Chapter 206: The Fourth Great Ninja War Begins
.....
Whoosh!
Ryuzetsu suddenly appeared on the deck of the Sky Fortress, as if she had teleported. Her small face was flushed with excitement; the Teleportation Paper in her hand was incredibly useful. She had returned from the outside instantly.
After lunch yesterday, she had followed Lady Konan's orders to scout the ninja world and gather intelligence. Leading the Anbu and traveling with flight packs, she had returned in just a day without flying very far. She hadn't even reached the primary reconnaissance targets—the territories of the Five Great Ninja Villages. The news was so significant that it had already spread throughout the ninja world, necessitating an immediate return to report.
In the pavilion, Konan sipped fruit juice while admiring the sea of clouds close at hand. Shion, Hinata, and Samui, all looking rosy and in excellent spirits, were massaging Alex, who was lying on the table. Last night had been a sleepless one. The three women, having gone without for half a month, had finally experienced "private tutoring" and late-night guidance once again. The pinnacle of pleasure they reached was indescribable.
Konan set down her juice and looked outside the pavilion. She had noticed Ryuzetsu the moment she appeared.
"Lady Konan!" Ryuzetsu hurriedly entered the pavilion and stood before Konan. "I have major intelligence! The ninja world is undergoing a massive upheaval."
Upheaval...
Alex's heart stirred. What upheaval could compare to war? It seemed it had already begun.
Ryuzetsu's tone was grave. "Over a week ago, after the Five Kage Summit concluded and the Kages returned to their respective villages, they simultaneously announced to the entire ninja world the formation of the Allied Shinobi Forces to crusade against..."
She paused, her expression awkward, finding it difficult to name the target.
"Crusade against the Akatsuki Organization, I assume," Konan finished calmly, not minding in the least.
The primary target of the Five Great Ninja Villages was undoubtedly the seven Tailed Beasts in Obito Uchiha's possession. However, the destruction she had caused while retrieving bloodline samples from Kirigakure, Kumogakure, and Konoha had likely been tallied onto the account of the "Akatsuki" led by Obito.
"Did the Five Kage Summit end normally without any unexpected incidents?" Alex asked curiously.
"Lord Alex," Ryuzetsu replied quickly, "according to the gathered intelligence, no accidents occurred during the summit itself; it concluded quite smoothly."
Hmm? Alex floated up from the table. Obito didn't cause trouble at the summit? And Sasuke Uchiha didn't go either? The plot had changed significantly.
"Lord Alex," Ryuzetsu continued, "I heard that the Acting Hokage, Kakashi, was attacked by Sasuke Uchiha on his way back. I don't know the specific details of the battle, but Kakashi successfully returned to Konoha in the end."
Alex settled back onto Konan's shoulder. "It seems Sasuke has already transplanted Itachi's eyes and awakened the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan."
Danzo Shimura had been dead for over half a month. Who knew what Sasuke would think after confronting Kakashi and learning the situation? His so-called revenge against Konoha... only to later brazenly declare he wanted to become Hokage during the war... It was truly dramatic. His thought process was not something a normal person could understand.
"Eternal Mangekyo..." Konan subconsciously touched her own eyes. They were still ordinary Mangekyo, but with her powerful physique, the risk of blindness was gone. If Obito could use his Mangekyo unscrupulously just by transplanting Hashirama cells, she, who had ascended to an Otsutsuki bloodline, certainly could as well. Aside from the pupil power being slightly inferior to the Eternal Mangekyo, there was basically no difference.
Thump-thump!
Her eyeballs began to tremble again. The sensation was familiar—the fourth pulsation!
Konan closed her eyes to adapt. The pulsations were becoming more frequent; she had just experienced the third one yesterday evening. at this speed, the time to awaken the Tenseigan was not far off.
"Lady Konan," Ryuzetsu said worriedly, watching Konan suddenly close her eyes. "Are you alright..."
After a dozen seconds, the pulsation ended. Konan opened her eyes. Ryuzetsu, along with Honoka, Shion, and the others present, felt a slight tremor in their hearts. They saw blue starlight emerge within Konan's pure white pupils. It was as brilliant as the stars and incredibly beautiful. Although it faded quickly, it left a deep impression.
"I am fine," Konan waved her hand. "I am merely adapting to a new power."
She looked around before deactivating her Byakugan. Her pupil power and penetration distance had increased several times over. She could feel her eyes strengthening after every pulsation. How powerful would she be the moment the final Tenseigan opened? She was truly looking forward to it.
The others breathed a sigh of relief in unison. The moment the blue starlight appeared, the pressure was immense, like the eyes of a god that could not be looked at directly. Immediately after, endless joy and adoration welled up within them. The stronger Lady Konan was, the better it was for them.
"Lady Konan," Ryuzetsu composed herself. "Not long after the Five Great Ninja Villages declared war, a man calling himself Madara Uchiha accepted the challenge on behalf of Akatsuki. He immediately dispatched 100,000 White Zetsu, including many flying variants that initiated attacks. The Allied Shinobi Forces completed their assembly three days ago and are rushing to their respective battlefields; the vanguard units have already engaged small groups of White Zetsu."
"Only White Zetsu?" Alex asked. "No enemies from the Impure World Reincarnation?"
"Uh..." Ryuzetsu hesitated. "At least from the information compiled by the Anbu members, they carefully flew over a nearby battlefield but did not discover any Reanimated individuals."
"Is that so..." Alex pondered. The war hadn't been going on for long; perhaps Kabuto and Obito hadn't joined forces yet. But it was only a matter of time. Reanimated bodies would likely appear on the battlefield soon.
"That is the basic situation." Ryuzetsu squeezed the Teleportation Paper in her hand. "Lady Konan, do you need me and the Anbu to scout for further intelligence? With these teleportation papers, we can get closer to the battlefield."
These papers were incredibly useful. If discovered or in danger, they could teleport away with just a bit of chakra. They were essentially divine tools for the Anbu, allowing them to spy aggressively.
"No need," Konan said decisively. "Have all Anbu members return to the Sky Fortress."
Knowing that the Fourth Great Ninja War had just begun, the intelligence was sufficient. There was no need to gather more. Now, she only needed to rush to the main battlefield and wait for the God Tree to appear.
"Kameda!"
"Lady Konan, your subordinate is here." Kameda, who had been invisible outside the pavilion, rushed forward. "Please give your orders."
Konan looked around at everyone present. Amidst their curious and anxious gazes, she commanded, "The Sky Fortress will continue to hide. Activate the defensive barrier and do not go out. Wait for my return!"
"Yes!" Kameda nodded immediately.
Although Honoka, Shion, Samui, and the others were curious about what Lady Konan was going to do, they did not ask, content to execute her orders faithfully.
Whoosh!
The Flying Thunder God technique activated, and Konan's figure disappeared, heading for the battlefield.
