Chapter 207 - Who is Cegorach?

"Boss, how are you the Human Death God? You're practically the Human Lord of Change!" Sylandri Shadowseer exclaimed dramatically.

"Then I think you're the Eldar's Dark Prince," Alexander glanced at Sylandri Shadowseer.

The Harlequin was startled and quickly stepped back, making an Eldar gesture symbolizing protection towards Alexander.

"I don't want to be a Duojiao!" Sylandri Shadowseer said, "I respect them, but as for doing it myself, no thanks!"

Duojiao are unique units among the Eldar Harlequins. They are responsible for portraying the Dark Prince himself in the Harlequin's plays.

They gain immense power from this, but their souls are also marked by the Dark Prince, and after death, they can never escape the Dark Prince's maw, no matter what. Unless Cegorach's trick succeeds in luring their souls back, which is, of course, extremely difficult.

It is precisely for this reason that the Eldar both fear and respect the Duojiao.

At this point, Sylandri Shadowseer giggled, "Boss, why don't I just join you? Let's not bother with Cegorach anymore."

"You are the Human Death God, so it shouldn't be a problem for you to retrieve my soul when I die, right?"

"I don't have that ability," Alexander shook his head and said.

Although Emperor forcibly infused Alexander with some authority over the realm of erosion and destruction, he hadn't yet discovered any ability to retrieve souls.

Moreover, he didn't believe Sylandri Shadowseer would truly be loyal to him.

Even a one-eyed red Ogryn wouldn't trust a Harlequin, would he?

"Besides, if you betray Cegorach, what if he doesn't come to retrieve you?"

Sylandri Shadowseer's expression stiffened slightly, then she asked, "What if he really doesn't come?"

Hearing this, Alexander smiled, shook his pocket, and said, "Then you'll have to come in and ponder it for a bit."

Sylandri Shadowseer immediately looked more miserable than if she had died.

"Alright, quickly use your Harlequin skills and take me to find the Cogitator array in this ship," Alexander said, looking at her.

Harlequins are also one of the most famous thieving groups in the galaxy, on par with the Adeptus Mechanicus, Trazyn, and Blood Ravens.

So Alexander brought Sylandri Shadowseer along. Otherwise, how would he find anything in such a large ship?

Sylandri Shadowseer pouted, wanting to complain about Alexander's freeloading behavior.

But remembering the Lockheart Scarab inside her, she had to swallow her complaints.

"Necrons should die, no, they're already dead."

Sylandri Shadowseer mentally cursed the Necrons' non-existent mothers.

She found that the Lockheart Scarab only cared about her disrespect towards Alexander, but ignored her disrespect towards the Necrons.

So, if she couldn't curse the Human Death God, couldn't she curse the Necrons? It was all the fault of those Necron gadgets for creating such nanomachines!

While mentally cursing the Necrons, Sylandri Shadowseer guided Alexander.

Carrying the Blind Spot Star, and moving almost silently, Alexander and she traversed the massive battleship.

In a short while, Sylandri Shadowseer, relying on her Harlequin instincts, slipped into the command center of this Strike Cruiser.

This Strike Cruiser, named Blade of Glory, was filled with an anxious atmosphere.

A semi-spherical dome enveloped the entire ship's command center, displaying the situation among the stars via holographic projection in mid-air.

Warriors and crew members moved through it, roaring and shouting to evade the attacks of the Black Legion fleet. A faint, lingering scent wafted among them.

It was a mixture of sweat, the stench of recycled oxygen, the oily smell of machinery, and the metallic scent of power armor.

Everyone was nervously responding to the attacks from the stars. The Void Shield continuously flickered with violet light, resisting the attacks of the traitor fleet.

But amidst this anxiety, Alexander and Sylandri Shadowseer silently infiltrated.

They weren't invisible, yet the people around them seemed to completely ignore the two, as if every step Alexander and Sylandri Shadowseer took landed perfectly in their visual blind spots.

Alexander initially exchanged for the Blind Spot Star, attempting to use it to allow Sanguinius to move freely without being detected by the gods.

But after Sanguinius tried it, he confirmed that the Blind Spot Star couldn't achieve this.

Although the Blind Spot Star could place Sanguinius in a visual blind spot, it couldn't truly make Sanguinius an unnoticeable existence; the gods could still detect him.

If he wanted to move freely, he would at least need a Stone Hat.

It was just the price...

Alexander glanced at the price of the Stone Hat, feeling a pang in his heart.

He still had to follow the plan Sanguinius and he had made: drag Guilliman into it and use the entire resources of Ultramar to feed his four-dimensional pocket.

"Boss, there's someone in front of every Cogitator here. What do we do?" Sylandri Shadowseer whispered.

Alexander didn't answer Sylandri Shadowseer. Instead, he calmed himself slightly, slowly sinking his consciousness into this steel-forged battleship.

This was the first time Alexander had felt such a powerful machine spirit, filled with the primal impulses and roars born from steel and iron.

He could also feel that the captain of this Strike Cruiser was connected to the machine spirit through the command throne.

But Alexander could establish a deeper link directly with the machine spirit without the aid of any machinery.

He slowly extended his consciousness into it, trying not to attract the captain's attention.

Then...

Alexander tamed and controlled the massive machine spirit of this ship.

He silently issued a command to the machine spirit—

A powerful roar immediately echoed throughout the entire ship. Everyone on the ship heard the machine spirit's angry roar.

The captain, seated on the command throne, couldn't help but let out a roar. His will was overwhelmed by the machine spirit, and he fell into a brief coma.

At the same time, the Void Shield of the entire ship shone like a star. Lance batteries and macro-cannons continuously unleashed fire, and the surrounding Chaos ships were almost instantly suppressed by this Strike Cruiser.

"The machine spirit is roaring!"

The Tech-Priest on the ship quickly made a judgment. He tried to feel the machine spirit's emotions, but the machine spirit's response was only anger and resistance.

Sparks inexplicably erupted from the command console in front of the Cogitator array, scaring the crew members back a few steps.

Alexander quickly moved forward, taking advantage of the momentary chaos to place his hand on the Cogitator.

He once again used the power he acquired from the Malicious Art domain to quickly take control of the Cogitator's machine spirit.

the machine spirit cooperated fully, transmitting all information into Alexander's mind.

After retrieving what he needed, Alexander and Sylandri Shadowseer retreated using the effect of the Blind Spot Star.

At the same time, to prevent exposure, Alexander, through the machine spirit of this Strike Cruiser, directly injected a psychological suggestion into the captain's mind.

Moments later, the captain, recovering from the machine spirit's roar, clutched his head, shaking it.

He had only felt dizziness just now.

"Captain, what exactly happened?" a crew member nearby looked up and asked.

"..I don't know..." the captain said somewhat confusedly, "The machine spirit suddenly started roaring."

"Perhaps the Blade of Glory has a grudge against a nearby traitor ship?"

At least, that's what the machine spirit's emotions conveyed just now.

Alexander, with Sylandri Shadowseer, calmly exited the command center and found a deserted corridor.

He calmed himself and began to study the information he had just acquired from the Cogitator.

This information first included a star map of the entire Macragge System, marking the spaceports on each planet.

But this wasn't the main point; what Alexander truly wanted was...

Found it!

A hint of joy flashed in Alexander's eyes.

A complete map of Macragge appeared in Alexander's mind, including Hera Fortress on Mount Calth.

The natural conditions of this Ultramarines' homeworld were not outstanding; most of its area was occupied by towering mountains, and most residents could only live in the limited low-lying areas.

But the Space Marines were not restricted by this; on the towering peak called Mount Calth, lay the Ultramarines' fortress-monastery.

Alexander looked at the map in his mind, which showed the specific details of Hera Fortress.

The Ultramarines maintained their fortress-monastery much better than the Blood Angels.

This fortress, used by the Thirteenth Legion during the Great Crusade, surprisingly still had most of its areas intact and functioning normally.

Meanwhile, the Blood Angels' Angel Keep was mostly covered by yellow sand, with only the core areas remaining.

It's worth noting that as a Chapter that adheres to the Codex Astartes, the Ultramarines publicly only have a thousand Astartes, while Hera Fortress during the Great Crusade was used by hundreds of thousands of Ultramarines.

"It's actually preserved intact until now. I really don't know what they're planning. Ultramarines are indeed ambitious."

Alexander couldn't help but complain.

The entire Hera Fortress was as vast as a city, but Alexander quickly found some locations suspected to be Guilliman's Shrine within it.

These locations were blurred, indicating they were relatively important.

However, it didn't matter. Since the location couldn't be determined by the map, Alexander would go and explore it himself.

Thinking this, Alexander pulled out the anywhere door from his four-dimensional pocket.

Sylandri Shadowseer nearby leaned over curiously.

She had seen the anywhere door once before and knew it had a teleportation function, but had only witnessed it capable of short-distance teleportation.

She didn't believe this thing could teleport across planets or even star systems.

If there was such a good item, what would the Webway be for?

Then, Sylandri Shadowseer watched as Alexander slowly said to the door:

"Macragge, Hera Fortress."

Then, Alexander gently pushed open the door, and a Roman-style building appeared beyond it.

Sylandri Shadowseer's expression stiffened slightly.
