Chapter 2 - The Intern Nobody

Han Technology Headquarters

The towering glass building of Han Technology stood like a silent warning to competitors.

Inside, chaos buzzed.

"THE YOUNG MASTER IS COMING TODAY!"

Secretaries adjusted files. Managers straightened ties. The PR team rehearsed smiles that looked slightly painful.

But in a quiet café across the street, Han Joon-seok sat in a plain white shirt, jeans, and sneakers.

No luxury watch. No driver. No aura of "future chairman."

He stared at his reflection in his coffee cup.

"From prince to intern… this is going to be fun."

He smirked.

He had officially applied for an entry-level strategy intern position under a fake resume.

Name: Han J.S.Education: London Business School (true).Family background: "Private."

He wanted to see how the company actually worked.

Without people kneeling.

Without people lying.

Without people fearing him.

And most importantly—

Without being treated like glass.

Meanwhile… Yoo Group Headquarters

Across town, at Yoo Group's corporate tower, Yoo Ha-rin stood confidently in front of the boardroom.

Her father crossed his arms.

"You just came back from the U.S. and already want to investigate Han Technology?"

Ha-rin smiled sweetly.

"I'm not investigating. I'm benchmarking."

Her grandfather laughed loudly from the couch.

"Benchmarking, she says! Just say you want to crush them!"

She winked.

"I prefer the word… compete."

Her father sighed.

"Stay away from Han Technology."

Ha-rin adjusted her blazer.

"Relax, Dad. I'm just attending today's inter-company strategic conference. They invited young executives."

She paused.

"And I want to see how capable Han's heir really is."

Back at Han Technology

Joon-seok walked into the lobby.

Employees lined up neatly.

The elevator doors opened dramatically.

Chairman Han stepped out.

Everyone bowed.

But Joon-seok quietly slipped into the intern orientation line instead.

The HR manager glanced at his name tag.

"Han J.S…?"

"Yes."

"You're late."

He blinked.

Late?

Nobody had ever called him late in his life.

"Sorry."

She gave him a clipboard.

"Follow instructions."

He smiled slowly.

Interesting.

Intern Orientation

Ten interns stood awkwardly in a line.

One girl whispered loudly:

"I heard the chairman's son is coming today."

Another replied:

"They say he's handsome and ruthless."

Joon-seok coughed.

"Oh? Is he now?"

The girl looked at him.

"You're new. Don't joke about him."

He tilted his head.

"What if I am him?"

The entire group burst into laughter.

"Good one!"

He laughed too.

This was already more entertaining than five years of board meetings.

Conference Hall – Later That Day

A joint corporate networking event.

Executives from major companies gathered.

Joon-seok carried presentation files behind his team leader.

An intern.

Carrying files.

He felt oddly alive.

Then—

The doors opened.

And in walked Yoo Ha-rin.

Elegant black blazer. Hair tied neatly. Calm but commanding aura.

He froze.

She froze.

They both blinked.

"…Blobfish face?" she muttered.

"…Coffee criminal?" he replied.

The air tightened.

Their team leaders turned.

"You two know each other?"

Both answered at the same time:

"No."

"Yes."

Silence.

Ha-rin forced a corporate smile.

"We met. Briefly."

He adjusted his sleeve.

"Very brief."

Their managers looked confused but ignored it.

The Presentation Disaster

Midway through the conference, the projector malfunctioned.

The screen flickered.

The room went dark.

Executives whispered.

Ha-rin stepped forward calmly.

"We can continue verbally."

Joon-seok's team leader panicked.

"Our slides—"

Joon-seok sighed and walked toward the stage.

Ha-rin noticed.

"What are you doing, Intern?"

He glanced at her.

"Saving you from boredom."

He picked up a marker and began drawing strategy models on a whiteboard.

Quick.

Precise.

Confident.

The room went silent.

Even Ha-rin's expression changed.

This wasn't intern-level thinking.

He outlined market positioning, supply chain leverage, and long-term expansion with frightening clarity.

Ha-rin narrowed her eyes.

This… is not normal.

When he finished, applause filled the room.

Her grandfather, who had secretly attended, whispered:

"That intern… who is he?"

Ha-rin stared at Joon-seok.

Her competitive instinct awakened.

After the meeting, she cornered him near the elevators.

"Who are you really?"

He leaned casually against the wall.

"Intern."

"Don't lie."

"Why? You lied first."

Her eyebrow twitched.

"I don't lie."

"Benchmarking, remember?"

She stepped closer.

"You talk like someone who owns the building."

He smirked.

"Maybe I just have confidence."

The elevator opened.

They stepped in together.

Alone.

Silence.

The tension shifted.

Not anger.

Not entirely.

Something warmer.

The elevator suddenly jerked and stopped.

Lights flickered.

They both looked up.

"…You have to be kidding me," she whispered.

He sighed.

"First coffee. Now elevator. Fate really likes clichés."

She crossed her arms.

"If this is your strategy to trap me, it's pathetic."

He leaned closer slightly.

"If I wanted to trap you, I wouldn't need an elevator."

Her heartbeat betrayed her.

And she hated that.
