"You were too far away to hear, but I was right next to her ear. Although the sound was very soft, I'm certain."
Aunt Ana said seriously, "While she was on the phone, someone was licking your mother's earlobe. And his saliva definitely got on your mother's phone."
"Could it be Dad?"
"When a mother calls to ask if her son is safe, do you think the father would be flirting with her? And since you're not home, it's impossible for your dad to pass up the opportunity to go out and have some fun!" Aunt Ana paused. "Alright, this isn't the place to talk. Let's find somewhere to eat first."
For some reason, Aunt Ana led Lian to the biggest restaurant in town.
Then they found a relatively quiet spot by the window and even asked the waiter to light two candles to create a more intimate atmosphere.
Lian had come here with his parents before to try new things, but the current situation was clearly different from previous family meals.
"Is this considered a date?" Lian finally mustered the courage to ask.
"You guessed it, handsome!" His aunt elegantly picked up her alcohol and took a sip.
Lian's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets!
Was this refined lady really the same fiery, fierce aunt?
"Not like the same person, am I?" His aunt gently set down her glass, her eyes seemingly recalling something. "I remember a boyfriend who thought the same thing, saying I had a dual personality. Actually, I don't know what a dual personality is. I just think that different situations call for different behaviors. It's just a matter of politeness." Seeing his aunt speak so confidently, Lian relaxed. "So, Auntie is one way at home and another way outside. Right?"
"Of course." His aunt smiled gently at Lian. But her next words revealed her true nature: "Why don't you mention that Auntie is a completely different person in bed?" Lian, who had just imitated his aunt's gesture by taking a sip of his drink, choked immediately upon hearing this, coughing repeatedly.
The aunt didn't care about Lian's reaction. Instead, she turned to the side, gazing at the city night view outside the window, and said softly, "You think Auntie is a slut, right? She doesn't even spare her own nephew..."
Lian stopped coughing. Composing himself, as if having made up his mind, he looked up at his aunt and replied, "It's because of Dad, isn't it?"
The aunt turned her head, looking at Lian in surprise!
Just as Lian had guessed, the aunt didn't remember saying anything from the previous night.
"You were sad a lot later… after seeing Dad. So I guessed some things." Lian didn't have the courage to meet his aunt's gaze, so he could only look down at the wine glass on the table. "I didn't expect you to have such a deep brother complex, Auntie."
"So much knowledge, it's scary! It seems Auntie really can't treat you like a child anymore." His aunt's surprised expression calmed down, and she didn't show much panic at having her innermost thoughts exposed.
"Actually, I don't think it's anything special. It's quite common for siblings to develop feelings that go a bit beyond." Lian continued, "Auntie, there's really no need to be so concerned about this feeling."
"You're right. But brother, oh no, your father was just too outstanding in my memory. So I've always hoped to marry a man like your father."
Lian made a small gesture, a gesture he had unconsciously developed over the past two years.
"Was the person at the guesthouse yesterday my dad?" Lian couldn't help but ask, because he needed his aunt's confirmation to verify his earlier guesses.
"Yes…" His aunt sighed. "My brother is almost perfect in my eyes, um, the kind of perfect good man! Loyal in love, responsible to his family, hardworking, and ambitious. Of course, we're siblings, so I definitely can't be his wife. Besides, my standards are too high. I've dated one boyfriend after another and none of them can compare to him. I'm still an old unmarried woman. Isn't that ridiculous?"
"You laugh at everything..." Lian muttered without thinking, then suddenly realized what he meant and quickly leaned back to dodge his aunt's sudden outburst and physical punishment.
To Lian's surprise, his aunt looked at him with the same expression, showing no sign of anger.
"Yeah... there's nothing funny about a situation like this," his aunt said mockingly.
"So? Maybe? Hmm, perhaps 'maybe' is a better word… anyway, I just hope your family is safe, healthy, and happy. That makes me feel happy too!"
Just then, the waiter started bringing the dishes one by one. The aunt and nephew stopped talking for a while. After all, they hadn't eaten anything all day, so filling their stomachs became their top priority.
After the waiter cleared the table and brought them drinks, the conversation continued.
"The day before yesterday, you told me your mother was talking flirtatiously with another man on the phone. Of course, I was very angry. I figured you probably knew more, which is why I thought of taking you home. And then..." Aunt smiled, not sure how to go on.
"You wanted to interrogate me, didn't you!" Lian laughed too.
"I didn't expect someone your age to be so clever... and quite the handful. You even dared to kiss me and tease me when I wasn't paying attention. So yesterday, I decided to change my approach. Since it was already settled that you would be staying for a while, I could take my time afterward to slowly get information out of you."
"Was what happened in the room yesterday also part of your plan, Auntie?" Lian remembered the events of yesterday morning.
"No, that wasn't. I was just teasing you." Aunt showed a mischievous expression, revealing her two little canine teeth.
"If you dared to set a trap for me! As payback, I'll mess with your head, give you a taste of your own medicine, and leave you with no way to release your frustration. That's the most effective punishment for a little rascal like you, filled with dirty thoughts!"
