Chapter 10 - 10. The City’s First Fairy Incident (…Oops)

Lyria thought she was done causing disasters for at least one day.

She was wrong.

Very wrong.

It started when she and Puff returned to Sparrow's small, cluttered apartment. Lyria collapsed face-first onto the couch, groaning like a dying whale.

"I can't move," she mumbled into the cushions. "My wings feel like they've been chewed by a dragon."

"That's… oddly specific," Sparrow said.

Before Lyria could respond, a small shimmer of magic leaked from her fingertips. Just a tiny sparkle. Barely noticeable.

Then the room exploded.

Not literally — but the entire apartment became a glitter hurricane.

Sparrow froze mid-sip.

Puff froze mid-hover.

Lyria froze mid-groan.

The glitter kept falling.

And falling.

And falling.

"Um," Lyria whispered, "why isn't it stopping?"

Puff facepalmed. "Because you accidentally cast an uncontrolled aura bloom!"

"What does that mean?"

"It means," he said dramatically, "your magic is unstable and it's currently… affecting everything around you."

Sparrow coughed out a mouthful of glitter. "Can it not affect my lungs?"

Puff tapped his chin. "It's harmless… mostly."

Lyria gulped. "Define 'mostly'."

That was when the floor lamp sprouted leaves.

And the refrigerator grew tiny butterfly wings.

And Sparrow's socks, lying in the laundry basket, began dancing like they were performing a musical number.

Luria slapped her hands over her face. "NO. NO. THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING."

Puff nodded gravely. "It is happening."

Sparrow stared at his dancing socks in horror. "MAKE IT STOP!"

Luria jumped up, wings flaring. "I'll fix it! I'll… I'll counterspell it!"

She did not fix it.

Her attempt at a counterspell caused the refrigerator to take off and crash into the ceiling like a confused metal pigeon.

The dancing socks began tap-dancing harder.

And the glitter turned into floating jellyfish made of light.

Sparrow screamed.

Puff screamed.

Lyria screamed the loudest.

"THIS IS A FAIRY INCIDENT!" Puff shouted. "A MAJOR ONE!"

Luria grabbed him by the shoulders. "HOW DO I STOP IT?!"

"You need to calm your magic!"

"I AM NOT CALM!"

"That's why it's a problem!"

Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

All three froze.

"Hello?" a woman's voice called out. "Is everything alright? It sounded like… crashing and yelling?"

Lyria panicked.

Humans weren't supposed to see fairy magic.

Not full-scale unfiltered fairy chaos!

Sparrow whispered, "Oh no. It's my landlady."

Puff squeaked, "If she sees this, your identity might be exposed!"

Lyria took a deep breath.

She had two choices:

1. Open the door and try to bluff her way through.

2. Hide behind the glitter jellyfish and pray for a miracle.

She chose option 1.

Lyria yanked the door open—

—and froze.

The landlady stared inside.

At the floating refrigerator.

At the tap-dancing socks.

At the blooming lamp.

At the glitter jellyfish gently bobbing around.

There was silence.

Then the landlady said:

"…You better clean all that up by tonight, Sparrow."

And walked away.

Sparrow closed the door slowly, in shock.

Lyria collapsed again. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause chaos!"

Puff patted her shoulder. "Don't worry. Fairy Queens cause chaos simply by existing. It's normal."

Lyria groaned. "THAT DOESN'T MAKE ME FEEL BETTER."

But despite her embarrassment, a strange realization hit her.

Her magic — even unstable — was powerful.

Too powerful for the human world.

If she didn't get control soon…

This wouldn't be the last fairy incident.

Not even close.
