The two small fire storms collided and merged into one, the fire storm's power and size began to swell until it burst forth. The earth above the two, shattered and was swallowed into the ever growing fire. Lucius couldn't react in time and was swallowed by the fire, it dragged him upwards while burning the man leaving horrific burn marks. Acting quickly he cast a moonstone barrier around himself in the form of a circle with him in the middle so as to not get further cooked alive. The torrent of flames brought the moonstone upwards bursting through the ground, annihilating any structure which laid on its top. It eventually spat the moonstone out, and plummeted towards the roof of one of the side keeps in the castle. He dispelled the barrier and used the moonstone and ice at his disposal to soften his fall. He avoided crashing through the roof and landed not so softly on the roof. Despite his sorry state, he stood tall in face of the looming danger which barreled towards him.
As Rayna closes in on the prince, not letting him go unpunished for disturbing her family bonding session. She summoned a greatsword shrouded in flames, its size was astronomical , never had he seen such a sight. The only way to survive a blow from that blade was to conjure something to rival it, a superior force. At Lucius' command, a greatsword of moonstone cloaked in ice of absolute zero appeared. He swung the greatsword in the opposite direction to Rayna's, they collided, sending a shockwave throughout the castle, tearing apart the earth under them. The piercing sound produced had enough power to obliterate a common man's ear drums. Although Rayna wasn't done with her assault, the once towering greatsword of flames turned into multiple arrows of fire charging at the prince. He brought the greatsword to his defense, shielding himself from the rain of fire.
In response, he summoned the Lunar Moon, commanding it to fire a blast of pure energy at the woman destroying everything in its wake. The full moon appeared from the darkness, casting its light directly on the woman. Briefly blinding her, she began to laugh at this but quickly quieted herself at the ray of pure white heading her direction. Its intent clear to see. The ray of light illuminated the castle, looking like an attack from the heavens themselves. For none the wiser, it appeared to be from the Lunar Goddess herself. Rayna did everything she could to avoid disintegration, she managed to dodge the full brunt of the attack but she was certainly not unharmed. Her right arm had been taken by the light, leaving a bloody stump. She clutched her stump with her remaining arm, his power didn't come from the sun but the moon. Frostbite soon set in from the blast, her body turning purple. Her fate was set in stone at this point but Lucius was in no better state, his body was littered by hideous burns. The slightest movement causing unbearable pain to the prince, but he still stood tall refusing to submit.
"I shall not die!" shouted Rayna, charging at the prince. She purged the frost from her system, wrapping her body in flames from the sun itself. Replacing her arm with fire, she branded two longswords lunging forwards at him aimed for his heart.
He conjured ice from the moon to line the remaining roof, covering it fully. Her reckless charge was stopped by multiple chains of ice, which pierced through the ice into the woman's body. The many chains hung the woman up in front of him, they pierced through every part of her body. Her state was horrifying and extremely gruesome, the prince would have thrown up at the site but he had no time to worry about that with even more danger on the horizon. He dismissed the moon, and applied ice to his many burns. He walked past the former human, reduced to just body parts put up on display, the life already gone from her eyes. He changed the state of the ice from chains to a slope going down to the ground below, her body dropped to the ground. No indication of life.
In no state to navigate a staircase, he rode the slope down to the ground limping towards the main keep. Many guards were out searching for the source of the heavy damage which was just inflicted on the castle grounds. One of the guards noticed the limping prince and swiftly supported the man, helping him get to the main keep. He was beginning to slip in and out of consciousness but he willed himself awake, refusing to submit to the darkness.
Eventually, they reached the main keep outside were the commanders of the two armies including Ellis von Snow who was barking orders to soldiers nearby.
"Lucius! What happened? Were you the cause of this damage?" shouted Ellis, running over to the man with Lenore and Cecil in tow behind her.
"Let me." exclaimed Cecil, rushing over to his friend in need, taking the guard's position who walked off to fulfill his duties.
"Imminent attack, quick raise the alarm. The legion closing in on us, you have to make a choice Ellis." said Lucius though laboured breaths.
"What are you talking about, the Legion, we have seen no indication of that." said Ellis, confused by the statement.
"You have to listen to me, or we will all be dragged to death's door. Radia Ravenguarde of the Lunar Knights was really Rayna Zodcroff. Barion Zodcroff and his army are coming, you must make a decision, run or fight." muttered Lucius, his strength now failing him after this he slumped over falling into a slumber.
"Lucius!" shouted Lenore, rushing to him trying to slap him awake.
"He won't wake for a while, if what he said is true we are in for a bloody battle." stated Ellis, manipulating the air at her feet, propelling her upwards into the sky. As he said, the Legion were swiftly approaching the castle, assuming a crescent moon formation allowing for no escapees. War horns sounded across the castle, startling everyone by the unexpected attack with the two broken gates, their defenses would be completely exposed.
"Lenore and Cecil get him to safety, take him into the Darklands behind the castle. Fortunately for us, he is unconscious, no arguments will come from him. We can't have the Lunar prince dying on us. Escape through the back wall of the main keep, blast it down." announced Ellis, pointing towards the place she spoke of.
"Promise me you won't die, okay?" shouted Lenore, at Ellis' back who was leaving towards the main gates. She turned around wearing a bright smile which was misplaced in the current situation.
"I'm sorry but I can't promise everything but I'll try my best to live." shouted Ellis back, flying off before she could hear everything from her best friend. Tears were starting to accumulate in her eyes at the dire situation, she doubted she would ever see Lenore and the prince again. Their relationship had been rocky at the time but they all deeply cared for each other.
She flew over to the main battlements of Dragmere, the legion fast approaching. Paul von Moonblade had already commanded the twenty four thousand troops in the castle to assume a defensive position. She spotted him on the battlements of the central gate, she set herself down next to him.
"What is going on, how could they be here? Do scouts not know how to do their jobs now?" Asked Paul, furious at the current situation, his worst fear was being realized. His worst memory was repeating itself.
"Colonel Radia Ravenguarde was a traitor, she was slain by Lucius. He was in a sorry state, so I ordered Lenore and Cecil to escape the castle with him." reported Ellis, while Lucius hadn't told her the battle's results she could tell who was the winner.
"Radia?" asked Paul, in disbelief at the events unfolding in front of him. Never in a million years could he have guessed this would happen.
"Her true name was Rayna Zodcroff, second in command of the Legion." stated Ellis, her attitude an act she was overflowing with rage at the commander next to her at his lackluster judgement.
"Where are the Felix and Corbin?" asked Ellis.
"I sent them to the eastern gate to aid the defense." answered Paul.
As the two were talking, six mysterious figures were heading in their direction, splitting into groups of two and heading for a separate gate each. The two at the central gate were of large builds, one wielding a longsword and the other holding an orange spellbook with fire symbols crawling up its spine.
"You deal with those two, I'll go to the other gate. Let's hope Felix and Corbin can handle whatever comes their way." declared Ellis, shooting away, her malicious intent overflowing into the surrounding air bending it to her will.
