He knew she had changed, and also understood that he might never be able to enter her world again.
He paused for a moment, finally choosing to switch topics, his tone intentionally more relaxed.
"This afternoon... Did Elara Joyce come to see you?"

She was silent for a moment, then gently nodded, her voice so low it was barely audible.
"Yes."
Vivian Prescott noticed her tension, his Adam's apple moved slightly, and his tone became a bit more serious.
"I broke up with her, it has nothing to do with that phone call. Don't overthink it."
Vivian Sinclair pressed her lips together, her nails leaving faint crescent marks on her palm.
She stared at the corner of the table, her gaze empty and hollow.
After a long time, she slowly began to speak, her voice unnaturally calm.
"I understand, it's between you and her. I won't interfere."
