Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Don't Bat Your Eyes at Just Anyone

I didn't expect to encounter them here!

Eve Sherman instinctively turned around, took a glass of champagne from a server, and blended into the crowd nearby, wanting to avoid Mrs. Shaw and Rory Shaw.

Since she got married, it had been a long time since she'd faced any of the Shaws.

If they saw her working here now, they would again drag out her past private affairs or pester her about her husband's whereabouts, causing endless trouble.

"I heard that President Sutton just returned from abroad and is the new elite of Ardane. Now that I see him, he truly has an extraordinary aura."

Mrs. Shaw, holding Rory Shaw's hand, greeted Stellan Sutton with a beaming smile.

With a slight smile, Stellan Sutton was about to ask who this old lady was to Eve Sherman and turned his head, only to find that Eve had disappeared.

Considering her recent special situation, he calmly raised his champagne and clinked glasses with Mrs. Shaw, "Thank you for your compliment."

"This is my granddaughter, Rory Shaw. She will be the general manager of The Shaw Group in the future. You two might often meet because of work, Rory, say hello to President Sutton."

Mrs. Shaw said, pulling Rory Shaw closer.

Rory Shaw's face flushed red. She glanced at Stellan Sutton with affection, then lowered her eyes gracefully and clinked glasses with him, "Hello, President Sutton, I'm Rory Shaw."

Rory Shaw was quite excited.

She was getting older, and marrying a man of equal social status was only a matter of time. Fourth Master had disappeared for two years; she couldn't find him and was still single up to now.

Originally fearing that grandma would arrange a man she didn't like, she didn't expect such a handsome and elegant man to suddenly appear, adding another option for her.

If she couldn't get Fourth Master but could catch this man, that would be pretty good too.

Thinking this, her eyes glimmered as she approached with a smile, softly saying, "I heard President Sutton is new to Ardane. I know almost everyone here; let me show you around?"

Stellan Sutton chuckled indifferently, "I've met almost everyone already. I'm waiting for my companion, but thank you for your kindness, Miss Shaw."

Rory Shaw didn't expect he would refuse her so indirectly. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she gave Mrs. Shaw a frustrated look, and Mrs. Shaw nodded at her, so she reluctantly stepped back.

"Then I won't disturb you, President Sutton. See you later."

After a few steps, Rory Shaw's face fell, "Grandma, this President Sutton seems hard to get."

Mrs. Shaw patted her hand, softly reassuring her, "Men take time and patience. We've just started working with them, so you'll have plenty of chances to meet with him later. Don't rush, be reserved."

Eve Sherman felt a pinch seeing Mrs. Shaw and Rory Shaw here, slightly unsettled as she tried to avoid facing them.

But those two just wouldn't leave, sticking around Stellan Sutton.

Stellan would soon think she was neglecting her duties.

"Miss, are you alone?"

She was looking around when a man moved closer, smiling at her.

"May I get to know you?"

She didn't respond. The man took a step closer, "I wonder which family's daughter you are, so beautiful and enchanting and yet unfamiliar."

Eve Sherman sighed helplessly, giving a faint smile, "You are quite handsome too, but sorry, I'm already married."

The man's enthusiasm instantly cooled, "Oh, you're married? Alright then."

After sending the man away, she turned around only to find that at some point Stellan Sutton had come up behind her.

Mrs. Shaw and Rory Shaw were nowhere to be seen.

She quickly whispered an explanation, "President Sutton, I, I just went to the restroom."

Stellan Sutton nodded, "I understand, it turns out you're also married."

Eve Sherman didn't hesitate, "Yes, I'm married."

Stellan Sutton chuckled lightly, "Don't misunderstand, I just found it a bit surprising, as I hadn't heard about it during our background check. I wasn't trying to pry into your privacy."

Eve Sherman, of course, knew he wasn't that type of person and gave him a slight smile, asking, "Is there anyone else you'd like to meet?"

"They'll come over to talk to me. I can handle it alone; you can take a break somewhere if you're not feeling well."

Eve Sherman quickly shook her head, "No need, President Sutton, I'm not unwell."

"That's good then."

As they were chatting, Simon Ford suddenly appeared, winking at Eve Sherman, "Hello, beauty."

Stellan Sutton frowned with displeasure, "Don't flirt with just anyone; she's married."
