The light around had already dimmed.
He tilted his head back, squinting as he carefully examined the large hole in the tree trunk.
The entrance was about half a human's height, deeply embedded in the thick ancient tree.
"Let's sleep here tonight."
He said softly.
"It's dry inside, and there are no bugs. It's much better than sleeping outside."
With a leap, he agilely jumped onto the thick tree trunk over two meters high.
After steadying himself, he reached into the tree hole and pulled out the accumulated dead grass, tossing it to the ground below.
Then he peered in, feeling the inner wall with his hand.
"It's fairly clean."
He muttered, before jumping back to the ground.
"Come on up."
He looked up at Seraphina Caldwell.
"We have to leave early tomorrow, aiming to reach The Beast Realm before dark. If we delay another day, who knows what might happen."
After speaking, he stepped back and held out his hands to her, palms up.
"Alas, you're too heavy for me to carry up."
