Chapter 35: It Tastes Quite Good

Its size and pattern were identical to a [System Copper Coin].

The blonde woman didn't interrupt him but naturally went to brew two cups of tea.

Ryusei glanced at her back, then subtly at the surveillance camera in the corner. Afterward, he pretended to hold the commemorative coin in his palm and put it into his [Inventory].

The commemorative coin did not enter the [System Wallet], but lay alone in one of the [Inventory] slots.

It seemed it wouldn't work. The System simply didn't recognize this kind of counterfeit coin.

Ryusei took the commemorative coin out of his [Inventory] again. Opening his palm, the commemorative coin lay quietly in his hand. However, this item wasn't entirely useless; at least it could be used as a magic prop for performances.

The blonde woman placed one cup of tea in front of him and another in front of herself. Seeing him put the commemorative coin back into the box and pick up his cup to drink, she softly asked, "Is the customer satisfied with our work?"

This shop's service attitude was excellent, and they didn't mind his age.

Ryusei put down his cup, nodded, and said, "The craftsmanship is very good, but there's still some discrepancy with the effect I actually wanted... I need to reconsider the original custom order plan. I will give you a reply within three days."

"Discrepancy?"

The blonde woman frowned slightly. Her primary concern wasn't whether she could secure this large order, but rather the discrepancy in the work that Ryusei mentioned.

"May I ask, customer, what exactly isn't good enough about this commemorative coin?"

"It's good, it's just not what I wanted."

The woman was silent for a moment, then said, "I understand. I will await your reply, customer."

Ryusei nodded and asked, "How much is the production fee for this sample commemorative coin? I'll pay it now."

The blonde woman didn't refuse, explaining, "Because the raw material used is copper, this part isn't expensive. The main cost is the independent mold making, but the design draft you provided, customer, isn't complex and doesn't have too many details... Considering our craftsmanship isn't refined enough and we couldn't produce a work that fully satisfied you, I will only charge half of the mold cost. You just need to pay 20,000 yen."

Is this how she does business?

Ryusei had searched online before; the cost of independent mold making varied from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of yen, depending on complexity and difficulty. The blonde woman only charging 20,000 yen indeed showed great sincerity. No wonder this shop received rave reviews. He would definitely give it a good rating later.

Ryusei paid the money and extended his hand toward the woman.

She was slightly startled, then smiled and shook his hand.

[Ding—]

The sound of a [Copper Coin +10] rang in Ryusei's heart.

This blonde woman was actually a [Heroine].

Ryusei politely let go of her hand and, as if curious, said, "I think you must be Miss Mira, right?"

The woman smiled and nodded, "Yes, you guessed correctly."

Watching Ryusei leave, Miss Mira shook her head and murmured to herself, "He's not satisfied... I hope he doesn't leave a bad review."

On his way back, Ryusei didn't take a taxi again. He had done a lot of shopping today, and his savings were almost used up, so he needed to be more frugal.

Fortunately, he had already made progress with Eriri. Whether teaching her or doing the massage for her, Ryusei would be able to earn income afterward.

Arriving at the apartment building, he saw that Sayuri's door on the first floor was closed. Perhaps she had gone out for something.

On the stairs to the second floor, Ryusei met Yukino Mifuyu from next door.

"Good afternoon, Yukino-san."

"Hmm, good afternoon."

The two passed each other without further interaction.

Ryusei shook his head inwardly. This neighbor was the most difficult [Heroine] he had encountered so far to approach.

Yukino Mifuyu arrived on the first floor. She looked at Sayuri's closed door.

Ordinary people might not sense it, but she could perceive a very strong, suppressed aura of desire emanating from inside the room.

Had it erupted again? It wasn't the first time Mifuyu had seen Sayuri in this state. Part of the reason she lived in this apartment was to monitor Sayuri.

Sadako from the videotape made a sound that only Mifuyu could hear: "Although it's stronger than last time, she should be able to withstand it. And with Hachishaku there, she will help monitor."

Mifuyu retracted her gaze and said indifferently, "Mm."

Ultimately, it was also because Sayuri was not a major threat. At most, she would just make the high schooler next door unable to get out of bed and go to school the next day.

As a Section Chief, she had more urgent matters to attend to. Specifically, to quickly capture and eliminate the monsters that had invaded the present world through the rifts caused by the "Spatial Quake."

Arriving on the third floor, Ryusei saw a large box placed outside his door. It was various computer components delivered by the computer store.

Ryusei opened the door and carried the large box inside. Then came the enjoyable unboxing process.

Graphics card, processor, memory sticks, solid-state drive, monitor... Ryusei took out his phone and opened a PC assembly video. Following the instructions in the video, he assembled it step by step. Before long, all the components were installed into the case.

Next was the moment to witness a miracle.

Ryusei plugged in the power cord and pressed the power button on the case. The fans inside the case started to spin. The screen lit up successfully.

"Very good."

Then it was time to install the operating system. The computer store provided a USB drive, which could be plugged in for direct installation.

"There's a fiber optic port in the room. I'll get an internet account tomorrow, and then it'll be complete."

Ryusei turned off the computer and went to the kitchen to cook. The vegetables he bought in the morning were all stored in his [Inventory], remaining very fresh. He simply made two dishes and one soup.

Ryusei was about to eat when he suddenly heard a knock on the door outside.

Who? Could it be Hachishaku-san again?

Ryusei got up and walked over. "Who is it, please?"

"It's me, Ryusei-kun."

Such a gentle voice; it was indeed the incredibly tall Onee-san from next door.

Ryusei opened the door. He saw Hachishaku-san standing outside, bending forward, holding a plate of fried fish.

"I saw that the box outside Ryusei-kun's door was gone, so I guessed Ryusei-kun must be back. I just made some fried fish and brought it for you to try."

Ryusei remembered what Hachishaku-san had said in the morning, that she would make fried fish at noon and wanted him to try it. But unfortunately, Ryusei had to go to Akihabara at noon, so he could only politely decline her kind offer.

He didn't expect her to wait until evening.

Ryusei was a little touched and said, "Hachishaku-san is too kind."

Hachishaku smiled gently, "It's nothing, I'll need Ryusei-kun's care in the future."

Ryusei also smiled and said, "Okay, thank you."

He accepted the plate of fried fish.

Hachishaku smelled the fragrant aroma coming from his room and asked, "Ryusei-kun hasn't eaten yet?"

Ryusei nodded and said, "That's right, I just finished cooking and was about to eat."

Hachishaku straightened up and said softly, "Then I won't disturb Ryusei-kun's meal."

Hachishaku waved her hand and went back next door.

Ryusei also carried the plate of fried fish back to his home. He looked at the steaming, fragrant fried fish in his hand and licked his lips. But he still resisted his appetite.

Ryusei went to the kitchen to get a new plate, poured the fried fish onto it, and put it into his [Inventory]. Then, he returned to the dining table and began to eat the meal he had cooked.

After eating, Ryusei washed the dishes in the kitchen. Picking up the now clean plate, he went out and to the next door. He knocked on the door.

Hachishaku-san quickly opened the door.

"Hachishaku-san, I'm here to return the plate."

"It's alright."

Hachishaku-san took the plate, her bright eyes looking at Ryusei with a hint of anticipation.

Ryusei understood and said, "The fried fish was delicious."

Hachishaku-san's lips curved slightly, revealing a joyful smile: "That's good."

"Hachishaku-san, what vegetables do you want to buy tomorrow? Remember to send me a LINE message."

"Okay, thank you, Ryusei-kun."

"You're welcome."

After saying goodbye to each other, Ryusei returned home, his expression turning strange.

Is this still a monster?
