Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: No Noodles Tonight, Sleepless for Sure

"Amber, I think we should help with the promotion too, as an apology for our previous rudeness."

Seeing Lucas tirelessly shouting and promoting amidst the crowd, Jade looked earnestly at her boyfriend.

"Uh... alright, but I think this method is too inefficient. Why don't we help him by making a menu and promotional posters instead?"

Amber was clearly not an extrovert, feeling a natural aversion to such embarrassing acts.

"Oh my God, that's really a great idea!"

"But we need close-up photos, or if he can get a small screen, we could also help record the cooking process and play it in a loop."

Amber pinched her chin, pondering, "If he changes the menu tomorrow, then what we did would be in vain. I feel it's more reasonable to discuss with him and reach a conclusion before implementing it."

"True."

Lina and her boyfriend nodded in agreement, as the magical Great Xia noodles instantly captured their stomachs, igniting a growing curiosity about Great Xia cuisine.

Upon hearing that what was sold yesterday was different from today, the two had already decided to come again tomorrow.

The most important thing is, at home making food is just salad, bread, or pasta, why not come out to eat, it's cheap and delicious, plus you don't have to clean the kitchen.

Since deciding to help with making the menu or promotional video, they had to wait until Lin Chen got off work.

Not knowing when he'll be done selling, they didn't dare go far, just strolling around the nearby square to digest, constantly checking out the promotional posters and videos of nearby restaurants, hoping to draw some inspiration.

Around eleven o'clock.

In less than an hour, Lin Chen's prepared materials were sold out again.

Counting the remaining takeaway boxes, he estimated he had sold around two hundred portions, nearly doubling yesterday's results.

[Ding, task completed, today's total positive feedback points: 213, reward: choose-your-own-recipe*1]

[Achievement completed: Double Delight, complete the task within 1 hour for two consecutive days, reward: Food Truck Upgrade Card*1]

Two card-like objects floated in the air in front of him, seemingly only visible to him, as the customers outside the food truck had no reaction.

As the two cards disappeared, the system issued another task.

[Next time you set up stall, earn 200 positive feedback points before midnight, task completion reward: choose-your-own-recipe*1]

Having received two consecutive extra rewards, he felt he had roughly figured out the trick to accomplishing certain achievements.

It's a game, after all, who hasn't played one, some achievements are chain-like, with signs to follow, as long as he sells out within an hour every day, he can probably continue to trigger similar achievements.

In addition, there must be other types of achievements waiting for him to unlock one by one.

He's not anxious; extra rewards are great if you get them, but you can't force them if not. As long as the basic task rewards are secured, the number of recipes he masters will increase, allowing him to make more types of food, and business will only get better.

"Lin, are you about to get off work?"

Jade, who's been watching from this side, saw him stop serving customers and immediately dragged her boyfriend over.

"We feel really sorry about yesterday, it weighs on our conscience. Coincidentally, Amber is good at making posters and promotional videos, so we plan to create some usable recipes and videos for you to express our apologies."

"Hm?"

Lin Chen looked at her with slight surprise.

Don't be fooled by the foreigners' mostly friendly demeanor; it's all surface-level, with a stronger sense of detachment than any Asian country.

The longer you live here, the deeper you feel it, especially with colleagues in the workplace, no matter how well you get along, it's like they go off the grid after work, as if they don't exist.

Meeting someone like Jade was really a first for him.

"I guess that's doable."

Thinking it over, he indeed needed these things.

Though it's said good wine needs no bush, in the information explosion era, even in foreign countries where self-media is relatively backward, it still needs to be feared.

He's a part-timer setting up a stall; the kitchen work is exhausting enough, so he hopes the part-time work doesn't drag on too long, thus the promotion must be on point.

The problem is that he doesn't know what food he'll make tomorrow, whether to repeat selling or make new dishes, that still requires careful consideration.

Therefore, making a fixed menu is obviously unsuitable, shooting a video is more convenient.

Luckily, he just got a Food Truck Upgrade Card, he glanced at it earlier, he can choose to add a new piece of equipment to the food truck or upgrade existing equipment.

In that case, of course, he should choose a TV!

"Alright then, tomorrow I'll get a second-hand TV installed, we'll discuss the specifics tonight."

After chatting briefly with them and arranging to meet here in the evening, he hurriedly drove the food truck home.

Exhausted from the day, he now only wants to take a shower and quickly go to sleep!

Richard slept soundly today.

Usually staying up until two or three in the morning, he fell into a sweet slumber before midnight.

Even while asleep, he smacked his lips and mumbled a few words.

"Lisa... noodles... only eat one bite..."

"Lisa?"

Coming in to check if her son was sleeping quietly, Marian unintentionally overheard this name, and a knowing smile appeared on her lips.

After all, her son is growing up, entering high school the year after next, it's perfectly natural to have a crush on a girl.

She suddenly realized why Richard skipped lunch today; it turns out the Great Xia burger looked bad, and he was afraid of losing face in front of the girl he likes?

Thinking of this, she quietly resolved she must not sleep in tomorrow morning.

"Oh my dear, the noodles you brought home today..."

A pair of strong hands encircled her waist from behind, Marian instantly replied without thinking.

"No, it's too late now, dear, eat them tomorrow morning, please listen."

"What a pity, alright then."

Ever since eating that ugly Great Xia burger in the morning, George realized he seemed addicted to Great Xia cuisine, feeling uneasy even skipping a meal.

Having eaten three meat sandwiches consecutively, he surprisingly didn't feel tired of them yet.

Just thinking about the magical noodle-making process Marian showed him made his mouth water incessantly.

The couple retreated to their room, the lights went out, and Marian's breathing gradually steadied after a busy day.

George tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep, noodles filled his mind.

Not knowing how much time passed, he checked his watch, and it was already two in the morning.

"This won't do, I'll get insomnia."

Throwing off the covers and sitting up, he quietly got out of bed, opened the bedroom door, and sneaked out straight to the kitchen.

Marian has this old habit, a poor memory, resulting in the kitchen walls and fridge being covered with many preparation methods of old friends.

He didn't dare turn on the light for fear of waking his family, so he used his phone's faint glow to search around. Soon, he found a new note on the fridge; his eyes lit up.
