"I, uh... I actually have absolutely no idea how to get out."
The morning breeze blew quietly across the Sainan High school roof, making the silence that followed Oshizu's confession feel incredibly heavy.
"Haruna" stood there, sweating nervously. She reached up, grabbing Haruna's soft cheeks and pulling them outward in a desperate attempt to physically separate herself from the body.
Streeeetch.
"Nnnngh! Come on! Get out!" Oshizu grunted, hopping up and down. "Eject! Un-possess! Leave! Why isn't it working?!"
Creak.
Before Rito could offer a suggestion, the door leading to the stairwell swung open. Rito and Oshizu both snapped their heads toward the sound.
"I'm telling you, she came up here!" a familiar, bossy voice echoed.
Risa stepped out onto the roof, followed closely by Mio and a cheerful Lala. The three of them had obviously been following Haruna since the chaotic groping incident in the courtyard.
"Haruna!" Risa marched forward, planting her hands on her hips. "What has gotten into you this morning?! First, you grope me—not that I mind it—but then Mio, then Kotegawa?! You're acting like a totally different person!"
"Haruna-chan... are you feeling sick?" Mio asked, peering at her friend with deep concern.
Lala simply tilted her head, her bright green eyes studying Haruna closely. "Wow, Haruna-chan's energy feels really weird right now!"
Oshizu froze. She looked at the three girls, then looked over at Rito in a complete panic. Realizing the jig was entirely up, she dropped her hands from her face and slumped her shoulders in defeat.
"Ah, man... I'm really sorry," Oshizu sighed, her voice taking on that slightly lower, tomboyish pitch again. She gave them a sheepish, apologetic bow. "I'm not actually Haruna."
Risa and Mio blinked. "Huh?"
"It's me, Oshizu," she explained, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. "Remember me? I'm the ghost from the old school building. I was just floating around outside to look at the sky, but a stray dog started barking at me! I panicked and accidentally jumped straight into her body!"
"E-EHHHH?!" Mio shrieked. "The ghost?!"
"You're possessing her?!" Risa yelled, her eyes widening in disbelief. "Get out of her right now!"
"I'm trying! But I'm completely stuck!" Oshizu wailed, looking genuinely distressed. "I just wanted to see the outside world for a little bit!"
"Oh! A spiritual fusion!" Lala gasped, her eyes practically sparkling with fascination. "That's amazing! On Deviluke, we have energy parasites, but I've never seen an Earth ghost merge with a living human before!"
"That's not the point here!" Risa snapped, waving her hands frantically. "Maybe we should take her to Dr. Mikado…?"
"Yeah, she might know what to do!" Mio agreed, nodding quickly.
While Lala marvelled at the alien-like concept and Risa and Mio thought about solutions, Rito crossed his arms, his expression turning incredibly serious.
Rito closed his eyes, instantly diving into his repository of future memories. He needed to find out how this was resolved in the original canon timeline.
'Think...' Rito commanded himself, mentally flipping through the events. 'After this happened... right. We took her to Dr. Mikado.'
The memory surfaced vividly. He remembered them standing in the school clinic, watching Mikado examine Haruna's body. Mikado's exact warnings echoed clearly in his mind.
"There isn't much that medical science can do for a ghost," the doctor had said, adjusting her glasses. "Even for me, spirits are an unknown area. Ghosts give off a completely different wavelength than living beings..."
Rito frowned deeply, his eyes still closed. The next part of the memory was the most crucial.
"If you don't find a way to separate them soon," Mikado had warned with a grave expression, "Haruna's own consciousness might completely disappear. She will be erased."
Rito's eyes snapped open, a jolt of genuine fear spiking in his chest. They couldn't just wait this out. He had to act immediately. He recalled the canon solution: they needed to deliver a massive shock to Haruna's body, something strong enough to jolt her dormant consciousness awake so she would instinctively force Oshizu out.
'A massive physical and mental shock...' Rito thought, analyzing the situation. 'Something that will instantly wake Haruna's body up and override Oshizu's control.'
Suddenly, his brain supplied the answer. He thought about Haruna's true nature. He thought about how insanely sensitive she was to his touch, how her body would melt and flood with intense, uncontrollable lust the moment he got intimate with her.
Rito's train of thought crashed.
Poof!
A brilliant, burning shade of crimson exploded across Rito's face. Steam practically erupted from his ears, his heart suddenly hammering violently against his ribs.
Thump-thump-thump!
"W-Whoa," Rito gasped quietly, covering his mouth with the back of his hand as his imagination vividly supplied exactly what kind of 'shock' he needed to deliver.
"Rito?" Risa noticed his sudden, dramatic change in demeanour. She raised an eyebrow, pointing an accusing finger at him. "Why is your face suddenly so red? Did you figure something out, or are you just thinking about something perverted?!"
"I-I figured something out!" Rito stammered defensively, his voice cracking slightly. He lowered his hand, though his face was still incredibly flushed.
"Really? What is it, Rito~?" Lala asked cheerfully, stepping closer to him.
"W-Well..." Rito gulped, his eyes darting around the open rooftop nervously. "I think Dr. Mikado wouldn't be able to help. After all, medicine doesn't work on ghosts. If Oshizu-san stays in there too long, Haruna's consciousness might disappear forever."
"Disappear?!" Mio gasped, covering her mouth in horror.
"Right. So, we have to force Oshizu out," Rito explained, trying to keep his voice steady despite his racing heart. "We might have to deliver a massive shock to Haruna. Something so intense that it jolts Haruna awake from the inside, forcing Oshizu out instinctively."
"A massive shock?" Risa repeated, crossing her arms. "Like... scaring her? Or splashing cold water on her?"
"N-No," Rito swallowed hard, the blush returning with full force. "It has to be... stronger than that. A-and deeper."
"How are you going to do that?" Mio asked innocently.
Rito felt like he was going to spontaneously combust. He looked around the roof, ensuring the door was closed and no teachers were nearby. He then leaned in close, motioning for Lala, Risa, and Mio to huddle together.
"I-I have to..." Rito leaned his head in and whispered directly into their ears, telling them exactly what the fastest and safest way was to deliver a massive, system-overriding shock to her body.
The reaction was instantaneous.
"Y-Y-You!!" Risa shrieked, jumping back three feet. "Right here?! To Haruna while she's—! Are you insane?!"
"H-Hyaaaaa!" Mio squeaked, covering her flushed face with both hands.
"Oh! That's a great idea, Rito!" Lala beamed, clapping her hands together happily, completely unfazed by the lewdness. "Haruna-chan gets really sensitive when you do that!"
Standing a few feet away, Oshizu was looking back and forth between them, completely confused.
"Hey! What are you guys whispering about?!" Oshizu demanded, taking a step forward. Her expression turned desperate. "Please, Rito-kun! What do we have to do? Tell me! I'll do whatever it takes! I really don't want Haruna to disappear because of my mistake!"
Rito turned to face her. His chest was heaving. He was stammering slightly, and his face was still painted with immense embarrassment at the thought of doing something to Haruna's body while Oshizu was inside her.
Though, in the back of his mind, his honest nature flared. He was also a little thrilled by the idea. The taboo of doing her on the open rooftop, added to the fact that Risa, Mio, and Lala were present as both an audience and guards to keep an eye out for approaching teachers, sent a wild jolt of anticipation straight to his core.
Also, Haruna's life was on the line, and he loved her too much to let his embarrassment get in the way. He took a deep breath, pushing his fear down, and stepped forward until he was right in front of her.
"R-Rito-kun?" Oshizu blinked, intimidated by his sudden proximity.
"Oshizu-san," Rito said, looking her dead in the eye, his voice slightly raspy but incredibly sincere. "The only way to save Haruna is to completely overwhelm her body's senses. I have to wake her up doing that."
He didn't look away. He didn't flinch.
"So," Rito declared bravely, his hands reaching for the hem of his uniform, "I'm going to have sex with you right here, right now."
And with that, right in front of Lala, Risa, and Mio, Rito slowly began unbuttoning his shirt.
