  "Wow, it smells so good."

"You're awake. Shirou-kun has made soup for you all."

"Wow, that's great! I'm so tired of Mia's mom's breakfast. Hey... Mia's mom, when did you arrive...?"

  "By the way, where's Anya?"

"Because he stole fish, Mia's mother hung him on the clothesline."

  "Shirou isn't here either."

"Shirou-kun went to his clan early this morning; it seems he has a lot of work to do today."

  "I will cheer for Shirou-kun."

The "Abundant Mistress" tavern was still noisy in the morning, with girls chatting and eating breakfast.

Shirou certainly couldn't cook for everyone, but he could easily make a pot of miso soup before leaving, since all the ingredients were readily available.

He feels an extraordinary sense of peace when doing housework and cooking, a state that is perfect for organizing his day's plans.

"Ryu, Shirou-kun's cooking is indeed excellent."

"Hmm... I want to keep eating Shirou's miso soup from now on," the elf girl whispered.

The surroundings fell silent for a moment.

Girl A whispered, "Is this a marriage proposal?"

  Girl B: "It's a marriage proposal."

  Girl C: "It's a pity Shirou-kun isn't here~"

Seele gently patted Ryu's shoulder: "Ryu-chan, you should be a little more careful about how you speak in the future."

  Liu tilted her head: "?"

The "useless fairy" in "The Abundant Mistress" once again demonstrates her lack of social skills.

  "Achoo!" Shirou touched his nose.

"Do you have a cold, or is someone talking about you?"

  "It shouldn't be..."

At this moment, they are in Tsubaki's workshop, where Shirou is learning forging from the very basics.

Nursing, repair, polishing, recycling... you need to understand these things first in order to lay the foundation for becoming an excellent blacksmith.

Tsubaki's workshop is very large. As the strongest blacksmith in the Familia and also the strongest blacksmith in the city, her workshop occupies an entire floor of a building. Including Shirou, she has six assistants, three of whom are Level 2 blacksmiths.

The Hephaestus Familia has a semi-monopoly on the city's market in equipment production and manufacturing, and the competition within the family is fierce. Basically, only craftsmen who have reached Lv.2 and have the development ability [Forging] can have their excellent works adorned with the Familia's crest and sold in the directly operated stores.

Works that don't reach this level either end up in lower-level shops or are sold at a low price to the Adventurers' Guild by the way, the guild seems to often trick new adventurers into buying inferior equipment at high prices, but that's the guild's problem.

Some craftsmen painstakingly reached Lv.2, but did not gain the ability to develop [Forging]. Even joining a top-tier familia doesn't guarantee a smooth and easy path. Among top-tier familias like Freya and Loki's, there are examples of those who joined with high spirits and ambition but ended up as lowly gatekeepers.

However, Shirou was able to enter Tsubaki's workshop as an assistant from the very beginning, which already put him at a higher starting point than everyone else.

"Shirou-kun learns so fast! It's unbelievable that a beginner can repair a broken knife so well," Tsubaki exclaimed. "He's practically a born blacksmith!"

And that is indeed the case. Anya and the others thought Shirou had a talent for fighting, but that was actually a lie, the result of cheating. Shirou had accumulated enough training and combat experience in his previous life, which is why he seemed to have fighting talent.

In reality, Shirou's combat skills outside of swordsmanship and archery are only those of an average person. It is only because he has a deep understanding of what it looks like when an average person's martial arts reach their limit that people mistakenly believe he has talent.

However, forging was different. He had never been involved in blacksmithing in his previous life, but the moment he came to the bellows, he displayed extraordinary talent.

The quality of materials can be understood with a light touch; the model of equipment can be constructed in the mind with a glance; the state of the furnace can be confirmed by feeling alone.

Hephaestus was indeed a discerning eye; Shirou Emiya was a born blacksmith. It would be a waste if his talent didn't join the kin of the Goddess of Forging. In terms of forging alone, Emiya's talent was among the best in the lower realms.

Tsubaki thought so too. Even without considering the magic [Unlimited Blade Works], Shirou Emiya's forging talent was no less than hers. So after Shirou finished polishing a longsword, she simply invited him to help check the blueprints of the magic sword and see if he could provide her with some ideas.

Emiya carefully studied the blueprints, and then used magic.

  "Projection, begin (Trace on)."

A "demon sword" appeared in his hand. Of course, it did not contain the explosive magic power of a demon sword, and its material was only a simulation of ordinary iron.

However, the shape and structure are completely consistent with the finished product. This is a model that Shirou constructed in his mind based on the blueprints of the Demon Sword.

Tsubaki stared intently at the demonic sword in Shirou's hand, and after a moment, she let out a sound of sudden realization.

  "I see!"

"There's a problem with the blueprint. The inscriptions at the connection points are too thin, which causes problems when the magic power transmission reaches its maximum. They should be thickened." Chun immediately pounced on the blueprint and started sketching.

Blueprints and real objects are completely different things. Some things may seem reasonable on blueprints, but problems can be easily found in the actual creation.

"But if we thicken it, won't it cause magic leakage, reducing the magic sword's storage life..." Chun muttered to herself.

"How about adding a conductive inscription? Two circuits in parallel, increasing the flow rate while maintaining the aperture of a single circuit, like this, Shirou "

"I understand," Shirou said. "Projection begins (Trace, on)."

A new sword appeared in his hand.

"That should solve the problem. Wait, there's still a slight issue. If the magic transmission power is too high, will it cause interference... How about widening and thickening the sword blade, like this?" Chun revised the blueprints again.

"Projection begins (Trace, on)." Shirou also projected again.

"Wouldn't that be too wasteful of materials? For this volume, the material used is 1.5 times that of the original. Hmm... how about this, hollow out the middle?"

  "Projection begins (Trace, on)."

"Okay, this saves on materials, but forging a hollowed-out magic sword is too difficult."

"Let's just increase the power. As long as the power is worth the materials, it's not a waste, like this." Emiya suggested, "Projection begins (Trace, on)."

"Oh, that's a good idea." Tsubaki nodded. "If we add more ingredients here, the power can be increased even more."

  "Projection begins (Trace, on)"

Change the shape of the magic sword to accommodate more materials.

  "Trace, on."

  Increase the length further.

  "Trace, on."

Upgrade materials and add more magic stones.

  "Trace, on."

Tsubaki and Shirou remained immersed in their own world until...

  "I feel a little dizzy..."

Emiya's magical energy has been overused.

Because they were looking at the blueprints, they had a thorough understanding of the structure of the projected object, and since it was a sword, the projection consumed very little magic power.

However, if it happens too often, it will accumulate over time, especially since Shirou's stats aren't very high right now.

If it weren't for my strong willpower, I probably wouldn't have been able to withstand it long ago.

If his magic power is completely depleted, he will faint completely, and Shirou is on the verge of that.

"Sister Chun, I'm going to rest for a while."

Emiya leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.

Tsubaki looked down at Shirou's face, while also glancing at the "finished product" they had decided on together on the table.

After a brainstorming session, the original drawings were not entirely unrelated, but at least completely different.

Change a little here, a little there, change the shape, change the length, change the blade, change the hilt, and in the end even change the attributes.

"This shape is more suitable for lightning attributes, so let's just change it to a lightning magic sword."

The original design was for a flaming magic sword.

The Flame Demon Sword, once activated, unleashes powerful lightning magic...

"Since the blade is spiral-shaped, let's call it the Spiral Sword. Shirou-kun, I will inscribe both our names on this demonic sword."

Yes, this is our first work.

"I'll leave the rest of the forging to my older sister!"

The projection Shirou showed was just a sample for reference; the real demon sword still needed the blacksmith's dedicated craftsmanship.

A flame of passion ignited in Chun's eyes.

The significance of Unlimited Blade Works to a blacksmith is immense. Tsubaki has a premonition that, with Shirou's help, she will be able to achieve her long-held ambition.

Forge a weapon that surpasses even the realm of gods!
