Chapter 123 - For Emergencies

The great golden wheel stopped with a click and ten gleaming cards now floated in front of his eyes with a golden radiance.

Taking a deep breath, he touched the first one.

[Item: Exodus Scroll (Consumable)]

[Description: When torn, it initiates a three-second dimensional anchor. Upon completion, it ignores any spatial barrier, seal, or blockade and forcefully transports the user to the designated "Safe Haven" (Devil May Cry).

Warning: The movement interrupts the process.]

"Shit, yes!"

The shout escaped him involuntarily.

Ignore spatial blockades! Forced exit!

It was another life insurance policy. Even if Dorothy decided to betray him, if the Underworld tried to swallow him up, or if he got into the mouth of a dark god, he only needed to buy three seconds of time... although if he thought about it now, three seconds can go by fast depending on who he faces.

But well, now he had an emergency exit door.

A perfect start, and if the rest maintained this level, those ten million would have been a bargain.

He clicked on the second card.

[Passive Skill: Dante Style]

[Description: Absolute control over your personal aesthetics. Your hairstyle and clothing are immune to physics, wind, or combat. You can reconfigure your style with a simple gesture.]

"..."

Did he just spend a fortune on... magic hair gel?

Incredulity led him to raise his hand and run it through the rebellious hair that fell over his forehead.

There was no need for mirrors or gels; at the simple touch of his will, his hair obeyed, combing back into a perfect and ridiculously stylized configuration.

He looked in the mirror and the image looking back at him had an air of a charismatic villain, that kind of look that screams arrogance.

"It's totally useless in a fight..." he murmured, turning his head to see how the hairstyle didn't move an inch, "but I admit it looks cool."

It was an absurd vanity, but it had its charm.

Shaking his head, he went for the third card.

He barely grazed the digital surface when a blinding light burst into the room, completely eclipsing the previous two.

[Item: Fallen Angel Wings]

[Description: Wings of a certain famous fallen angel.]

Before him floated the image of a pair of gigantic, majestic wings, woven with feathers that looked like they were made of solid light and blinding whiteness.

He frowned, confused by what his eyes saw.

"White?"

Wings of a fallen angel... and they were immaculate white?

He always imagined they would be black, burned, or membranous.

Without further delay, he touched the fourth card.

[Item: Horn of the Doomsday (Single Use)]

[Description: A single blow rips the veil of reality. It summons the projection of one of the Four Horsemen to unleash devastation in your name until the conflict ceases.]

"Damn..."

His mouth went dry.

This was not just any invocation; this was heavy biblical artillery.

Having the possibility of calling War or Death itself, even if it was a projection... It was a controlled catastrophe!

With this in his pocket, he could not only defend himself in the Underworld; he could start a war.

The fifth card turned over.

[Item: Master Sword]

[Description: Sacred relic imbued with the power of deities, with a blade that repels darkness and seals evil.

Note: Its true potential demands an Elf lineage, but its edge remains absolute.]

A double-edged longsword with a blue hilt and an embedded gem materialized in the backpack.

With a thought, it became real.

The weight was perfect.

As he closed his fingers over the hilt, he didn't feel the cold of the metal, but a vibrant warmth that traveled up his arm and resonated directly through his entire body.

As if the sword recognized him...

"This is another league," he murmured, feeling the adrenaline pumping hard.

Five hits in a row.

The risk of the ten million was worth every damn coin.

He went for the sixth card.

But this time there was no object, only light.

A torrent of violent energy erupted from the card and hit him in the chest before he could blink.

[Upgrade: Magic Grade 4]

[Description: Exhaustively strengthens your physical qualities and gain a massive bonus to all skills and energy-type weapons you use.]

"Ahhh...!"

The air escaped from his lungs, but it wasn't pain, it was intensity.

He felt as if he had been connected to a power plant.

His senses sharpened all at once; the world seemed to move slower, colors were more vivid, and he could feel the static in the air of the room.

His muscles tensed and relaxed, vibrating with new power.

He felt faster, more lethal, more... capable.

The seventh card turned over, revealing a small glass vial containing a tiny amount of a crimson and glowing liquid.

[Item: Tear of the Dragon Heir (Single Use)]

[Description: A bottled miracle. Upon physical death, allows for immediate resurrection on the spot, restoring vitality to the max.]

"Another chance..."

He sighed, and the air left his lungs taking with it much of the accumulated tension.

It wasn't just an item, it was another life and now, technically, he had three lives to his credit.

The anxiety caused by the idea of going down to the Underworld dissipated almost completely. With this in his pocket, he could walk straight there with the certainty that death would have to wait its turn.

The sensation of security was intoxicating and, almost numb from the streak of good luck, he touched the eighth card.

[Passive Skill: Arsenal Mastery - Omega Protocol]

[Description: The ultimate muscle memory.

Grants instant and absolute mastery over any existing cold weapon, firearm, or vehicle. If it can be used to kill or drive, you are the best of all at it.]

The instant the skill settled in, his brain went click.

But it wasn't anything surprising, just an illuminating clarity...

He looked at his own hands and then the objects in the room: a pen, a chair, the phone.

He no longer saw everyday objects, he saw angles of attack, pressure points, and trajectories. He already knew with certainty that he could disassemble his motorcycle blindly in less than five minutes or turn anything he touched into a lethal extension of his body.

"... I like it."

The last two remained.

His gaze fell on the ninth card.

[Item: Two-Star Dragon Ball]

A sphere of perfect amber color, with two red stars floating inside it, appeared on the screen.

"Five to go..."

He knew it was a long-term goal, something that would require patience, but having the second piece of the puzzle gave him a strange satisfaction.

He put it away and looked at the last card, whose shine was more subtle, shy in comparison with the previous ones.

[Item: Shikon Jewel Fragment]

[Description: A fragment that contains great power. It can be fused with weaponry to boost its attributes or absorbed to strengthen one of your skills.]

A small crystal, like an elongated diamond, pulsing with a faint pink light, materialized in his hand.

He could feel the energy vibrating, begging to be used.

He weighed it for a few seconds.

"I won't absorb it," he decided, closing his fist over the fragment, "This will go better embedded in the gear. Maybe give a little more power to 'Ebony and Ivory'..."

The ten-attempt draw ended, and the great golden wheel vanished.

Looking at his completely renewed panel, he sighed again.
