Chapter 7: Sunflower Love Returns
Metropolis.
Several days had passed since the confrontation between Transition and Sunflower Love.
Lily Yarn—better known as Sunflower Love—had survived her previous encounter with Derek.
But she hadn't forgotten him.
She wanted revenge.
Tonight, she found him.
Derek was walking through a quiet section of Metropolis, completely unaware that Lily was watching him from a nearby rooftop.
She raised her hand.
Several glowing pink arrows appeared around her.
Her power was dangerous.
Anyone struck by one of her Love Arrows would become completely obedient to her.
Lily smiled.
Sunflower Love: "This time, you won't get away."
She aimed directly at Derek's back.
WHOOSH!
The arrows flew toward him.
But just before they reached Derek—
POP!
They disappeared.
Lily's smile vanished.
The arrows suddenly reappeared in Derek's hand.
He hadn't even turned around.
Sunflower Love: "What?!"
Derek slowly looked at the arrows.
Then he looked behind himself.
His expression changed.
Transition: "You're still alive."
Lily stepped out from the shadows.
Sunflower Love: "I told you I'd defeat you one day."
Derek stared at her.
Transition: "The only reason I didn't make sure you died last time…"
He looked at her calmly.
Transition: "…is because you're pretty."
Lily's face became angry.
Sunflower Love: "You—"
Derek raised one of the arrows.
Transition: "But don't push your luck."
The pink glow around the arrow suddenly disappeared.
The magical Love Arrow transformed into an ordinary-looking arrow.
Lily's eyes widened.
Sunflower Love: "What are you doing?"
Derek smiled.
Transition.
The arrow vanished from his hand.
Lily suddenly found herself unable to move away in time.
The arrow appeared against her, and she was knocked violently to the ground.
She cried out and dropped her remaining arrows.
Derek walked toward her.
Lily struggled to move.
A small amount of blood was visible from her injury.
She looked at Derek with disbelief.
Sunflower Love: "Why...?"
Derek looked down at her.
Transition: "You keep coming back."
He paused.
Transition: "That's your mistake."
Lily tried to raise her hand.
A faint pink glow appeared.
Derek immediately stopped it by transitioning the energy away.
Her power disappeared.
Derek looked at her blood.
Then he gave a cold smile.
Transition: "Beautiful girls' blood is always red…"
He looked at the pink symbols scattered across the ground.
Transition: "…despite you liking pink."
Lily's eyes closed.
She was defeated.
Derek turned away.
He didn't celebrate.
He simply continued walking through Metropolis.
Behind him, Sunflower Love remained motionless on the ground.
For the second time, she had challenged Transition.
And once again, she had learned the same lesson:
Against Transition, attacking first didn't necessarily mean you controlled the fight.
Derek disappeared.
Transition.
