Chapter 59 - Pharos

Guilliman looked around at these people and also smiled.

The Great Rift tore through the entire galaxy, and humanity ushered in the most terrifying dark invasion.

Monsters and daemons from the Age of Strife constantly emerged, ravaging human worlds.

Humanity's fear, unease, and despair echoed in the Warp.

Humanity was heading towards destruction, and the Imperium was on its last breath, about to collapse.

It was these people before him who maintained the Imperium's last existence.

At this moment of bureaucratic corruption, and when all beings were lost and terrified, they stepped forward and shouldered the responsibility of protecting humanity.

"It is a pleasure that we can gather here."

The Primarch's voice did not need any amplification device to reach every corner of the hall, allowing all the commanders to hear.

"Our race is facing an unprecedented disaster. The fall of Cadia is merely the beginning. Unprecedented darkness is gathering. Humanity is only one step away from extinction.

The Great Rift has torn through the entire galaxy, and countless planets are deeply mired in disaster. Our duty is immensely important, especially at this moment, gentlemen."

"In order to save the Imperium and reverse humanity's fate of destruction, reform is already imminent.

The reforms in the Ultramar system have earned us the welcome of the people and have also provided us with more troops and resources. This has already proven the necessity of reform."

"But there will always be those who covet the power in their hands, attempting to resist change and placing their own interests above those of the Imperium and the race. At that time, the pressure you face will be unprecedentedly heavy, and the Chaos Gods will not allow us to succeed so easily.

They will deceive you, guide you down the wrong path. I only wish to advise you here: when you are lost and uncertain, you must calm down and ask yourselves what you are fighting for."

"Is it for the honor that others praise? Is it for the cheers of victory? Or is it to protect our race, to protect the glory of my father, and to fulfill his great dream that was never completed?"

Guilliman was silent for a moment, paused skillfully to stir people's emotions, and then continued.

"Regardless of the reason that led you down this path. This time, I hope you fight for humanity, for the Imperium, and to protect the glory of my father, to fight for the great dream that was never completed."

"I, the Lord Regent of the Imperium, the Lord of Ultramar, am with you."

Following Guilliman's last words, the people let out a loud cheer.

The thunderous shouts of the Space Marines also merged in with the crackling sound of the loudspeakers.

The Primarch's speech stirred people's emotions, making them feel inspired.

In the following meeting, Guilliman briefly explained the mission.

To promote the reforms currently underway in Ultramar and to reorganize the political and economic environment of the Imperium.

And the most important point was to campaign against the xenos forces on Charadon.

Charadon is currently a mix of human, necron, and ork forces, with small-scale conflicts occurring constantly year after year.

If the threat could be completely eliminated, the Charadon Sector would become a powerful arm for the expedition.

A huge holographic projection hovered above the many attendees.

The projection detailed the various star systems, Imperial armies, rogue trader dynasties, and garrisoned Chapters in the Charadon Sector.

Guilliman assigned tasks to everyone in order to achieve a decisive blow and completely end the xenos forces in the Charadon Sector.

The War Council did not last long.

The main purpose of holding this meeting was not to discuss, but simply to inspire these loyalists of the Imperium.

Regarding the war plans, Guilliman had already conducted multiple simulations with the help of Sicarius, Phicris, Amalrich, and others.

With the power of the Primaris Space Marines, winning this war was not a difficult task.

After the meeting ended, Guilliman asked Amalrich, Celestine, and Clovis to stay behind.

The strengths of these three were not in fighting xenos.

Guilliman also did not intend for them to participate in the Charadon Sector campaign.

For the secrecy of his plan, and to say some things that might sound a bit irreverent.

Guilliman dismissed everyone else, leaving the three alone to talk.

This made Celestine and the others feel confused.

What kind of mission would make a Primarch so cautious.

"I have a completely new mission to give you."

"What is it, Lord?" Amalrich asked the Primarch, confused.

"We have achieved some success, but greater danger is still approaching. You should all know that the Emperor's Astronomican can no longer cross the Great Rift to illuminate the Imperium Nihilus, right?" Guilliman looked at the three, "Without the Emperor's Astronomican, human Warp travel is even more difficult, and it is also extremely dangerous for the various Chapters. My traitorous brother is also in the Dark Imperium, attempting to establish his twisted psyker empire."

The three nodded.

The news brought by Clovis was not top secret; they were all qualified to know it.

"We cannot be led by the enemy, but that doesn't mean we do nothing."

"What place, Lord?" Celestine asked.

"Pharos. There lies our hope of reclaiming the Dark Imperium and defeating Magnus."

Guilliman extended his hand, and a holographic projection appeared in the air with his movement.

A green planet was outlined by the projection, slowly rotating.

From the data, this was a colonial world with a low level of development.

"What is here?" Amalrich asked, puzzled.

Guilliman pondered for a moment and finally decided to be honest.

"There is a device here that is similar to a lighthouse. It can help us accomplish Warp travel."

"This is not human technology, is it?" Clovis asked with some solemnity.

"This is a xenos technology that I used ten thousand years ago. At that time, the situation in the galaxy was even worse than it is now. The gods stirred up a terrible Warp storm, attempting to make humanity their slaves and playthings. My father bore a heavy responsibility and fought against the gods."

"At that time, the light of the Astronomican disappeared, and I activated this mysterious technological device. It once helped me contact Sanguinius and the Lion, allowing us to face that shocking rebellion together."

Guilliman concealed some information.

The existence of the Second Imperium was not suitable to be told.

The reason for establishing the Second Imperium was only to consider the possibility that the Emperor might be killed by Horus.

He had to prepare for humanity to continue fighting against Horus.

But others would not think this way; they would think that he was trying to replace the Emperor.

"A brand new research team has already departed. They will analyze the technological device on Pharos, absorb its principles, and apply them. This way, we can provide some assistance to the Dark Imperium, help them build some lighthouses, allowing the Imperial fleet to escape the Warp storm."

"Using xenos technology??" Clovis' face showed a hint of solemnity.

"We have no choice, and we cannot simply consider this to be xenos technology. Knowledge does not belong to anyone. It is just that the xenos used this knowledge first. Should we give up? For some unnecessary persistence, and let the citizens of the Imperium suffer greatly?"

"The most likely ones to prevent us from applying this technology are Chaos, and you are all the strongest beings against Chaos. Therefore, I need your help to protect Pharos until the research team obtains enough data to fully understand and replicate that xenos technology."

Guilliman looked at Clovis, whose face still showed hesitation.

"Also, to defeat Magnus, Clovis. Without the lighthouse technology of Pharos, how can we stop Magnus? The Warp storm alone can take half the lives of the Imperial army."

Hearing about Magnus and thinking of his insane plan, Clovis finally nodded.

"Very well, it is decided. Then, each of you prepare to depart."

Guilliman's face showed a slight smile.

Three days later, the Imperial forces gathered in the Konnor system were divided into several teams.

For the Charadon campaign, the Primarch had assigned them different tasks.

Celestine, Amalrich, and Clovis also set off for the planet Pharos with their secret mission.
