The Avengers? What's that, a band?"
Tony had always been so flippant.
"I've been working to gather people with extraordinary abilities on Earth. When Earth faces an unstoppable enemy, they will be Earth's last line of defense. I call them 'Avengers'!"
Nick Fury said seriously, his thoughts drifting back to that powerful figure. It was she who defeated the alien fleet attempting to invade Earth, and it was because of her that he realized Earthlings were not alone. The universe contained countless powerful aliens, all coveting Earth. This was precisely why he wanted to form the Avengers.
"So, how many people has your 'Super Boys' organization recruited so far?"
Tony asked, somewhat curious after hearing Nick Fury's introduction.
"Uh, because the plan hasn't been officially approved yet, there are only two people."
Nick Fury felt a bit awkward saying this. After all, the plan had just been implemented. Strictly speaking, Tony was the first person he had formally invited to join, as the other two were Black Widow Natasha Romanoff and Hawkeye Barton, both S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and considered internal members.
"Two? You're relying on two people to protect Earth? I might as well go solo; I think I can protect the world myself. So, I'm not interested in your 'Super Boys' plan."
Nick Fury didn't say much when Tony rejected him so bluntly. Instead, he turned his gaze to Li Yue, who had remained silent.
"Mr. Li Yue, are you interested in joining?"
"I'll pass. You should know that my superpowers aren't really suited for combat. However, I think we could make a deal." Li Yue also declined Nick Fury's invitation.
However, he felt he could reveal some future events to Nick Fury in exchange for something useful to himself. After careful consideration, he decided that only the Cosmic Cube, or rather, the Space Stone within the Cosmic Cube, would be useful to him.
Since Li Yue had gained spatial abilities, he believed that if he wanted to enhance his powers, the Space Stone was undoubtedly the best choice.
Li Yue still didn't know how he had acquired his abilities. He didn't believe it was simply from watching a movie; there had to be something he didn't know. He was currently in the Marvel Universe, and with his current limited abilities, he didn't know when he might be killed by a villain. Even if he avoided all villains, he would still have to contend with that 50% chance in the end.
However, Li Yue's primary goal now was to first mislead Nick Fury, then persuade him to let him see the Cosmic Cube. He wanted to test whether the Space Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones in the Marvel Universe, could truly enhance his strength… "I believe both Tony and S.H.I.E.L.D. are very curious about my origins. Indeed, I am not from this world!"
"So you're from another planet? An alien? And how did you get to Earth?!" Before Li Yue could continue, Tony eagerly interrupted him with questions. He had long wanted to know about Li Yue's situation, but since Li Yue hadn't brought it up, he hadn't felt comfortable asking directly.
"Tony, could you please not interrupt me? Let me finish. When I say I'm not from this world, it doesn't mean I'm from outer space. I am also an Earthling, but I come from Earth in another universe. You must be familiar with the multiverse, right?"
Li Yue felt a bit helpless seeing Tony eagerly interrupt him before he could finish speaking.
"So you're saying you're from Earth in some universe within the multiverse, is that it? But that's incredibly hard to believe. You know, the multiverse is still just a theory; no one has ever proven that a multiverse truly exists. I have to say, it makes me feel a bit… absurd."
As a scientist, Tony, though not a specialist in this field, was familiar with the multiverse theory. However, he had never heard of anyone proving its existence. Hearing it for the first time, he couldn't help but be somewhat incredulous.
"Regardless of whether you truly come from a multiverse, I'm afraid you'll have to explain how you arrived on our Earth, and what your purpose is here!"
Nick Fury didn't dwell on the existence of the multiverse; instead, he directly asked Li Yue about his purpose for coming to Earth.
Nick Fury had always considered protecting Earth's safety his most important duty. In fact, when he first discovered Li Yue, he had wanted to send people to capture and interrogate him, but he wasn't confident he could control Li Yue. If Li Yue wanted to escape, no one could stop him… "Where should we begin… Let's start with the situation on Earth in my universe. Unlike this Earth, our universe's Earth not only has humans but also a special kind of human called mutants. Like me, mutants all possess one or more superpowers."
"For example, there are those who can read and control minds, those who can change their physical appearance, those who can shoot lasers from their eyes, those who can instantly recover from injuries… and so on. Oh, and there's also Tony's nemesis, someone who can control metal and magnetic fields."
Li Yue watched Tony's face turn instantly ashen after he finished speaking, then continued, "The abilities of mutants are countless. Some are rather useless, while others are extremely powerful, powerful enough to destroy Earth. It was because a powerful mutant lost control and destroyed all life on Earth that, under the threat of death, I forcefully used my ability to try and traverse space. I eventually lost consciousness and woke up on this Earth."
Nick Fury and Tony listened to Li Yue's words and fell into silent contemplation. After a while, Nick Fury was the first to speak.
"I don't know if what you've said is true, and I have no way to verify it. For now, let's assume it is. However, if you wish to reside on Earth, you must abide by its laws. S.H.I.E.L.D. has the right to monitor you to prevent you from doing anything that harms Earth's interests."
"Alright, alright, you're just saying that on your turf, everyone has to listen to you, right? I agree." Li Yue increasingly felt that his strength was still too weak. If he had Superman's power, he wouldn't be wasting words with them; he'd be doing whatever he pleased.
Seeing Li Yue agree, Nick Fury continued, "Since you've agreed, let's talk about the deal you just mentioned. What is it?"
"The deal I mentioned is that I'll exchange some information with you for some things," Li Yue replied to Nick Fury.
"Information? What kind of information? I think S.H.I.E.L.D.'s intelligence department, even if not the best in the world, can easily find whatever it needs. What information do you plan to trade with us?" Nick Fury found Li Yue's words somewhat unbelievable. Does S.H.I.E.L.D. really need you to provide information? We've been monitoring you for so many days without finding anything, and you still have the nerve to talk about information.
Of course, Nick Fury didn't say this aloud; he only thought it to himself. It was a good thing he didn't say it, because if Li Yue knew Nick Fury's thoughts, he might have given him a solid punch to that dark face to vent his anger.
"For example, how about this news: Captain America is still alive?" Li Yue immediately dropped a bombshell.
