TIME: 18:45PM

LOCATION: MOUNTAIN SIDE.

The engine revved through the quiet room, raindrops hitting the roof of the car. The windshield wipers moving back and forth erasing the fog.

A low annoyed groan is heard, followed up with a long sigh.

"Oh man, why did we have to move so soon, I really enjoyed that house", a male voice says, his tone filled with annoyance.

"Oh shut up, besides who even asked for your opinion", a woman's voice responds.

The two argue on and on, until.....

"Hunter !!!!, Serena!!!!!, shut the fuck up right now before I consider driving off the clif!!" , another woman's voice says, her tone more authoritive .

Hunter and Serena immediately stop talking, places his head on the car window, watching the rain fall outside.

A road sign shines as it is illuminatef by the headlights.

'WELCOME TO DOWNSIDE VITAL!'

POPULATION:16,584.

"Downside Vital??, what a strange name for a town." Hunter says, his tone low and monotone.

"Yeah, no kidding, this is so not fair", Serena says, her annoyance evident in her voice.

The car continues driving through the rain, a never ending fog is all that can be seen. It's pure silence throughout the trip.

Until, Hunter and Serena's father breaks the silencez "Hey, why don't we listen to some music huh, tha.. .that would be fun.....right??".

He says , he sounds like his asking more than suggesting, his always been like this, but who can blame him. People like him have no say to anything in their own life .

Mom just shoot him a look, one that dared him to speak again, *say something, anything and see what happens!!!".

That's how the vibe in the car felt, not something that was unsual but still, it was there.

Hunter rested his head on the window, slowly falling asleep,"wake me up when we get there." He says, closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.

The car continues to drive off, the silence intensifie.

A few hours later, Hunter is woken up by a sharp kick to the ribs. He jolts up in pain, hitting his head against the window.

Hunter looks around and sees his sister, her foot still pressed against his ribs.

"Hey, what the hell is wrong with you, that fucking hurt!", he says, angry and sleepy.

Serene just rolls her eyes, her focus locked onto the screen of her phone." Get up, we're here dip shit." She says, her tone full of disgust and hate.

She punctuates her point by pressing her foot harder onto Hunter's side.

Hunter endures the pain and look out the front window. There hidden by the fog, a rusted sign, it's labelling faded but readable.

"Welcome to Downside Vital!"

Hunter reads out loud, his voice devoid of any bit of excitement, then he feels another sharp strike on his ribs.

Crack, Hunter winces loudly, biting his hand hard to reduce the pain.

Hunter's mom looks back at them both, "Serena don't injure your brother, he still isn't ranked yet." , she says.

Looking forward, she smiles , one filled with genuine joy, "Cozy, let's make this place our new home." She says , driving off into the town.

The drive through town is quiet and uneventful, it seemed like no one lived here, it felt like a ghost town.

But no matter how quiet it was , you could feel the stares of people. Eventually they arrive at their new home.

The delivery had already arrived, just waiting to be unpacked.

The house looked old, it looked like it was falling apart right before them.

They all got out of the car and looked at their new home, Hunter was holding his side, trying to reduce the pain.

His father just looked down, but took quick glances at the house, he then got slapped at the back of the head falling face first onto the ground.

Serena just rolled her eyes and got back into the car, "tell me when you're done unpacking." She says, not bothering to help out.

Hunter's mom steps on his dad's back, pressing her heel firmly onto his spine, "get up you dog and start unpacking, NOW!!!", she emphasizes stepping hard onto his spine.

"Hunter, help your useless father with unpacking, and don't drop anything.", she says , stepping back into the car.

Hunter wakes over to his dad and picks him up, he dusts him and begin unpacking their belongings from the van.

After hours of unpacking, we finally finish, mom and Serene enter the house, their faces contorted in disgust.

"Not bad, could be better though" mom says, spitting on the floor to prove a point.

Serene just falls onto the couch, lazing around on her phone, "hey dad, make us dinner, you piece of shit." She orders.

Hunter is too tired to do anything else, besides his ribs already hurt. So he decides to live his poor father in the hands of his sister and mother and go straight to bed.

"Fuck, I gotta take a nap, or just black out, later!" He says, looking back at his tired father before ascending the stairs.

They creek with each step he takes, each louder than the last, but that's not what's on his mind right now.

Hunter opens the door to his room, it's small and old, the wall covering peeling off , he really doesn't care.

He throws himself onto his bed, the dust from this trip lifting into the air.

Hunter slowly falls asleep, the last thing he hears is his dad getting his ass best by his mom and sister.

The morning light illuminates through the old curtains of Hunters run, he groans as he slowly gets up, the pain in his ribs slightly gone.

He looks through the window, the town looks more abandoned in the day, but then he notices a strange girl looking at him.

She seems to be around his age, she doesn't move , just stares.

"Weird." Hunter says, rubbing his head. He hears the voice of his sister call him.

"Hunter get your ass down here ...NOW!!!" She commands, her tone harsh as always.

Hunter sighs and grabs a shirt, he looks back at the girl before heading down stairs.

As he arrives, he sees his dad on the floor, cleaning some spilled soup, his bruised and beaten, quietly sobbing to himself.

Hunter's Mom is in the kitchen, drinking some coffee, "good you're up, eat, you're going to School today.", she says, her voice calmer than usual.

Both Hunter and Serene groan in unison, 'shit , not today." They both say, not wanting to attend school.
