Chapter 3 - The bus incident.

A rainy day in New York was always welcomed as it brought the perfect vibe for lazy comfort. But the other part is that it's still a rainy day. Faith experienced this in the most convenient way possible. Her bus card was out of credit.

The redhead paced around in circles as she still tried to process the fact that her bus card had declined the moment it started raining heavily. The bus driver didn't even bother giving her the sympathy speech. He told her, "Out with ur own two feet or my assistance." A prick, but at least his doing his job. After another minute of endless pacing, she stopped, collecting her thoughts. "OK, Faith...it's not the end of the world, just a minor inconvenience." she psyched herself into believing her words. Her eyes darted to her tote bag, clutched to her waist to protect her sketches from the onslaught of rain.

Her fingers snapped frantically on her phone's screen, "B-Bobbi...please pick up the phone." Her voice grew with worry.

The minute Bobbi's caller ID was visible, the hope growing was destroyed as her phone died. "Why didn't I bring a fricking charger!" she cursed. The rain continued to hammer down as if mocking her situation. Just as all hope was lost and it looked like she'd have to camp at the bus stop till Bobbi eventually came looking for her.

"Need a ride?" a voice called out. Her eyes snapped to the source as just another few feet away in a black SUV, parked close to the pavement, a man leaned over the vehicle, left arm holding an umbrella and his arm tucked in his jacket. The scene was like something out of a movie.

"Umm~ it's ok, I'm waiting for somebody," she muttered, her voice close to a whisper. The man raised a brow at her reaction, sudden realisation flashing in his eyes like a camera flash.

"Oh...this isn't a kidnapping, if that's what ur thinking." The joke barely made her chuckle.

"W-what?" Faith's shock at his comment only made her more scared. "Are you joking? If you are, this isn't funny at all." She said seriously, voice a bit shaky.

The man rubbed his head as his joke made the situation even more tense than it was. "Sorry about that. I tend to make jokes at the worst times." He honestly replied. "Look, I know it looks like a textbook example of a kidnapping, but I promise it's just a free ride, no strings attached," he assured her. The rain continued its dance as the two stared at each other for what felt like eternity.

Finally, she responded," I... I guess that's the best option." she replied timidly.

The SUV moved along with the steady traffic as the rain finally calmed to moderate drizzles that fell like a leaking faucet. The atmosphere in the car was a total contrast as the occupants tried to hold on to small talk.

Bo tapped on his wheel, his hand still steadying the vehicle. " So... how exactly did you end up crying at the bus stop?" he asked, the question obviously a jab.

" I wasn't crying!" Faith barked out, louder than expected."I was on the bus when my card declined, and coincidentally, my phone decided to go off." she said, tone embarrassed.

"Whatever you say, buddy." Bo teasingly retorted.

"Hey! I'm being serious, you jerk!" Her flushed pout only made her statement even more ridiculous.

Bo chuckled at her quirky personality, more entertaining than the time Fergy inhaled sawdust. The dude is really special. His thoughts moved to the girls in the passenger seat, as her eyes didn't seem to leave him.

"You've been staring for the last few minutes." He called her out.

"I'm not staring... I'm just memorising ur face just in case you turn out to be a liar. " She said with determination.

"Oh, really... that's the dumbest thing I've heard today." He bluntly said. Her gasp was as pure as the blush on her face." You bastard, that's not a nice thing to say." She snapped back at him.

"And calling me a bastard is ?" he snorted.

"Am I wrong?" Faith purred out the words, her amusement growing at every response. The car was filled with the warmth of the banter.

"Ur really weird, you know that?"

"Same to you...buddy. " emphasising the way he says it.

Bo sighed, "How far is ur place again ?" The question is more teasing than informative.

"Just keep driving, bud." she giggled loudly.

"Bo. That's my name, Red."

"It's Faith...don't call me Red." She said, half-teasing half - half-serious

The rest of the drive was them going back to back between topics of hobbies, music, and fashion sense. Faith was fully immersed in Bo's stories of annoying clients, workshop mishaps and a cluster of splinter scars from his early years of human error.

Brooklyn, New York |7:00 PM

Faith's apartment building, was in view as Bo was turning into the park by the building's entrance. They stepped out of the car and were immediately greeted by the cold wind, kissing its way across their skin like a lost lover. Faith shivered as she wrapped her arms around herself. Bo standing on her right, with his arms tucked in his pockets, smirked at the shivering Redhead.

"You doing alright there, Red?" He teased, voice slightly shivering.

"Doing amazing Bo," Faith replied.

Before he could reply with another witty comment, a sharp voice cut in, "Faith! Where the hell have you been?" She frantically called out. Following behind her was Jane. The pale beauty was smirking but the urgency of her stride showed her worry. As the two got closer, the recognition of the man next to her hit like adrenaline and in that moment Bobbi got closer to them, she moved in a blur, slamming Bo to the side of his car. The sound was a resounding bang, Faith yelled her name and Jane for once stunned and in the passing moment of it all, Bo just stood staring, pressed between his vehicle and a redhead who was a foot shorter than him.

"So...this is the service ur clients get after hours?" Bo joked, not taking this situation seriously at all.

"What the fuck! Are you doing with my sister?"

"We meet again, giant man." Jane added.

Life is quite strange.
