Auguro attempted to communicate with his Zanpakutō as described in the original source material. Unfortunately, there was no sign of Bankai (Final Release).
Normally, achieving Bankai required first materializing the Zanpakutō and then subduing it. However, Auguro's Zanpakutō, Gen, could not be materialized because it could transform into the shape of any other Zanpakutō, meaning it had no fixed form. Naturally, subduing a non-materialized form was impossible.

"Auguro, this is Ace!" Ace was now the acting captain of the Whitebeard Pirates. The reasons he was only "acting" were two-fold: first, the crew couldn't accept anyone other than Whitebeard as the captain, and second, Ace's strength wasn't yet strong enough to support the Yonko title.
"Ace, what's wrong?" Auguro asked, confused.
"I want to ask you about what you said regarding the temperature of the fire!" Ace's voice was quite anxious.
"That guy, Teach, is aggressively taking over Pops' territory! I've clashed with him twice and couldn't do anything against him!"
"And his subordinates are very strong. We've lost too many territories recently!"
"I have to increase my strength quickly! Otherwise, I'm letting down my late Pops!" Ace's tone was low, betraying a hint of despair.
In his clashes with Teach, the Whitebeard Pirates had suffered heavy casualties. Even a few affiliated pirate captains had been killed! If it weren't for Marco, some Division Commanders might have been killed!
Teach's Dark-Dark Fruit was a perfect counter to them as Devil Fruit Users.

"Higher-temperature flame? Are you telling me to go find magma?" Given Ace's limited knowledge, only magma had a higher temperature than his flames!
Auguro immediately rolled his eyes. Find magma? How unambitious are you! I intend for you to burn a certain Magma Man to ash! Why would you go and learn magma techniques?
"Never mind! I'll tell you something, write it down! This stuff burns much hotter than your fire and will be plenty for you to study!"
After thinking, Auguro started giving him a recipe.
"Take high-purity aluminum strips and hematite (iron oxide), grind them into powder, mix them in a 100 to 295 ratio, and then light it!"
"The temperature? It's not too high, about 2,500 degrees Celsius."
"Pffft! How much?" Ace's voice was utterly shocked. Magma was only about 1,400 degrees at most! This was over a thousand degrees hotter!
Auguro spoke with disdain.
