Chapter 53 - Orks and Necrons

Guilliman's actions were like a storm, sweeping across the entire Human Imperium.

Countless people were shaken by it.

All those families and powers that had intended to test the Primarch fell silent.

No one dared to challenge a Primarch's wrath, at least not openly.

Brand new penal legions departed from the Natal system, to be thrown into the Imperium's most brutal battlefields.

Every single member of the penal legions was a scion of nobility judged guilty; they were to wash away their fathers' sins in blood and fire.

The demise of the Natal system's noble powers and the purging of its bureaucracy did not cause any unrest.

Guilliman, who had prepared in advance, ordered Yasily's team to take over the rule of the Natal system and maintain the normal operation of the system government.

After dealing with these matters, he set off.

He planned to travel to the Konor system to rendezvous with other loyalist forces and enter the next phase of the crusade.

The Konor system was an important industrial system of Ultramar, and also a fringe system of the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar.

The loyalists departed from Macragge, splitting into different routes, and finally converged on the Konor system to complete the cleansing of non-human forces within the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar and build a stable rear.

It is worth mentioning that Konor was also the name of Guilliman's adoptive father.

Compared to the unfortunate childhoods of other Primarchs, Guilliman was adopted from a young age by Konor, the planetary governor of Macragge.

Konor governed Macragge very well.

His words and deeds, such as advocating for public welfare and actively promoting meritocratic reforms, had a profound influence on the Primarch, and these ideas accompanied the Primarch throughout his life.

Guilliman was the only Primarch who grew up with both parents.

His father only died in a rebellion after he reached adulthood.

His mother lived for a long time; she was still alive during the Horus Heresy and was nearly killed by Curze during the period when the Second Imperium was established.

Fortunately, thanks to the loyalists' selfless sacrifices, his mother escaped that ordeal and lived to a ripe old age.

It was precisely because of the care given by his parents and a healthy family that Guilliman never lost faith in humanity and never had any thought of defecting to Chaos.

He was severely wounded several times by weapons imbued with the dark power of Chaos, but he endured each time, never succumbing to his own warp-infused nature.

It was precisely because of this that Guilliman clearly realized that humanity's positive emotions, a good family, and a healthy childhood were powerful tools against the erosion of Chaos.

If people had nothing worth cherishing or looking forward to, living in a hopeless hell, how could they resist throwing themselves into Chaos?

To commemorate his father, Guilliman, during the Great Crusade, named an important industrial planet after his adoptive father, as a reminder to himself not to forget his adoptive father's teachings.

Beyond the Konor system lay the Charadon Sector.

That place was ravaged by the greenskin orks and invaded by two awakening necron dynasties.

The Charadon Sector would be the location of Guilliman's next crusade.

The Charadon Sector was also an important granary and armory.

The sector possessed mineral-rich planets, glittering gas giants, and vast asteroid belts containing ore.

It had abundant sources of raw materials, capable of meeting extensive industrial demands.

Unlike many similar sectors that needed to invest all their productivity into industry.

The Charadon Sector also possessed a series of agricultural worlds.

Its crop yields were not only sufficient to feed its own people but also capable of exporting to other sectors.

More importantly, the sector possessed industrial production capabilities.

The Forge World of Steel Ball alone could produce vast quantities of firearms, tanks, fighter jets, and ammunition.

Not to mention its other Forge Worlds and Industrial Worlds.

Its powerful production capacity was crucial to Guilliman's subsequent plans.

The only drawback was that the forces within the Charadon Sector were not solely human.

Numerous xenos forces were also mixed in, constantly warring among themselves, forcing the Charadon Sector to permanently station space marine Chapters and large numbers of Imperial troops.

Among them, the most terrifying was the ork Warlord, the Arsonist.

orks are a very special race, and also one of the most fearsome races in the galaxy.

The more numerous they are, the smarter they become, and the stronger their Warlords grow.

During the Great Crusade, even the Emperor himself had to intervene personally to confront the Ork Emperor, and it was only with the help of nine Primarchs that the great victory at Ullanor was achieved.

Unfortunately, the Horus Heresy occurred, and the Emperor was gravely wounded as a result.

The loyalist Primarchs either died or vanished from the Imperium.

Humanity gradually forgot the threat posed by the greenskin orks.

It wasn't until the 32nd Millennium, with the powerful rise of the orks, that humanity realized how terrifying they were.

The Imperial Fists Chapter, tasked with defending Terra, was completely wiped out in an engagement with a War Moon led by the ork Warlord known as the Beast, and this included a massive naval fleet.

When the Ork War Moon emerged, the Imperial fleet was directly pulverized by gravitational tides, utterly destroyed with no suspense whatsoever.

Subsequently, the massive War Moon reached Terra, becoming the first hostile force to attack Terra after the Horus Heresy.

The High Lords were nearly forced to surrender.

Vulkan, the Primarch of the Salamanders Chapter, returned and led Imperial forces to strike into the heart of the ork territory, Ullanor.

In battle, the ork warboss the Beast instantly killed Chapter Master-level Space Marines, and subsequently perished alongside Vulkan in the ensuing fight.

At that time, there were a total of six powerful ork Warlords, and the Beast was just one of them.

The only fortunate thing was that the ork Warlords were not united; they would only rarely join forces, otherwise, the Human Imperium would absolutely struggle to withstand the ork attacks.

Unlike other races, the reason orks wage war is not for wealth, nor to establish a new empire.

orks only crave one thing: to satisfy their endless desire for destruction in the most spectacular way possible.

This savage nature drives the orks to throw themselves into meaningless and endless insane wars.

Without enemies, orks will even attack each other for the sheer joy of killing.

In this dark, despairing universe where there is only war, the orks are the only optimistic race.

Ork Warbosses, Ork Boyz, even Gretchin, all get excited by war.

To ensure the Charadon Sector can stably contribute to the crusade effort, the ork Warlords are a threat that must be eliminated.

Besides the orks, the necrons are also a threat.

The history of the necrons can be traced back to the War in Heaven 60 million years ago, a time when Chaos had not yet risen and the gods had not yet awakened.

The warp was silent.

The Old Ones tirelessly spread life, cultivating psyker races.

The necrons were not yet called by that name, but were known as the necrontyr.

They were born on a planet ravaged by stellar radiation, which caused them to suffer a terrible curse of short lifespans; only by using stasis fields to sleep could they traverse the stars.

Out of envy for the Old Ones' nearly eternal lives, they waged war, only to be soundly defeated by the Old Ones and confined to their homeworld.

To achieve victory in the war, they appealed to ancient lifeforms that fed on stars, the C'tan, begging for their help and asking them to forge bodies for them.

The C'tan deceived the necrontyr, making them transfer their flesh and blood bodies into metallic forms, devouring their flesh and souls, leaving them with only cold logical data, thus turning them into necrons.

With the help of the C'tan, the necrons acquired the most formidable technological power in the galaxy, capable of effortlessly wiping out entire star systems.

Using the power of the C'tan, the necrons destroyed the Old Ones and most of the psyker races created by the Old Ones, and then betrayed the C'tan, shattering them into fragments.

Due to their extremely heavy losses, the necrons were unable to contend with the rising Aeldari Empire, which had inherited the legacy of the Old Ones.

Left with no choice, they could only fall into slumber, awaiting their opportunity.

It wasn't that the necrons couldn't defeat the Aeldari at the time, but rather that they themselves were on the brink of extinction.

They no longer possessed souls or flesh, only metallic bodies and logical data.

In other words, the necrons had no way to procreate.

Even if they could, it would only be copies of their minds.

Of course, they could also convert other races, but whether those would still be necrons is hard to say.

The necrons could only sleep, waiting for the decline of the Aeldari Empire and the resurgence of life in the galaxy, so that they might seek a way to reverse the C'tan's curse.

As long ages passed, the necrons gradually began to awaken.

The power of these dynasties had not yet returned to its peak, but the threat they posed was not to be underestimated.

"Orks, Necrons." Guilliman looked at the intelligence report regarding the Charadon Sector in his hand, his brows slightly furrowed. After dealing with the Konor system, it was time to deploy the trump card of the Primaris Space Marines.
