Chapter 6 - It’s not that easy to handle me

Without saying a single word, he opened the passenger door for her.For a moment, Avira hesitated.

But there was no other option.

Her eyes were still trembling, yet the fear she felt moments ago… was fading.

Because Adhvir was there.

She quietly sat inside.

The rain kept falling. But Avira felt a strange calm now a warmth she couldn't explain.

Her eyelashes were wet, but her heart had stopped racing.

Adhvir sat behind the wheel, glanced at her once, and asked softly,

"You okay?"

She looked at him ! his gaze fixed straight ahead, his face unreadable.

"Yes," she whispered.

He nodded slightly and started the engine.

The air inside the car was silent… but not empty. It was heavy, charged like two people were silently feeling each other's presence.

Ten minutes passed. Then Adhvir finally spoke."Your address?"

Avira, still looking out the rain-streaked window, said quietly,"Bandra West. I'll manage from there."

Adhvir only responded with a faint "Hmm," and turned the car that way.

A few more minutes passed.

Avira's eyes slowly drifted to his hands steady on the steering wheel.Veins slightly visible, sleeves rolled up just perfectly, revealing a dark brown leather watch.

It wasn't flashy just sophisticated. And somehow, his hands… looked impossibly attractive.

She tried to look away, but couldn't.

Then, realizing it, she quickly turned to the window again.Even in the cold, she felt warm.

Her heart was racing faster than before.

The silence, the hum of the engine, the faint sound of rain everything around her felt alive.

Finally, breaking the quiet, she smiled softly and said,"Thank you… for saving me from those guys."

Then, glancing playfully at him, she added teasingly,

"But that punch of yours — wow! I loved it. Tell me, were you a mafia before? Or maybe some street don?"

Adhvir turned his head slowly, his gaze meeting hers No smile, no surprise. Just a cold, knowing look.

"I know," he said quietly, his voice deep and chilling,

"…how much you know, and what you know."

Avira's breath caught.

Her eyes widened color draining from her face.It was as if he had read her thoughts.

She kept staring at him, trying to understand the man sitting beside her.

Before she could say anything, he took a slow breath and looked straight ahead again.

"But don't worry," he murmured, "you don't need to be afraid of me."

Avira's expression hardened.

"I'm not afraid of you," she said firmly.

"If I were, I'd never have stepped into your car."

"And I know something else too," she continued, her tone sharper now.

"Even if I tell someone what you did, no one would believe me. But that doesn't mean I'll forget it, Adhvir."

"You tried to kill my friend's father and that's not something I can ignore. So maybe you should… stay away from me."

Her words weren't loud but they hit like thunder.Adhvir's fingers tightened slightly on the steering wheel.

Then, without warning, he hit the brakes.

The car stopped.

Avira gasped softly, startled. He turned his head toward her, leaned in just a little, his voice low and dangerously calm.

"If you keep talking like that…"He paused.

His eyes locked with hers.

"…I might just kiss you. So stop talking. And go home."

Avira blinked she couldn't tell if it was a threat, a tease… or something else entirely.

She quickly opened the door, stepped out, and whispered under her breath,

"What…?"

Her brows furrowed in confusion; her lips parted slightly still processing what had just happened.

Then his voice came again, calm but commanding,

"Don't be seen around guys like that again."

Avira turned sharply, glaring. "And if I am?"

Adhvir smirked that dark, dangerous smile that made her heart skip.

"Then I'll take away your freedom… my clumsy girl."

And with that, he started the car — the engine roared, and he drove away into the night.

Avira stood there, drenched in rain breathless, shaken, and utterly confused.

After Adhvir left, Avira stood by the door for a few seconds. She smiled faintly and whispered,

"It's not that easy to handle me, Mr. Roy…"

Her hair was wet from the wind and rain, but without caring, she walked up the apartment stairs. As soon as she rang the doorbell, the door opened.

It was Mrs. Anjali. Avira smiled seeing her,

but her smile faded the next moment when two men walked out holding electric tools, their clothes slightly wet. They seemed to have been fixing something.

Avira looked a bit surprised, then asked,

"Who were those men, Mom?"

Anjali replied gently,

"The lights kept flickering because of the rain,

so I called them to check the fuse and wiring."

Avira nodded, saying "Oh…",

trying to end the conversation right there.

But the very next second, something suddenly came to her mind ,her eyes sparkled with excitement.

She almost jumped like a happy child and said proudly,

"By the way, Mom! I passed with really good marks!"

Without pausing, she continued with a big smile,

"Now guess… how much did I score?"

Anjali smiled, pretending to think, and said teasingly,

"Maybe… 90%?"

Her tone carried that playful warmth only a mother could have —like she already knew her daughter had scored even higher

but wanted to keep their little game alive.

Avira instantly puffed her cheeks in fake annoyance.

"Do I look that average to you, Mom?"

Then widening her eyes dramatically, she said,

"I passed with 98%! And guess what—tomorrow I'm going to take admission

in the same college that's been my dream! My dream university!"

Anjali's eyes softened.

Seeing that glow on her daughter's face filled her with peace.

She didn't hug Avira, but her gentle smile and her warm, emotional eyes

silently said, "Wherever you go, may you always shine like this."

Her voice was full of affection when she said,

"Alright then, go freshen up and sleep. Tomorrow's a big day.

You need rest. I hope you get that admission."

Avira nodded,"Okay, Mom…"

And in that short reply, there was happiness, tiredness, and calm all at once.

She walked toward her room.

As soon as she entered, she went straight to the wardrobe, pulled out her soft black cotton night suit, and stood for a moment in front of the mirror.

Looking at her reflection, she smiled to herself and murmured,"Finally, Mr. Adhvir Roy… looks like we'll keep meeting again."

She winked playfully at her reflection and walked toward the bathroom.

Meanwhile…

Adhvir had reached his farmhouse.

For some reason, he was in a good mood tonight.

Maybe it was the time he spent with Avira,

or just watching her,

or perhaps feeling something after so many years whatever it was, there was a strange happiness curving his lips.

He parked the car, whistled softly, and walked inside.Just then, his phone rang.

He glanced at the screen and answered.

"Sir, the work you assigned it's done."

Adhvir simply replied with a cold "Hmm." and walked to his private cabin.

Sitting down in his leather chair,

he picked up his office phone and said in a calm, commanding tone,"Mr. Rastogi, come to my cabin."

Within minutes, there was a knock.

Mr. Rastogi entered eyes lowered, posture humble,

the perfect example of quiet obedience.

Adhvir gave a faint smile and said,

"So, Mr. Rastogi… today's party was quite full of surprises, wasn't it?Would you like some wine?"

Rastogi politely replied,

"Sorry, sir… no."

Adhvir shook his head slightly.

"No problem. Anyway, I'll be at the Roy Mansion by tomorrow night.

Make sure the message reaches home.

And yes… tomorrow, I'll personally visit the universityto interview the new students.

But this should stay secret. No one from the staff should know I'm coming."

Mr. Rastogi nodded.

"As you say, sir. And forgive me,

the files weren't placed on your desk yet but they're all ready.

I'll keep them right away."

Adhvir replied calmly,

"After that, you can take some rest.

Maybe take a few days off if you want."

Rastogi almost immediately answered,

"No, sir… I don't need any leave."

And with that, he quietly walked out.

Adhvir remained seated. He opened his laptop. What appeared on the screen wasn't a movie…

it was Avira's house.

Every corner, every roomeach moment was visible to him.

He had hidden cameras in the walls,

tiny bugging devices in every corner even in her kitchen, her bedroom,

and her most personal space.

His eyes were fixed on the screen there was obsession in them… maybe madness,

or perhaps something darkerbecause for him, this wasn't just about watching Avira.

It was about owning her.

His fingers tapped slowly on the table.

On the screen, Avira appearednow dressed in her nightwear.Adhvir straightened up immediately, watching her every move.

She walked to the balcony.

Looking up at the sky, she murmured to herself,

"I have to tell Jasmin that her dad might be in real danger…

Even if she doesn't believe me, I'll still tell her tomorrow.

And as for that Roy… he's already fallen into my trap."

After saying that to herself,

she sat on her bed and drifted off to sleep.

Adhvir had heard every word.

Every single line.A slow, devilish smile curved his lips .as he watched her sleep peacefully.

It was 3 a.m.,

yet his eyes stayed fixed on the screen

on Avira, who was sleeping like nothing could ever touch her peace. He zoomed in closer, looked at her face…

and whispered softly, with a faint smirk,

"Good morning, my clumsy girl."

Then he got up and walked to take a shower.
