Stellan Sutton quietly watched her without saying a word, yet it seemed as if he'd spoken volumes.
Feeling his gaze, Eve Sherman didn't say much either, instead she drank glass after glass, and soon, the bottle was empty.
Stellan knew she could handle her alcohol, but even a good tolerance couldn't withstand that kind of drinking.
"Drink slower, you'll get drunk soon enough."
Eve chuckled softly, "Wouldn't it be nice to be drunk for a lifetime? That way, there'd be fewer worries and hits."
Upon hearing her words, Stellan said no more, just continued to quietly watch her, "Then let's get drunk together. I'll stay with you."
Eve looked up at the night sky.
It seemed the sky understood her mood, gloomy and starless.
She didn't know when her own star would appear.
Life already felt so difficult, though she had been more fortunate than those impoverished village kids, abandoned but adopted, and found to marry quite a good man.
