Chapter 1 - Weaver

In the boundless, starlit expanse of the cosmos, a seemingly ordinary young man in plain grey robes strolled casually through space. It looked as though he were simply stepping through empty air, yet upon closer observation, one would notice the truth — with every step he took, the space around him shifted imperceptibly, and the distant cosmic bodies changed position.

He was, in fact, crossing hundreds of light-years with each stride.

His speed was that great.

Despite the brilliance of such a feat, there was no hint of exhaustion on his face, not even a drop of sweat on his brow. He sighed audibly into the quiet void, and that simple exhalation caused nearby solar systems to tremble and shift.

"Why does her residence have to be so far away?" he muttered, still taking those casual steps. "I've been walking for ten minutes now, and still no sign of that planet of hers."

One could only wonder how far such a being had traveled in that span of time.

The young man's appearance was as enigmatic as it was striking — handsome, otherworldly, and suffused with quiet confidence. His sharp, defined jawline contrasted with the soft elegance of his features. Long amethyst hair flowed down his back, its ends flickering with subtle violet flames. His lean, well-built frame radiated power even beneath the plain robe, and at six foot seven, his very presence seemed to command the space around him. A mere glimpse of him would have been enough to make any mortal swoon.

After a few more moments, he came to a stop, suspended high above a completely black planet.

"Good thing she's here," he said softly.

His body flickered — and in the next instant, he vanished from the spot without leaving even the faintest trace of his presence.

When he appeared on the planet, the environment was not nearly as bleak as it had seemed from above. Despite there being no sun to light the world, the landscape glowed faintly — illuminated by some mysterious, unseen source.

The mountains shimmered with soft silver hues, and rivers of light coursed through valleys like veins of living energy. Though cloaked in eternal night, the entire realm shone with an ethereal radiance, serene and beautiful in its quiet mystery.

He reappeared in a simple yet elegant home atop a mountain, its curved roof edges turned upward in graceful arcs. The wooden beams gleamed faintly in the starlight. Sliding the door open, he removed his shoes and stepped inside.

His gaze immediately fell upon a beautiful, white-haired woman sitting in a lotus position on a mat, eyes closed in deep meditation. Her ears were long and pointed, and her serene aura filled the room. As soon as he entered, she opened her eyes — one a piercing blue, the other a deep crimson.

"Weaver," she said coolly. "What do you want now?"

Her tone made it clear that she was not pleased with the interruption.

Weaver simply smiled, unfazed by her attitude. "Can't I visit my own elder sister whenever I feel like it?"

She frowned, unimpressed. "You never visit me unless you want something. I don't believe that has changed. So stop wasting my time and tell me what it is you want."

"Oh, don't be like that, Selene." He smiled lightly and seated himself opposite her in the same lotus position. "I truly just came to visit."

Selene narrowed her eyes. Something about his behaviour didn't sit right with her. She could tell there was more to his visit than he was letting on, but since he didn't seem inclined to talk, she decided to let him be. Closing her eyes once more, she returned to her meditation.

A day passed in silence.

When she opened her eyes the next morning, she frowned again — Weaver was still there, sitting in the same position, watching her with that condescending little smile of his. He hadn't moved an inch.

Of course, to beings like them, a day was barely anything — the passage of time meant little. A day, an hour, a century; all bled together. But his stare was undeniably irritating.

"What are you doing?" she finally asked.

"Oh, nothing," he replied lightly. "Just watching."

Selene sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "If you came here to annoy me, congratulations — you've succeeded. If there's nothing else, you can leave."

Weaver's grin widened. "Oh your words wound me sister," He feigned pained, pressing a hand to his chest in dramatic fashion.

But Selene just stared at him with a plain look on her face, as if to say, 'your jokes have no effect on me.' "Alright, fine. That should be enough for me."

He rose to his feet and walked toward the door. Selene closed her eyes again, exhaling softly as he slid it open.

But just before stepping out, his voice came again — calm, almost wistful.

"Oh, and Selene… take care of yourself."

He slipped his shoes back on, and in the next moment, he was gone — vanished without a trace.

Selene's frown deepened. That brother of hers had always been an oddball — easily the most eccentric of all her siblings. All thirteen of them, herself included, were strange in their own ways, but even among such beings, Weaver had always been an outlier. Perhaps that was also what made him the most brilliant.

He was the youngest of the thirteen, yet somehow, the most powerful. He always did as he pleased, without a care for the consequences, no matter the scale of his actions.

Still, even by his standards, his actions this time were… strange. She could not wrap a finger around anything he said and did.

A few days passed before Selene felt it — a sudden, inexplicable sense of loss welling deep within her. She didn't understand it at first. Where was this feeling coming from?

But as the ages drifted on, the truth became clear.

That had been the last time she ever saw Weaver.

No one had heard from him since.

He simply vanished.

Without a trace.
