Chapter 86 - The Grimdark Group Chat

Lyon, formerly Li Ang before his transmigration, crossed over to the Warhammer Universe a hundred years ago.

In that century, he had transformed from an ordinary Blue Star human into a Gilded Nail Astartes.

He was now a veteran of countless battles, wielding a Boltgun and Power Sword to cut through xenomorphs time and time again.

He had transmigrated into the Warhammer setting of the 41st Millennium, an era that resembled a hell built upon a mountain of corpses and gunpowder smoke.

The Warhammer Universe is a cesspit, and the 41st Millennium is the cesspit of cesspits.

This was the darkest, most desperate era in human history.

"Welcome to hell, recruit." Lyon still remembered the first words his drill sergeant spoke to him after his Gene-Seed reinforcement surgery: "From today forward, your life will burn for the Emperor and for Mankind."

War was endless, the smoke never cleared. Mankind was on the brink of extinction. The Imperium of Man across the galaxy was besieged on all sides—threatened externally by hostile forces and internally by traitors and heretics.

The light of reason was extinguished, replaced by superstition, lies, and blind prayer.

In this moment, there was no peace, no respite, and no forgiveness.

And the Astartes were Mankind's last fortress.

"For the Emperor! For Mankind!" Lyon had shouted this slogan countless times, transitioning from initial discomfort to speaking it from the heart.

He had personally witnessed too many comrades fall to the claws of xenomorphs, and he had personally sent off brothers who had been corrupted by Chaos, only to continue fighting with grief.

Lyon was very unlucky to transmigrate into the Warhammer World, but he was also very lucky that he was born in the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar, the "Second Imperium."

This was the homeworld of the Empire's Thirteenth Primarch, Roboute Guilliman, the Gene-Seed Primarch of the Ultramarines, Lord of the Second Imperium, and Regent of the Imperium of Man.

Although the Horus Heresy nearly ten millennia ago had inflicted unimaginable devastation upon the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar, the region showed incredible resilience and vitality, recovering after the war.

While it has yet to recover its former prosperity, compared to other parts of the Imperium, it is already considered Paradise.

Whenever Lyon returned home after completing a dangerous mission, he would first go to the monument in the city center to mourn, praying for the comrades who would never return, before heading back to the Legion's garrison.

"We protect not just this land, but the last hope of Mankind."

Fortunately, perhaps due to his transmigration, he was naturally intelligent and his physical development was far superior to that of ordinary people. This gave him a glimmer of hope in the brutal Warhammer World.

From a young age, he displayed astonishing physical quality and fighting talent, earning him the well-deserved qualification to participate in the Ultramarines Legion Trials.

That trial nearly cost him his life, but it also fundamentally changed his destiny.

Just as he passed the trial and successfully qualified to become an Ultramarine, the sound of the Group Chat notification suddenly rang in his mind, and he was pulled into the Group Chat.

At that moment, he was lying on the operating table, preparing to undergo Gene-Seed reinforcement surgery. The sudden sound almost made him think he was being corrupted by Chaos.

At the same time, he also activated a Talent. Lyon guessed that this Talent was likely not Psionics, as it allowed him to lower his sense of presence.

This was the key to his long survival in the Warhammer World. Without this ability, he wouldn't even dare to travel through the Immaterium.

At that time, there were two other members in the Group Chat: one who had transmigrated to the Naruto World and one who had transmigrated to the Cyberpunk World.

The three often exchanged information and techniques regarding their respective worlds in the chat.

Limited by the fact that the Group Chat did not yet have a Red Packet sending function, the few of them could only share techniques.

The transmigrator in the Naruto World had crossed into the Warring States Period and became a ninja of the Yamanaka Clan.

The transmigrator in the Cyberpunk World was now working as a second-hand Cyberware dealer.

Both were striving to survive in their respective worlds and helping each other as much as possible.

Lyon's Memory Seal Device was created using a Secret Art provided by the Yamanaka Clan transmigrator and technology provided by the Cyberpunk World.

This device helped him through countless voyages in the Immaterium, protecting his mind from being corrupted by the forces of Chaos.

However, before long, the transmigrator from the Cyberpunk World died in a gang ambush while selling new equipment.

The transmigrator from the Naruto World was also assassinated by other Ninja Clans due to his outstanding performance.

During his hundred years in the Warhammer Universe, Lyon witnessed the deaths of too many transmigrators.

The Group Chat was once lively, but eventually fell silent.

The chat member who transmigrated to the Foundation World sent a final message before his death: "SCP-173 has breached containment. I hear it moving. I can't blink..." The message abruptly cut off.

Even more tragic was the little boy who transmigrated to the world of "All Tomorrows."

Lyon still remembers his last video feed—he had been transformed into a Worm, stripped of his ability to think, and only survived by instinct.

However, he passed away a few years later.

The technological level of the Warhammer World is strangely uneven.

The Imperium has a star-faring fleet, yet basic healthcare cannot be universally provided. Lyon had tried to use his knowledge to help the chat members suffering from natural aging or disease, but without the ability to send Red Packets, he could only watch them leave.

Before Lyon sealed his memory this time, there was one more transmigrator in the chat from the Sea Tiger Martial God World. That individual had barely survived countless close calls and finally acquired the Ultimate Limitless Chi Art, which they shared with him.

Lyon had planned to try cultivating it after leaving the Immaterium, but he wondered if the person would still be around by then.

After his memory was completely unlocked, Lyon routinely checked the Group Chat, but he was shocked by the sight before him. There were so many active transmigrators now!

Ian from the Minecraft World, Zeke from the Terraria World, Molly from the Frozen Apocalypse World, Felix from the Scorching World, Leo from the Slasher World, Shawn from the Solo Leveling World, Tachibana Masamune from the Dragon Raja World, Kevin from the Super Seminary World, and Chloe from the Zombie World.

He quickly scrolled through the chat messages and found that these people were not only alive and well, but could also send Red Packets to each other!

However, he could not find the ID of the Sea Tiger Martial God World transmigrator among the new members. "It seems he couldn't hold on," Lyon sighed, mourning another fallen comrade.

But the appearance of new chat members and new features gave him hope. Perhaps this time, he wouldn't have to face this brutal universe alone.

"For the Emperor, for Mankind, and for all transmigrators, and for myself!" Lyon removed the Memory Seal Device and strode toward the Operations Briefing Room, while already formulating a plan in his mind on how to introduce his situation to the new chat members.

The respectfully standing Servitor accepted the device, then held a candle with its mechanical hand, knelt down, and prayed to appease the device's Machine Spirit.
