Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

After she said that, it felt like my heart stopped for a moment, and my mind went completely blank while on the road. I knew deep down that she liked me, but hearing it out loud was something else entirely. I remembered when Rudy asked if we were dating—her cheeks were flushed, and it hit me hard: did she really like me then? I couldn't process it. After the 5 minutes of silence, I said, "Hina, I liked you too. You know, ever since that head injury, I got you to care for me, and yes, I was going to say the same thing as well. Hina, I liked you ever since I met you." After I said that, she replied,

"Tony, are you going to come back to Ruidoso?"

Yes, no worries, I will never leave my hometown, even though my real parent live in El Paso. I will never leave the thing that I loved the most, the people who care about me, my friends, and the people that I met, so I will come back soon, maybe on Saturday, "ok" she said with a soft voice then she hung up after that i start to think about what will happen if i see my parents will that want me and rudy to stay in el paso or will they want to come to ruidoso and live there who knows but for now i want to see if they will remeber me or not. While driving, we were an hour away from El Paso, and I started to get tired, but I had to stay awake. Seeing Rudy asleep made me want to fall asleep as well, but since I'm the driver, I can't pull over, so I have to push through. It's barely 7:00 PM, and I know we shouldn't have stopped at the mall for food, but I don't like to bring it up. As I drove, I began to see lights up ahead. "There it is, the city of El Paso," I said confidently. I wanted to wake Rudy, but he was out cold, so I let him sleep. Besides, it was nighttime, which made it easier for me to stay focused on the road. When we arrived in the city, I was even more beautiful than the last one, but I had to stay focused on finding my parents when we got to the hotel room.

It was pretty nice there, and they had room service, but Rudy didn't really care about that; he just wanted to try their free breakfast. I told him that he had to wake up early, and I knew that he would likely sleep in, but I would wake him up just so he could eat something at least. While we were in the room, Rudy asked what the plan was to find our parents in his notebook." I didn't know what to do. I told him that I really wasn't sure, but I was thinking of a place we could check first. Since we were in a city near the border of Mexico, we didn't even know if they could be on the other side. I couldn't let myself down, so I took a shower. When I got out, Rudy was already asleep, so I just sat down in the rolling chair and stared out at the night sky. Then I thought to myself, "Man, I made it this far, and now I can finally see my parents again. After all these years of running from the cause, I can finally stop." After I said that, I fell asleep on the chair with a smile on my face.
