you," Ganyu said seriously.
"Me?" Luffy pointed at himself, looking completely bewildered.
So far, he had absolutely no interest in this orange-haired girl.
However, since Ganyu said it, there must be a reason.
Ganyu was his only crew member at this stage, and she held a position in his heart comparable to that of barbecue.
"That's right, I'm very interested in you. Tell us your name!"
Luffy pointed at Nami and said.
"My name is Nami. I'm just an ordinary navigator. I offended the Buggy Pirates on this island and accidentally dragged you into this mess."
Seeing that she couldn't escape, Nami had no choice but to reveal part of her identity.
"Navigator?" Luffy's eyes lit up.
It seemed they were missing a navigator on their ship.
But…
Luffy turned to look at Ganyu.
He remembered that Ganyu had been learning to sail. Although Zoro always said that she would never learn it in her lifetime, he believed that Ganyu would definitely become a great navigator in the future.
"Idiot, there's more than one navigator!"
Understanding his gaze, Ganyu gave him a light tap on the back of the head, annoyed.
She had a deep understanding of her own sailing skills. Although they weren't as exaggerated as Zoro claimed, they were indeed far inferior to Nami's.
Without Nami, she wouldn't even have the confidence to sail the ship out of the East Blue.
"That makes sense!"
Luffy scratched his head, then carefully examined Nami.
He couldn't find anything that attracted him.
Finally, his gaze froze slightly, settling on Nami's hair.
Orange hair!
Luffy's brain started working at lightning speed.
"Ganyu's hair is blue, Zoro's hair is green, and her hair is orange…"
Therefore… everyone's hair corresponds to a certain color…
"Ohhhhhh!!!"
Now I'm absolutely certain! She's the partner I've been looking for!
"Nami, join us!"
Luffy suddenly spoke excitedly, his loud voice startling Ganyu.
"Ah?"
Nami was completely dumbfounded. She was expecting to be questioned, but instead she received a job offer.
After realizing what was happening, she instinctively tried to refuse, but then she felt the small hand holding her tighten its grip.
Ouch… it hurts…
Is this little blue-haired girl a monster?! How can she be so strong?!
Nami glanced at Ganyu with a mixture of surprise and fear.
The other girl was half a head shorter than her, with a delicate, doll-like face and a pair of small black and red horns on her head (Nami assumed these were decorations). She looked like a noble lady who couldn't even harm a fly.
But that's only what she seemed to be. Neither her strength nor her demeanor suggested she was someone to be trifled with.
"I agree. I'll temporarily act as your navigator!"
To avoid having her wrist crushed, Nami followed her heart and agreed to Luffy's request.
"Alright!"
Luffy, of course, was unaware of the "friendly exchange" between the two female crew members. He only knew that he now had another crew member, bringing him one step closer to forming his pirate crew.
At this moment.
A hurried and resentful voice came from the battlefield.
"You bunch of bastards! How long are you going to make me fight all by myself?!"
Everyone turned in unison. Sure enough, they saw a green-haired swordsman carrying three swords, covered in sweat and panting heavily.
He was fighting a pirate riding a unicycle. This person's strength was extraordinary, and he had managed to suppress Zoro for a short period.
Zoro had no problem in a one-on-one fight. What annoyed him were the pirate henchmen around who kept harassing him.
If he hadn't been fighting alone, his situation would never have turned out this way.
Oh no, I forgot about him.
Ganyu and Luffy exchanged a glance, both seeing barely suppressed laughter in each other's eyes.
A few seconds later.
"Ganyu, I'm going to find Buggy!" Luffy flexed his wrists, crouched slightly, and assumed a ready-to-go stance.
"Yes. I look forward to you defeating him before Zoro does." Ganyu leaned closer and reached out to straighten his straw hat, which had tilted slightly while he was running.
