Chapter 8 - The Black Ascendant

---

PART I — The Demon That Refused to Die

Sector 40 was quiet now—

A graveyard of steel, frost, and scorched earth.

Under the moonlight, broken rubble shifted.

Something beneath it twitched… then rose.

A skeletal hand burst upward.

Then another.

Then Zenn, the A-class bone demon, pulled himself out of the ruins.

His body was a mangled corpse.

His bone tentacles were crushed.

His blue hair was soaked in ash.

He should have been dead.

Instead… he began to evolve.

---

🔥 The Metamorphosis

A pulse surged through his body—like a second heart awakening.

Zenn screamed as his bones cracked and reformed.

The tentacles on his back regenerated, thicker, denser, glowing faintly with pale blue sigils.

His muscles tightened like steel cords under his skin.

His regeneration accelerated beyond A-class limits.

His speed tripled, surpassing anything human or demon alike.

Then his eyes—

both glowed an icy ultramarine…

And a third eye opened on his forehead.

But this eye was different.

It bore a swirling symbol—a rune no demon living or dead had ever displayed.

Zenn stared at his reflection in a shard of metal.

> "What… am I becoming?"

There was no answer.

But he felt it.

A storm of power.

A pull toward dominance.

A hunger for command.

And a whisper in the back of his mind:

Rise.

Zenn exhaled, vapor curling around his fangs.

> "I understand.

An uprising… guided by me."

He had become S-class.

A calamity in humanoid form.

He would need generals.

---

PART II — The Six Who Bowed

In the silent wasteland north of Sector 41, in an abandoned railway station buried by sand, Zenn gathered them.

The strongest A-class demons still alive.

They knelt—or stood—around him in a half-circle, each radiating power.

---

1) Emmu — The Nightmare Crafter

A tall, slender demon with one enormous central eye—

but two swirling irises inside it.

His voice was deep and haunting.

> Emmu: "Your call echoes through fear itself. Why have you summoned me, Zenn the Ascendant?"

Zenn's third eye glowed faintly.

> Zenn: "Fear bends to you. But leadership does not. I require your power… and your obedience."

Emmu gave a slow nod.

> Emmu: "If it is fear you wish to unleash upon humanity…

I shall open every locked nightmare inside their minds."

---

2) Stag — The Roar of Ruin

A towering reindeer-like demon, with molten cracks along its antlers.

It stomped the ground once, sending dust flying.

> Zenn: "Stag. Strongest of the sonic beasts. Will you answer my call?"

The massive creature dipped its head—unable to speak, but its understanding clear.

---

3) Krox — The Iron Horn

Seven feet tall, built like a walking fortress.

Metallic skin.

Twin horns crackling with stored energy.

He crossed his arms.

> Krox: "I heard you died."

Zenn: "I surpassed death."

Krox: "Then… I will follow the strongest."

He knelt on one knee, iron skin scraping the floor.

---

4) Mara — The Vengeful Gorgon

Sister of Mira.

Her serpentine eyes shimmered pink with grief—and wrath.

> Mara: "My sister fell… at the hands of the humans.

You promise war?

Then I am yours."

Zenn smiled.

> Zenn: "Vengeance will be your feast."

---

5) Vemmiz — The Storm Runner

A four-legged lightning demon, its body flickering with arcs of electricity.

It paced quickly, too fast for the others' eyes to track.

It stopped only when Zenn spoke.

> Zenn: "Fastest among them. With you… no human line will hold."

Vemmiz let out a guttural static-laced growl.

A sound of acceptance.

---

6) Amir — The Iron-Claw Strategist

Black fur.

Long claws of metal.

Eyes sharp with intelligence.

Behind him, dozens of monkey-like demons waited—his personal legion.

Amir bowed deeply.

> Amir: "Master Zenn.

I foresaw your return.

A being of dual affinity becoming S-class…

You are the future of our kind."

Zenn's third eye flickered.

> Zenn: "You will be my mind.

My strategist.

My favorite."

Amir smiled with wicked pride.

---

⚔️ The Plan

The demons formed a circle around Zenn.

He spoke, voice echoing with newfound power.

> Zenn:

"Humanity hides behind iron and blue rose.

They believe themselves safe.

They are wrong."

He raised a bone spear, grown from his own arm.

> Zenn:

"We will attack not where they defend…

but where they fear.

Their minds.

Their families.

Their foundations."

Emmu's two irises swirled.

> Emmu: "I can project nightmares into entire districts."

Mara's snakes hissed.

> Mara: "I can infiltrate their cities unnoticed."

Krox cracked his knuckles.

> Krox: "I will break their barracks."

Stag stomped again, the air vibrating.

> Amir:

"And I… will reshape the tactical map.

Piece by piece.

They shall lose ground before the war even begins."

Zenn smiled—three-eyed and terrible.

> Zenn: "The uprising begins soon.

For now… we wait.

We prepare.

And then… we strike."

---

PART III — The Beast Beneath Sector 59

Far away, in Sector 59—

The earth convulsed.

And then it split open.

A titanic worm burst upward—

chitin armor glistening black,

mouth a ring of acid-dripping fangs.

Ragnar Vermis.

S-Class.

A Calamity.

It surged across the land like a living earthquake.

---

💥 The Rampage

The ground bulged before it moved, then erupted entirely as Ragnar Vermis tunneled under buildings, swallowing them whole.

Entire roads collapsed.

Cars vanished into chasms.

People screamed and ran in every direction.

A freight train tried to outrun it—

The worm burst from beneath, snapping the train in half with a single bite.

Its acid breath melted a watchtower instantly.

A military drone squad fired…

The shots bounced harmlessly off its armor.

It burrowed, reappeared, burrowed again—

A nightmare that could appear anywhere, from any angle, without warning.

Hundreds fled toward evac shelters.

Others hid under debris.

Some froze, staring in horror as the worm devoured everything in sight.

It wasn't hunting.

It was simply destroying.

---

PART IV — Iron Veil: Full Alarm

Inside Iron Veil HQ, alarms blared violently.

RED ALERT.

S-CLASS THREAT DETECTED.

SECTOR 59 BREACH.

Slayers sprinted across corridors.

Engineers armed drones.

Medics prepared trauma units.

Commanders barked orders into comms.

Even the Legendary Slayers looked shaken:

Lady Eve tightened the straps on her twin katanas.

Samurai loaded a new cartridge into his rail rifle.

Captain Lin donned her armored command suit.

Teams Omega, Valkyrie, and Shieldwall armed up.

The hangar filled with roar of engines.

---

⚙️ Trainees Pulled Into Duty

Aiden and the cadets felt the tremors as the alert hit their barracks.

Aiden's blood ran cold.

> Aiden: "An S-class… alive?"

Fushiguro grabbed his drone pack.

> Fushiguro: "We're not fighting… right?"

Adolf (nervous laugh): "Hope not. But they need bodies to evacuate civilians."

Captain Lin stormed in.

> Lin: "Cadets! Gear up for evacuation duty!

This is not a drill—this is war."

Their hearts pounded, but they obeyed.

---

⚔️ The Director leads the charge

Helena Voss, Director of the Iron Veil—

Usually calm.

Usually distant.

Tonight she wore full battle armor—

a rarity that filled the entire base with tension.

> Director Voss:

"Ragnar Vermis is moving toward inhabited zones.

We intercept at Sector 59.

Trainees: assist medics and evacuators.

Slayers: prepare for full deployment."

The hangar doors opened.

Engines ignited.

The night sky turned blue with thruster fire.

Aiden looked up at the aircraft leaving the hangar:

> "This is it," he whispered.

"The world is changing… and so are we."

Fushiguro nodded.

Adolf cracked his knuckles.

The Iron Veil launched toward Sector 59.

Behind them, in the shadows, Zenn smiled quietly…

> "Perfect. Let them exhaust themselves.

The uprising begins soon."
