Harper had woken up early to do the laundry, it was a Saturday morning, and the day James had promised to teach me how to play...…a VIDEO GAME.
"What a bright morning", my brother yawned, as he came out of his room,
"I feel like I could eat a hundred pancake…", he was saying but stopped when he saw me waiting on the stairs for him.
"O, good morning Ben…"
"Does it look like am having a good morning, brother?!", I said while twitching my eyes.
"Benjamin, did you get any sleep?", he asked noticing the manner at which I responded,
"O yes, I slept like a baby"
"Really"
"NO, I DID NOT", I yelled at him.
"Do you know the amount of pressure I felt when you announced to me that I would begin my rigorous training today, I literally felt like travelling in time, to this very moment?"
"Okay"
"Never mind all my problems, I might have been standing here for an hour, waiting for you, but that doesn't matter now does it? I AM READY FOR MY VIDEO GAME TRAINING", I said to him with a straight face. He was quiet for a while before resulting to a chuckle.
"What….?!", I shouted in shock
"Why are you laughing?", I asked furiously.
"Sorry john, but did you honestly think we would do this so early in the morning?", he asked, this question made me regret deciding not to sleep, I felt like a loser.
"Hey, don't feel so down. What if I teach you how to play a video game when you are done with all your chores, what about that?", James smiled and said. His statement made me hold on to hope a little longer.
"I promise to finish my chores!!", I shouted and gave a big smile.
"Good"
"James, what are my chores?", I asked blankly looking at James.
I went back to my bedroom following the instructions that James had given me.
"Find everything that is mine and arrange them, if they are dirty, take them down to the laundry room", I said to myself repeating what James had told me.
"Now I just have to .....arrange", I said amidst yawning, I was falling off balance so I sat on the bed, but that was the biggest mistake I made that day, as my drowsiness got the better of me, and I fell asleep.
"I PROMISE!!", I yelled as I jumped out of bed only to discover that I was sleeping instead of working.
"Good thing I didn't sleep that long", I smiled as I tried to find my wall clock.
"3pm, how is this possible!", I ran out of my room to meet James playing video games on our large flat screen TV downstairs.
"James, why didn't you wake me?", I asked him.
"Everyone needs their sleep", my brother smiled and said.
"Now how can I possibly finish all my chores before dinner", I sighed in frustration.
"It's never too late buddy",
"You are right". I hurried back into my room. I worked my butts off that day arranging everything that belonged to me around the house. I picked up my toys, arranged my books, and swept my room, I did everything I needed to do, but only one ting remained. "Doing laundry". I shoved all my clothes into the washing machine, hoping it would take a minute or two to wash, but to my greatest surprise the estimated time for my clothes to be full washed was "2 HOURS". I felt like my whole world had gone crumbling down.
"This can't be", I thought while shaking my head in disbelieve, the time was already 5pm in the evening, in three hours, I would have to go to bed.
I scratched my head thinking of a way, of shortcut to doing the laundry.
"DING", I had a brilliant idea, an idea that would take out all the stress, and all the work in need to put in, an idea that would guarantee I start my training that evening.
"Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, I have been I good boy, please teach me how to play a video game", I begged with tears almost popping out of my eyes. My brother froze staring at me in amusement.
"Benjamin, ha-ha", he laughed and laughed.
"Okay, I will teach you, as long as your clothes are already being washed by the washing machine.
"Yes sir!", I confirmed with a salute.
"Then come sit here", He smiled and signaled for me to sit beside him on the sofa. That was how I began my rigorous training.
