Chapter 5: Returning to School
Opening his eyes, he was met with an unfamiliar ceiling once more.
But this time, the transmigrator was calm; he didn't even observe his surroundings immediately.
After all, this was already the second time, so he could be said to have some experience, and thus wasn't very panicked.
However, when he saw the familiar little devil next to him, the transmigrator admitted that his heart still skipped a beat for a moment.
"You're awake? Relax, relax. I admit my calculations had a teensy-weensy problem, but it seems everything is fine now! So I, Stewie Griffin... am still that perfect scientist!"
Hearing the little menace talking to himself, the transmigrator breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed he hadn't transmigrated again.
And he certainly hadn't transmigrated into another Family Guy world.
That was good!
After all, he didn't want to be messed with by Stewie from other worlds again. Given Family Guy's track record, it would be hard to guarantee he'd encounter such a relatively sane version again.
"Okay! It seems you agree with my assessment. So, from now on, Chris's body belongs to you! We're square!"
"What? You mean, you won't mess with me anymore?"
Chris asked in surprise, just wanting to confirm if what Stewie said was true.
Actually, ever since he transmigrated, no one else had discovered his identity as a transmigrator. Even if they did, they couldn't do anything to him.
But only Stewie, this demon infant, not only perceived his identity but also had the ability to do all sorts of things to him.
Not to mention stripping his soul from Chris's body, just when Stewie didn't allow him to use Chris's identity, he felt as if he had truly lost that identity.
Not only could he not use the name Chris, but even Chris's memories became hazy and difficult to understand.
However, after Stewie allowed it, he found that he could use Chris's name again, and even the previously foggy memories became crystal clear.
This made Chris cautiously stare at Stewie, wanting to get an answer from him.
Through Chris's expression, Stewie saw his concerns, but he didn't elaborate, just smiled mysteriously and said, "Oh! You know, as half a cartoon character, I can always come up with some ridiculously over-the-top technology! Like an identity eraser!"
"Uh..." Chris opened his mouth, wanting to confirm again if Stewie truly wouldn't bother him anymore.
But thinking of Stewie's arrogance, his words could still be trusted, so he closed his mouth again.
And with Stewie's intelligence, he understood what Chris's actions meant just from his body language.
This made him raise an eyebrow, quite pleased that this transmigrator wasn't too bad; at least he was better than his original moronic older brother.
If it were the original Chris, he would definitely have to repeat it in more direct words, but this transmigrator didn't need to.
"To be honest, I'm starting to like you!"
Seeing Stewie suddenly say that, Chris felt a chill, as he remembered Stewie was... well, complicated in that department.
Fortunately, before the misunderstanding could escalate, Stewie spoke again: "Seeing as you're so perceptive, I'll give you a heads-up about something!"
"What?"
Seeing Stewie so serious, Chris suddenly realized he had been thinking wrong.
Right, Stewie wasn't like that with Chris. This demon child still cared about family boundaries, relatively speaking.
Though not by much!
"Hehe, just as I told you before, transmigrators possess extraordinary spatio-temporal characteristics, and during the experiment just now, your characteristics were activated by me prematurely!"
Looking at the smirking Stewie, Chris nervously swallowed and said, "So... so what? What will happen?"
Stewie, who was about to explain in detail, saw Chris's expression and was reminded of his older brother's stupidity, suddenly losing interest.
He waved his short infant arms and said impatiently, "You'll find out when the time comes! Now, get out of my room!"
"Uh..."
Chris, having been given the brush-off, had nowhere to vent his frustration. After all, the one inside was a notorious demon child.
So he could only leave uneasily, then carefully ponder everything Stewie had said, trying to decipher his every move to figure out what he hadn't finished saying.
Unfortunately, this was clearly a fool's errand.
The information Stewie revealed was still too little, and his intelligence hadn't reached genius level, so after a few days, Chris gradually put the matter aside.
——————
It was another morning, and today was Chris's day to return to school.
After this period of recuperation, he felt his body had fully recovered. In fact, because of participating in Stewie's experiment, Chris felt his body was even more robust than before he was injured.
Because of this, Chris was still somewhat concerned about what Stewie hadn't finished saying.
However, because he hadn't found any answers, and he had been busy reviewing his lessons these past two days, Chris hadn't had time to ponder the aftermath of the experiment.
Fortunately, Chris attended James Woods Regional High School, a public school, and he had just entered high school, currently in his freshman year.
And America, well!
As everyone knows, public schools advocate so-called 'happy education', so Chris's academic pressure wasn't particularly heavy.
Coupled with the sharp mind and enhanced focus that all transmigrators seem to possess, in just two days, Chris completed all his coursework review.
This also gave him time to prepare for unknown events.
Following his memories, Chris arrived at the classroom. After dealing with a few buddies who were concerned about him, Chris began to plan how he could protect himself in the face of unknown events.
But just as he settled into quiet thought for a moment, an unfamiliar classmate approached him.
"Hey, dude! I heard you fell from upstairs, but it looks like you're totally fine!"
Chris looked at the blonde girl in front of him, racking his brain for a moment, and realized she was on the cheerleading squad. Unfortunately, the previous Chris was only interested in older women; girls his own age weren't as appealing as his internet girlfriends!
So, searching his entire mind, Chris couldn't remember the girl's name.
While Chris was in a daze, the blonde girl reached out and touched Chris's arm, exclaiming, "Chris, were you really injured? How come your arm feels so much bigger? Did you start hitting the gym or something?"
"The gym?" Chris tilted his head and looked at his arm. He did have that idea, but Lois was worried his injury hadn't healed and wouldn't let him do intense exercise.
However, he remembered the school had a weight room, and to cope with unknown dangers, a strong physique was clearly very necessary.
Having made up his mind, Chris was no longer confused, and said with determined eyes, "Just physical therapy, but I do want to start working out. Can you help me get a hall pass from the teacher?"
"What?" The blonde girl looked at Chris in confusion. She suspected she was hearing things.
Since when did cutting class require a hall pass? Had Chris actually hit his head, or was she still high? Damn it, she shouldn't have listened to Stacy, shouldn't have smoked that stuff behind the bleachers!
Chris, at this point, also clearly understood that their public school was more relaxed than a community college, with no such thing as strict attendance policies.
So his words just now didn't at all fit what a student from an American public high school should say. Fortunately, he still had a chance to play it off.
"No, never mind. I'm heading to the weight room now to work out, you wanna come?"
Looking at Chris getting up and walking out, the blonde girl paused, then shook her head and said, "Nah, I'm feeling kinda out of it, I'm gonna crash for a bit!"
"Okay! Catch you later!"
"Yeah, see ya!"
The girl lowered her head and propped it on the desk, waving a hand without even lifting her head.
